The Queue: Mike Sacco and the Saccos
Welcome back to The Queue, WoW.com's daily Q&A column where the WoW.com team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.
What happens when you put WoW.com staffers in a room with a karaoke machine and alcohol? The video embedded above is what happens. And there were only two of them, Mike and Fox! BlizzCon is going to be... interesting.
scraggerly asked...
"I was just visiting Dominic's warlock column, mainly because I love the lock-mage feuds and comments. Is there a particular origin (maybe lore) to the feud, like the montagues and capulets, or is it mainly player generated?
Also, can we start more feuds?"
It's player generated, mostly coming from the fact that they're bother cloth caster classes filling the same pure role. The two classes have competed for the same job in raids for years, but they're two different classes. Any gain for a mage is a loss for a warlock and vice versa. They compete with one another on a level no other classes do. If a mage gets some awesome ability, it's less likely for a warlock to be welcomed to a raid. If warlocks utility gets ratcheted up with no love for mages, suddenly there are less raid spots available to the mages.
Other classes compete, no doubt about that, but none as closely as these two classes. Plus everyone that plays warlocks and mages are lame and can't handle a real man's class. Unless they're girls, and in that case, why aren't they healing me?*
Artitian asked...
"Why do you guys and gals at WoW.com not cover macros? A macros 101 post and subsequent macro spotlight articles would be an awesome addition to the site."
We do cover macros, just not in their own column. A number of class columns have covered them recently, not to mention Gold Capped and various other areas. We talk about them pretty frequently, actually!
I'll pass the idea onto the staff though, and maybe we'll put out a dedicated macro feature in the future.
vertigobliss86 asked...
"Since the Horde has a little minor quest in Dalaran taking you to Thunder Bluff to see a preview of the tauren learning to become paladins, does the Alliance have something similar with dwarves becoming shamans?"
We don't have one for dwarven shaman yet, but we do have one for night elf mages. There's a Highborne in Darnassus trying to meet with Tyrande, while a sentinel is bullying him around. The tauren paladin quest is far more interesting. Trust me.
RothKeahi asked...
"April Fools Day is coming up soon, and we all know Blizzard has been known for elaborate pranks on the day. Any thoughts or hopes on what they may do this year?"
The ultimate prank. WoW will be down all day long.
Kar asked...
"Today via LFG tool I joined a heroic in progress. When I teleported in, I didn't go to the entrance but rather right where the rest of the group was, several rooms in. It wasn't a warlock summon or anything. Is this a new feature?"
This was added in patch 3.3.3. Although in the 24 hours, I've run a number of dungeons where it didn't work and new party members started at the beginning anyway. I'm not sure if it's a bug, or if they temporarily turned it off until people stop getting teleported into the sky in Oculus and falling to their deaths.
*Please don't take this seriously. Joke, guys! You know those things! Jokes!

HAHA oh wow, bold statement but so funny I can't stop laughing.

I know, that statement just made my day. xD

Interestingly, most female players I know are healers. Every single raiding female in my guild is a healer, with a caster dps offspec.
I'm sure there are girls playing tanks and melee classes too, but they seem to be very rare compared to those who like to heal.
Boz Mar 30th 2010 1:30PM
In my guild (25-man raiding) every single healer is a man, and nearly half the guild is women.
Hmm; let me rephrase that: From my experience in Vent, every single healer sounds like a man, and half the guild members sound like women.
Take that for what you will.

I am tank woman.
(Okay, so I have a healing priest too... but my bear/kitty is my main! Shh!
Also I heal less than Allison Robert! Hah!)

Hehe, I'm a girl and oddly enough I just can't stand healing. It's not my thing. Though I don't have a high level tank, I do have a few mid-level ones that I'm working on and really enjoy playing. They also happen to be male characters, so how's that for messing with the stereotype? xD

before when i read about the idea of Choose Your Adventure being on a pvp server, i thought of course its a bad idea.
But all the sudden i have the urge to roll a little gnome DK named Rick Astley....

lol! omg this is usually so true :( Imma girl and i have three lvl 80s and they all have heal specs and sets >< It's a weakness!! Even on lowbie toons my husband makes bets with our guildmates to see how long it'll take for me to make that Ret Pally I'm leveling into a Holy pally.. and usually it don't take long

Pretty sure that comment was a reference to this semi-epic troll thread:

MT, i guess its Alex Ziebart who the real credit goes too, but very clever for reflecting onto poor Mr. Sacco with that Column heading, you are a clever one indeed...

My wife's main is a holy paladin, with a ret offspec. The only other girls in my guild play a prot warrior and a demon lock. I'm not counting all the dudes that play female toons (several).
Oteo Mar 30th 2010 1:46PM
Troll thread +10 epicness

I have two bear tanks, a pally tank, and my warrior tank is 78.
*shrug* People do always seem surprised that I'm a chick, but I just love tanking.

A real man uses no magic or pets, wears only leather, stands in melee, and attempts to kill giant hideous monsters with the smallest pointy object he can possibly use as a weapon.

I love my Mage. IDGAF.
Profeta Cinque Mar 30th 2010 2:12PM
Also, I typed out a lot more than what my actual comment posted. :/
Ahem: I love my mage. IDGAF. I would rather play a age all day than any other class in the game. :) And my BF plays a warlock and we leveled together with them.. I guess you can say that opposites attract? :D

Healers or Hunters in my experience. Girls are always healers or hunters.
And I also have a feeling that if I ever knew a girl who tanked, I'd develop some sort of school boy crush on them.
