Around Azeroth: Simple beauty
Sometimes there are no descriptions. Sometimes the picture itself is enough. Thanks to Grimm of <Forged in Blood> on Eitrigg for this stunning shot from Crystalsong Forest.
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as emailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing; use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, Val'kyr on mounts or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran. Older screenshots can be found here.

I'm still upset that Blizzard never developed this zone. It's easily one of, if not THE most beautiful zone in the game, and other than having Dalaran floating high above it, it's just...vacant. Well, there are mobs to kill, but...
Does anyone have any information on what Blizzard had intended for this zone? It would be interesting to read through, if nothing else.
Fantastic shot, and I agree - nothing further needed saying about it.

It was actually going to be the surroundings for the Argent Tournament, but Dalaran lagged out the zone too much.

I'm sure someone will answer this by the time I hit "send", but here goes.
Crystalsong was the original location intended for the Argent Tournament. However, Dalaran wound up being more of a resource hog than they had anticipated, and the prospect of having a major quest and raid hub in the same zone as it was unappealing. You'll notice that a number of the Argent Tournament quests are (otherwise) inexplicably set in Crystalsong. The "far flung" dailies in Grizzly Hills and Dragonblight make much more sense with the hub having originally been in Crystalsong.
The more you know *star swipe*

The Argent Tournament was supposed to take place in Crystalsong Forest, but due to Dalaran lag it was moved to Icecrown. Makes since though since the Sunreavers and Windrunners both have outposts there.
While it's a shame that not much happens quest-wise in Crystalsong, I'm glad they considered the lag. It can get bad even outside (below or above) Dalaran. Of course that depends on the population and whatnot.

Pssh, and here I thought I could avoid comment issues. That was in reply to Tokkar.

i too wish they had done more with this zone... they put time into putting the ally and horde bases there. maybe some sort of silithus or zangamarsh style pvp objective was planned until they came up with the tournament as a way for gaining rep with respective factions.
agreed with the op... this is one of the coolest screenshots ive seen

Now THAT is a screenshot! That thing could easily be a desktop background.
