In case you missed it, a few of the staff here at WoW.com are having you
choose our adventures. We'll report next week on what we have done so far, but now it's time for you to choose where we will quest next. Many readers have suggested that we should stick to zones that will be changing when
Cataclysm comes out. So after
consulting what we know so far, I have only listed zones that we think will undergo at least a light change. If we don't think the zone will be touched, it isn't in the poll. This is rather limiting for the Horde, as that leaves out the easy-mode blood elf areas.
Level 8 is an awkward age. It's high enough to want to change scenery but too low to quest efficiently in the next zone. So we have two polls for next week's adventuring: one for before level 10, and one for when we graduate to the next zone.
Elizabeth Harper and I will also be choosing our talents according to what tree you pick. And
Michael Gray wants you to choose his first pet. When voting, think about what fun adventures you would like to hear retold here, rather than how to have us level speedily.
All polls are after the break.
Note: I put the amount of change we think each zone will be undergoing in parentheses.

IU voted tirisfal, silverpine, resto, arcane and owl. Basically the most annoying choices in every instance.
Sorry :D
Snuzzle Apr 3rd 2010 1:07PM
I voted Tirsifal and Silverpine only because no one ever GOES there. :\
wildslide9 Apr 2nd 2010 8:13PM
Pfft! Those hunter pet options are fail... closest is random Tallstrider.
If Michael's Tauren Hunter does not pimp the Pink Flamingo of Justice... he is fail.
Vitos Apr 2nd 2010 9:57PM
Mazzaranche is the best! Also, for some reason I call it a penguin instead of a flamingo- not sure why.
RichardCyphr Apr 2nd 2010 11:21PM
Another vote for Mazzaranche!
Matthew Apr 3rd 2010 3:27PM
My pink flamingo is named Diva, and rocks in pvp. AoE miss ftw!
An aside: asking a shammy to be elemental before lava burst is MEAN

Inb4 Grayfield is sent halfway across Azeroth.

I'm kinda grouchy that the majority seem to be voting for easy, typical stuff. Levelling as frost? Talk about faceroll. A turtle for a pet? What, no Auberdine corpse run? Let's make these guys work for their levels people!
kabshiel Apr 2nd 2010 9:01PM
The same thing happened the last time they did this. The people who are voting must be either super nice or super boring.
Hih Apr 2nd 2010 9:41PM
Haha, ya, I voted Resto, Arcane, and Ravager hoping to... ya, lets go with what you said, make them work for their levels.
Bronwyn Apr 2nd 2010 10:24PM
Psh they're leveling in a group they're not going to have to work for much.
I voted for whatever was fun.
elizabeth Apr 2nd 2010 11:10PM
Hey, I've leveled two priests and a paladin with holy specs. Honestly, I wish more people would have voted resto -- at least it's familiar!
Which is to say... everyone's definition of fun (and of easy) is a bit different. Enhancement melee sounds like tedium to me, whereas grinding up as a healer in random dungeons strikes me as fun.
Robin Torres Apr 2nd 2010 11:16PM
I agree. I could have picked Frost myself. Give me something challenging!
Rexton Apr 2nd 2010 11:24PM
I voted for stuff that would be a challenge. Namely: Resto, Arcane, and Ravager (Simply because you need to get through alliance territory). Never played horde, so I couldn't really decide on leveling areas.
Eberron Apr 3rd 2010 3:53AM
One point: This is all for extremely low level stuff.
What I think a lot of people forget is that the first 20-30 levels, all classes are basically the same aside from what gear they put on.
"What spec should I level as?" by an experienced player should really come back with the answers "Who cares?! Call us in 20 more levels!"
I think you should put, for specs and pets, options every 10-15 levels or so.
I'd argue leveling a frost mage from say 10-20 not because it's exciting or boring, you're just a bit less likely to die since the mobs won't get to you right away. Regardless you're just hitting your spec's favourite nuke over and over again until the mobs are dead.
I want to see you get a few levels under your belt, get past the tedium as quickly as possible and on to the more unique fun stuff. :D
Do this poll again and rephrase it: "What would be the most interesting and challenging spec to level as?"
I think you'll get a lot less overtly 'best' answers.
Tho I will say I went for all the cookie cutter specs because I'm not impressed with doing things more difficult just because. Now when the specs actually *play* differently? Then we're on :D
Oh, and btw, I picked a bear because when you're leveling a hunter you want a tank for a pet. Everyone knows the best tanks are bears.
Eat it, Glowboys.
pandaba Apr 3rd 2010 3:55AM
I voted for frost only in the hopes of seeing some great AOE grinding, which can be challenging if you're brave enough to use it on orange level mobs or let a few casters get in the snared mix.
Azizrael Apr 3rd 2010 5:05AM
Isn't the Auberdine corpse run Alliance only?
Erzfiend Apr 2nd 2010 8:23PM
I went Mulgore because it is my favorite starting zone after Eversong; the Barrens honestly because that place is hell; Elemental, no real reason; Arcane because I don't often hear of people leveling as that; and Dragonhawk because that was my Orc hunter's first pet.
jjtwalton Apr 2nd 2010 8:29PM
Can we pick your professions, too?
I would go with Mining-Engineering for everyone.
It's a well-known fact that Rocketboots are the coolest and that BM Hunters and Frost Mages and Resto Shamen are very bad when it comes to survivability.. the Mining will help.
Robin Torres Apr 2nd 2010 8:34PM
Not for me! I'm Tailoring/Enchanting because I want to wear pretty dresses and be all glowy. Just because I'm dead doesn't mean I have to lose my fashion sense. Being naturally slim, I plan to use it to the best of my advantage.
Besides, magic carpets are fun.
