Call for Posts: Guide to Frozen Orbs in patch 3.3.3

The successful guide will include the following:
- A clear list/table of items that Frozen Orbs can be used to help create via purchased Runed Orbs or Crusader Orbs
- A clear list/table of what Frozo the Renowned sells
- Analysis on why certain items from the above two lists are better than others
- Links to previous WoW.com articles on Frozen Orbs and patch 3.3.3 information
- Linking items to Wowhead when appropriate
This is a different kind of guest post request than we've normally done -- but we think it'd be fun to see what kind of guides you all can come up with! If you have additional questions, ask them in the comments or email seed@wow.com and an editor will get back to you.
Good luck!

On the seed page, you guys say, "We're accepting guide submissions until February 16th at 11:59 p.m. EST." Do you mean April 16th? ;)
Mordockk Apr 8th 2010 11:14AM
write it yourself lazy!!!!!!
Nemuraan Apr 9th 2010 11:45AM
Yeah, Mordockk is right! You are more and more lazy: you want people to write guides for you, you copy paste blue posts to fill your websi....

Being "lazy" has nothing to do with it. In fact, it will take me about 15 hours of work to go through all the submissions, fact check, and edit the article for spelling, grammar, and proper wow.com styling. Add in another 5 hours of planning, answering emails, and responding to ill informed opinions like this one. A normal feature article, written by one of our writers, takes me about 30 to 45 minutes to go through, at most.
TLDR?
This isn't the lazy option.

i kid

Of course we could all tell that you were kidding. Your lighthearted attitude really came across through the text that you wrote. Just like my sarcasm really came across through the text I wrote.
Mordockk Apr 8th 2010 12:22PM
k since ya'll are bein so defensive. how bout this ill informed opinion: WHY would you ask your (thousands) readers to write WOW.com's guide to frozen orbs when you could do it yourself and save everyone some time.
theres a ton of different things you can buy with frozen orbs, and then your askin the person to list each item that those items you bought with frozen orbs are used to make.
so a ton of people do all this work make it look awesome, then you spend 15 huors looking through them all and choose 1 of them.
so whats the point? you think everyone had fun assembling this amazing frozen orb guide or do you think they are just more or less dissappointed for all the work they put in because their frozen orb guiide is now stockpiled into this US based SEED website with all the other failu writings, never to be read again.
real efficient.
How about everyone who wants enters a lottery and then you just pick that person, so the boatloads of other people don't have to write the whole damn guide before they figure out they get rejected....i'd feel much better being denied before I put the work into it.

Well maybe...just maybe... as they are recruiting writers - or at least staring some previously unknown ones, they just thought they would throw this one to the readers - and see if they can tap some previously unknown talent?
Oh and please please see if you can get europe (and that other forgotten realm) onto the scheme too - even if it has to be for no money, over 18, etc etc regulations. There are people in places other than America with talent and the willingness to help too (although im not actually saying i have it :) ). I would like to point out that i know its NOT wow.com that controls this, and you probably have as much control as i do, but asking doesnt normally hurt anyone :)

Don't tell Mordockk about American Idol. His head might explode. ;)

Hmmmm, liking the idea of writing guides, not liking Seed telling me I live in the wrong country :p
Roxton Apr 8th 2010 11:20AM
Is there any way for non-U.S. residents to get involved with this?
kevinblack16 Apr 8th 2010 11:22AM
Can't happen bro. If you want to get paid for your time by a company located in another country, you have to obtain a Visa (not the credit card). That is why people from other countries cannot participate.
Roxton Apr 8th 2010 11:25AM
Oh, I know laws make it illegal to give money for services rendered and so on, but what if you just want to submit an article and are willing to not be paid?
(cutaia) Apr 8th 2010 11:31AM
They're a business so they probably don't want to operate that way. Paying you for your work keeps everything on the up and up and avoids any issues in the future.
im99sam8 Apr 8th 2010 11:20AM
Only available in the US =(
soccerdude7 Apr 8th 2010 3:19PM
I have an even better question.
I'm a U.S. citizen yet I don't live in the U.S. Can I still participate?
TR Apr 8th 2010 5:30PM
Yes and no. If you're born or living in Guam, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. (as in United States) you're a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil, but you're in a different country.
But you're in the U.S.
But you're in another country.
But you still gotta meet that April 15 deadline to file your U.S. federal taxes.

biglou Apr 8th 2010 11:30AM
The guide is easy:
Step 1: Send all of your Frozen Orbs to Biglou and Tier 11 gear will be mailed to you within 5 days. Biglou is the personal banker for Frozo the Renound.
Step 2: Send $500 usd to the representative for the late Prince Albert Mgawu in order to help secure his inheritence. This will earn you $3.000.000usd. Of course your strictest confidentiality is required.
Step 3: Dont call me. Ill call you.

I'm busy making bank right now as WOTLK draws to an end, so I dont have to worry about G in cataclysm.
Trading frosts for saronite = 1100g
Trading 10 emblems for epic jewel = 120g (dont get the green ones)
Trading in Frost orbs for frost lotus or crusader orbs = 20g or 150g
Unless you're still wanting to make crafted gear that is only going to be good a couple more months, Start making some money while people are still buying! :)

Honestly, I don't see why is there a need for this guide. The list of items you can directly buy for frozen orbs is small, and the choice would depend on what your auction house looks like. Most likely the prices would already be very similar so its completely up to you what you want - for example, you can keep them in your bank and exchange when the need comes up.
