Call for posts: Upcoming Cataclysm Class Changes

We're going to operate this guest posting opportunity much like we did our BlizzCon 2010 opinions. Write a paragraph or two, sign up for Seed, and then go and submit it on the Seed project page. If it's something we like we'll post it and you'll get paid $10! Easy and awesome.
You can find out more about the guest writer program in our announcement post and at our Contributing to WoW.com page.
A couple things to note:
- If you write a really great comment here, feel free to submit it through our Seed page too! No penalty for leaving a comment and submitting it through Seed.
- We're expecting to get a ton of submissions for this, so we're not going to be able to publish all the great thoughts and opinions we get, even though we want to.
- If you'd like you can include a short bio about yourself, things like your character name, guild, server, blog, etc... Totally optional, though.
- The sooner you get these in the better! We'll be publishing our first batch of guest posts in the next day or so, and will continue to do so every couple days for the next week or so. This project closes on April 19th at 11:59 p.m. EST.
If you have any questions, just leave a comment here or email seed@wow.com and we'll get back to you.
Edit: Please note, this submission should be based off the upcoming Cataclysm class changes, released April 7th through April 16th.

I haven't been on Seed yet, but I'm curious how far it extends. Is it open to those outside the US?
mayjest Apr 6th 2010 9:09PM
That was easily answered. Clicked on the link to Seed... no it's not. US only.
Adam Holisky Apr 6th 2010 9:11PM
Only US right now. I'm told "soon" (the TM kind) it will be available to other countries, but I don't have a date yet.
It is a priority for us though, 40% of all of you are outside the US. All I can say is that we're working on it =)

Whilst I know it's not your guys fault (and completely out of your control) it's still rather typical. Some things I understand the reason for them being blocked outside the US, other things go right over my head (like this) as to what possible legal reasons could be incurred from such things.
When net neutrality happens, someone mind sending me the memo?
Adam Holisky Apr 6th 2010 9:19PM
From what I understand it has to do with employment (and freelance) laws in various countries. But I shouldn't be quoted on that. I don't really understand it that well either, other than what I'm told by the lawyers.

When you say it's not open to people outside the US, is it possible to submit things without receiving payment for them? Since the problem is tax, would it be possible to submit something to the site with no financial reward?

@ jonny
nope, Im on may iTouch right now and it's working fine for me. Since both iTouch and iPhones use the same browser, it can't be the website thats not working.
VSUReaper Apr 7th 2010 10:41AM
Figures: I am officially a US citizen studying in Canada, and I can't participate :(
Oh well, I will be posting my thoughts and opinions at http://ragetanks.tumblr.com/

Only a few comments after 10 minutes? Where's the rest of us? ICC? Hope druids get a epic ground travel form at level 30 or something, at 80% speed (or has that happened?) Ahh, the low levels...
Bobmcbob Apr 6th 2010 9:15PM
Bah! 18+ only. =/

I hope to dive into this pretty deep when they release all the info for Warlocks. Signed up in Seed, all ready to go! :D

Aren't they announcing the first set of classes tomorrow? How can you post the first set of comments tomorrow when we haven't seen the changes yet?
Adam Holisky Apr 6th 2010 9:27PM
"We'll be publishing our first batch of guest posts in the next day or so"
"or so" are the key words. I suspect we'll get several dozen submissions each day, so all it'll require is for us to go through them after each day and pick out the ones that we like, format them in a post, and put it up. If the class changes are out at 11am tomorrow morning, we probably could have the first edition of this published tomorrow evening.
Tridus Apr 6th 2010 9:53PM
Oh ok. :)
Diomades Apr 6th 2010 9:28PM
I'd say if you're going to do it, do it through something that is open to more than just people in the U.S. Because I'd love to write something about Elemental Shaman PvP, but I'm down in Australia, so I'm kinda screwed out of contributing.

It's an AOL thing. The evil overlords who cruelly whip our beloved writers so they may fill their banks with tasty add revenues decreed that no inferior state be allowed to write on their blogs.
Or they haven't gotten around to it or it's a trial scheme, if you want a less crazy answer.
Adam Holisky Apr 6th 2010 9:38PM
We whip each other for fun, too. Not just a corporate thing.
Diomades Apr 6th 2010 9:41PM
I realize it's an AOL thing, it's hard to miss on the site sometimes.
But there should be options for people that want to participate outside of the U.S. Even if it's only dropping stuff at an e-mail address or in comments.
I mean, we ALL know that Americans are inferior to Australians. So we deserve to be heard!

"We whip each other for fun, too. Not just a corporate thing."
Let me guess ... it was a staff party, everybody was drunk, Dominic Hobbs summoned his Succubus, Dawn Moore specced Discipline, and it all went downhill from there.
Adam Holisky Apr 6th 2010 9:44PM
Anyone can certainly still comment, it's just that guest posts through Seed are currently US only at this time. Again, it's not a restriction we're fond of -- but we'd rather do something than nothing.
