New Recruit-A-Friend mount coming soon

Beginning in just a few days, players who participate in the Recruit-A-Friend program will receive a whole new reward for showing a friend the ropes in Azeroth: the X-53 Touring Rocket, a two-seater flying mount that automatically increases its speed as your mount skill improves (up to 310% speed if you already have a 310% mount). The X-53 will be replacing the current Zhevra mount reward, which is retiring from the Recruit-A-Friend business after a good run. If you've already claimed a Zhevra (or claim one prior to the change), you'll be able to hang on to it, of course. We'll have more details on the new Recruit-A-Friend mount once it becomes available.

I won't lie, I'll be getting my hands on this mount sooner or later. A two-seater flying mount that will scale up with my 310% mount? That's hard to resist. Well played, Blizzard. I wonder if my imaginary friends want to check out WoW...

BlackTiger™ Apr 6th 2010 6:23AM
You can be a friend to yourself, actually...
Rakah Apr 8th 2010 6:04AM
wonder if this will apply to accounts currently linked but do not yet have the 60 days credit paid for the mount?
Zantrix81 Apr 6th 2010 6:39AM
Just pay for two accounts for x period of time, and BAM! Mount time.

Wow! I just read through these 4 pages of comments, and I can't help but think "Blizzard is going to make a small fortune off of this."
/joins the masses in buying a 2nd account

That sounds like the Zhevra will not be obtainable anymore.
Xirifus Apr 6th 2010 6:11AM
Im more worried about NOT being able to replace my newish zevhra (which I have already claimed, learned & mounted up) with this one.. or is that possible.. (if not, then Im very disappointed to you, blizz) I gotta triple-read that article...
Nathanyel Apr 6th 2010 6:20AM
It is very likely that you only get that rocket for referrals after the introduction of said rocket.
Also, how did I miss the following line in the bluepost?
"The X-53 will be replacing the current Zhevra mount reward, which is retiring from the Recruit-A-Friend business after a good run."
Good thing I deducted the same from the sentence afterwards *slaps own forehead*
Xirifus Apr 6th 2010 6:23AM
Yes, sadly I just read the news, link in the post, second page:
blue post:
"If you've claimed your Recruit-A-Friend gift and received the Zhevra you'll need to refer a new friend (thus gaining a new reward to redeem and claim after this change) to also obtain the X-53 Touring Rocket.
If you have a reward waiting around you have not claimed it can be used to claim a Zhevra now, or you can wait and claim an X-53 after the change. "

@Xirifus boo hoo i want my pony blah blah blah. if u want the new mount that badly then you'll have to do recruit a friend again.
Blizz might be making all mounts scale not just this one. That would be awesome seeing as how some friends and guild mates make fun of the purple 310% holiday proto. My other mounts might see the light of day. here is to hoping.
Banic Rhys Apr 6th 2010 8:10AM
Grr, do I pay those two months and get the Zevra now or do I wait for the Rocket? This is hard.
:S
Thundrcrackr Apr 6th 2010 10:57AM
When you obtain a recruit-a-friend mount, is it usable on all your toons or do you have to choose only one toon to use it on?
ambient Apr 6th 2010 12:32PM
You only get one zhevra, so choose well!
Gyussz Apr 6th 2010 5:22AM
Unfortunately I can't try this in Hungary :/
pietrex Apr 6th 2010 6:21AM
Or Poland. This is so unfair. :(

Agreed, I've had a collectors edition for a loong time now, but have been waiting for RAF to become available locally to activate - there aren't any laws that forbid it or other online transactions so I don't see what the problem is
Chris Anthony Apr 6th 2010 9:04AM
My guess, as a layperson, is that RAF is considered a "contest, competition, or promotion", and those countries DO have laws that prohibit Blizzard from opening RAF to players in those countries. Some examples from Thundgot, a WOW-EU CM:
* Terms must be translated in that country’s official language (Blizzard can only translate into Spanish, French, German, and English)
* Requirements that there be a corporate presence inside that country’s borders for contests to be run there
