The fact that they take an extra week before paladin-revelations makes me a bit worried about what they are up to with the class.

Rage changes, stance changes, shout changes, on-next swing ability changes.... I foresee massive changes for the Warrior class.

They're probably trying to word "we're removing Ardent Defender so nyeh" more delicately.

Yeah, I was surprised by the Pally delay. From what I've read about Cataclysm so far, I didn't think pallies were getting changed much.Sure, lots of changes to individual spells and talents, but every class is getting those. But I didn't think there were any planned changes to any of the paladin basic class mechanics. Or did I miss an announcement on that?

Ret is going to need to be changed so haste helps them regen mana somehow (other melée us getting that with rage and energy so it makes sense) and tankadins are going to need to have their mana regen in combat get tweaked to be similar to rage. Add to that holydins somehow being in here while not taking advantage of these tweaks to be infinite healing machines is a delicate move. I'm thinking they are going to address AE superiority by lowering that damage and boosting single target DPS. It should be interesting.

Uh, no. The biggest changes are probably coming to Retribution and Holy Paladins. Holy Paladins in particular. Most of the healing classes and specs have gotten revamps over the years and Holy Paladins have not had a complete overhaul along the lines of what Shamans have gotten. Holy Paladins are definitely going to be looked at so that they can finally be more than stationary healers and have more then three heals. I believe they said something about that a few weeks ago on a blue post, but I don't have the exact quote.Anyways, I think out of the three specs Holy will get changed the most. It's time for it to happen anyways, the healing techniques they have are outdated and boring.(I've played holy paladins since release. Don't know what's wrong with me.)

Minor note, but they outright stated that they're taking an extra week with paladin because that's the class they're working on *right now*. They want to wait until their changes are more concrete before they give an overview. The other classes have likely already had their changes made, or only have planned changes, explaining why some class previews are going to have more content than others. Paladins are on the fence, due to being in development at this very moment, so they're going to hold off a week and give more information rather than less.

I've had a lot of thoughts about where the Paladin changes will be going. I'll summarize my thoughts on Prot/Holy, because I don't play Ret so I have no idea what might be happening there. -New healing spells and/or revamping of Holy Light. The current interaction with Int for paladins is just too good. Stamina was changed in this way for tanks, so it seems as though healers will get it, too.-New defensive spell on a shorter cooldown. They're taking away dispelling from non-healers, so it would seem that something has to replace that function; Paladins already have great defensive spells, but the long cooldown on the spells make their use probably less interesting than they could be. This is a shakier change, so call it a hunch.-Changing how AoE threat works, either by altering our spells or adding new ones. I've seen speculation that Blizzard wants to move us in a direction where we have a different rotation depending on whether we are tanking a group or a boss. This seems likely to me.

"I'm thinking they are going to address AE superiority by lowering that damage and boosting single target DPS. It should be interesting."Here's hoping!

The kit for Paladins has always been having a smaller selection of spells and abilities that are directly used for their given role. This can be seen in the form of Holy's limited healing spells, Prot's limited defensive cooldown abilites and Ret's limited offensive abilities. In a new system where running OOM and selecting the right tool for the right job, Holy will need a larger spell selection to choose from. With a change to incoming damage as a result of the healing and health changes. Protection could use some shorter cooldown defensive abilities. Considering the nature of Holy Shield and its similarities to pre-LK Shield Block, this may be one likely Candidate. Retribution is currently very global cooldown locked and utilizing Consecration, something that is likely to change. I'd imagine a longer cooldown and added effect for Crusader Strike and probably at least one new ability to get Consecration out of the always-use category and back to AoE where it belongs. There's also going to have to be major changes to the talent trees. Due to the smaller size of the spell/ability pool for Paladins, there are many, many passive talents in their trees. With the pruning of passive talents to be reconstituted in the mastery system, there will be a lot of space to fill in the trees, especially Holy and Retribution, which should see the largest changes. Hopefully, all Paladins should have more interesting choices and spells to choose from, both from a gearing/talent and gameplay perspective.

They always take longer on paladins. I think the devs still sit around and go, "ok, wtf we going to do with paladins?" Last minute, not well thought out changes, are the hallmark of the class. Major changes happened just as the original beta was ending that went a completely different way than they had been going with the class. In BC it ended up that the only viable spec was holy at first, with ret being a laughing stock until just about the very end, and then, viable only in certain circumstances. Then the wrath beta, they made huge changes, spent the whole time in beta with people saying paladins were stupid OP, went live with them anyways, and then went "ZOMG, paladins are stupid OP", and then beat the living hell out of them with a nerf bat for a few months until they were toned down.Expect more of the same.

It could also be that because they didn't think they needed to make a lot of changes to pallys that they saved it for last. You never know.
