Over the
next three days (and a week from Friday for paladins), Blizzard will be announcing some of the class revamp information that will be implemented in
Cataclysm. This will by no means be all of the information, and if you followed us during the
Wrath beta, you'll know that these things might change before the expansion comes out.
While I'm sure that the class you're
waiting to hear info on the most is your own class, I've got a little bit of a different question for you: Which class do you think is going to be changing the most in
Cataclysm?
Will it be warriors, due to the impending
rage normalization? How about death knights, since
blood will be the only tanking spec after the expansion hits? Will it be hunters with their
mana changing to a focus system or warlocks with their complete
revamp of Soul Shards? Let us know what you think.
Which class will change the most in Cataclysm?| Death Knight | 5123 (19.7%) |
|---|
| Druid | 1113 (4.3%) |
|---|
| Hunter | 5550 (21.4%) |
|---|
| Mage | 1007 (3.9%) |
|---|
| Paladin | 5664 (21.8%) |
|---|
| Priest | 610 (2.4%) |
|---|
| Rogue | 661 (2.5%) |
|---|
| Shaman | 1575 (6.1%) |
|---|
| Warlock | 2877 (11.1%) |
|---|
| Warrior | 1760 (6.8%) |

400+ votes for Paladins? Really?
So far, there's been nothing previewed for paladins that are anything compared to either the complete talent-tree overhaul that DKs are getting, or new game mechanics that are coming for Hunters and Warlocks...Paladins (so far) have no more changes than any other class.
Or are folks just voting for whatever their main is?

im hoping for some ele shaman changes, we're always lagging behind :( wrath fixed plenty but its not done yet. i think the dk changes are a bit fail cause theyve turned around on their original intent, but with the bonuses from trees would make it impossible or at least too restrictive to work with the tank or dps for every tree model, so i understand. im frost dps/ blood tank to i dont have too much to lose at least.

I think a lot of people misread the poll as: Which Class do the Prepubescent Play the Most? ...Hey looky dere, paladins're winning.

If you don't believe Paladins are up for a major change, you've -in the case of Prot - never read GC's posts on AoE threat and - for Ret - never played the class. Incidental AoE damage plus 4 button mash is not in line with Blizzards development of classes anymore. These changes will be massive (especially for Ret IMO).
Id personally like to see some more interesting talents and probably a few more interesting major glyphs.
I don't mind the ramp up time for SoV but the dps loss in heroics is unreal - it feels like being a warlock - not enough time to "DoT" up, mob dies, Mage has 7k dps.
imf00001 Apr 7th 2010 8:55AM
Yeah because of that I use SoC on trash for the burst and the chaining, and use SoV on the boss fights. But if you out gear the heroic enough even the boss fights don't last long enough for SoV to stack up beneficially....

I agree with the comments about ret paladin AoE wholeheartedly. AoE has become a curse to the class -- it feeds the perception of the faceroll class due to ridiculous trash dps, while our meaningful dps (i.e. single target) has been sinking to the bottom of the charts. In tricky fights that involve movement AND single target dps (Putricide, Blood Princes, for example), ret is becoming a bit of a joke. A nerf to our AoE would be a godsend, as long as we get a single target buff to compensate (off the top of my head, buffing SoV/C so that it stacks faster and does more damage would be a start).
Why the hell would paladins be AoE damage kings anyway? It makes no sense.

I -swipe- love -swipe- all -swipe- the -swipe- comments -swipe- about -swipe- Paladin -swipe- tanking rotation -swipe- being too simple -swipe-.

@matticus:
I lol'd. I know how bad Bear tanking is, and I hate it. It's really a grating switch to change from Kitty to Bear and back again, what with how hard Kitty is and how stupid Bear is.
On a completely separate note, while I'm not expecting Shammies to have the biggest change of the expansion, I'm definitely excited to see how the new changes work out. Having a usable AoE for dungeons will fix a lot of problems with Ele-shammies and 5-mans, and the changes to the stats should fix raid scaling too.

I voted Hunters. Not only is focus replacing mana, but I remember to have read somewhere that a lot of the situational abilities (my guess would be abilities like Wing Clip) are on the way out too.
Stormsurge Apr 7th 2010 8:56AM
I'm going to have to vote for Warlocks as well. With the shard system being completely redone it seems like they have the biggest change to how they will be played.
yujie.max Apr 7th 2010 8:57AM
I'm not the only one disappointed that not many people think that my class is going to have a huge change, right?
Josin Apr 7th 2010 8:59AM
Rage changes, stance changes, shout changes, on-next swing ability changes.... I foresee massive changes for the Warrior class.
Jayfitty Apr 7th 2010 9:01AM
I'm betting we're in for a surprise or two. From what we know from Blizzcon is that there are some major system/resource changes for Warlocks and Hunters. Several are assuming major changes for Paladins, which I'm sure they will have. But just because we haven't heard much about other classes like Mages, Priests, Rogues, etc. doesn't mean the are barely changing. I would not be shocked if we find out on of those classes barely mentioned is the source of a HUGE set of changes.
lllcolelll Apr 7th 2010 9:07AM
My vote goes for paladins. Why? nurf till oblivion...
But i dont realy care tho... i played him since day 1 and will contuinue till im old and gray :P

Mage quietly notices discussion, fades slowly to the shadows and casts invis.
Whistles nochalently and tries to look inconspicious whilst walking slowly away muttering 'Changes....Sod that'
DarkFinch Apr 7th 2010 10:10AM
How about some plate-wearing mages!? COULD YOU IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES!!!???

Its time to kick @#$! and chew deathkniggets...and I'm all out of dethkniggets...
Plantman Apr 7th 2010 9:31AM
Druids...If you heal and tank. Rage changes to Bear and the new poison, curse, and magic remove/cure mechanics. And the yet unknown mana usage changes to all healing classes.

I have a personal tradition of bringing destruction and change from the ruins wherever I go. When I was younger, I killed at least four different companies I worked at, all imploding near-immediately in my wake. This has never trickled to other aspects of my life. Until now.
My two mains are an afflic warlock and a ret/prot pally. Those classes are going to burn to the ground.
Hopefully, something good will come out of the ashes. Unlike the jobs where I worked. One of those buildings has weeds in it now.
