Breakfast Topic: Design a unique healing spell

We came up with ideas like Holyfiend, a pet that healed people. You could either target it or set it to "aggressive" and it would heal people at random. Another idea was a talent turning a paladin's Consecration into an area healing effect that ticked when stood in (standing in stuff on the floor is good?). There was also the idea of creating a healing wand similar to the healing rod from Final Fantasy VI that did healing instead of damage on the target you attacked.
What would be some interesting mechanics you'd like to see turned into a healing ability? Would you turn the moonkin's little treants into mini resto druids? How about something like Pestilence that spread your heal over time spells to the rest of your party?

A healing version of Seed of Corruption or Living Bomb, it'll heal the target over time then explode in holy energy healing nearby players

Meant to say something similar to that, not implying giving mages or locks healing spells

That's quite similar to Lifebloom, though the AoE component would be fun.

I was also thinking about something with Seed, but maybe something that required non-healer players to "think" about their healing too? That would be nice, give button-hitters DPS something else to think about. Something like a Seed of Healing that players could send to each other, so if you didn't need the Seed anymore, or if someone else did, you could send it over to another player. Of course, the spell you suggested could probably be used to make DPS think too: like, when the seed was about to blow, dps would stack or something similar.

if u did that it would just end up staying on the tank and being a normal hot and blow up for melee

This is the dps spell I have been thinking would make a great aoe heal for a long time. Maybe it could be called "hand of light." It isn't really like lightbloom because you need to incorporate the when the target takes X amount of damage portion of seed. This would make it an interesting reactive heal like prayer of mending.

You mean like Life Bloom which is exactly the healing version of Living Bomb?

For priests would be a nice spell that works like the defile on the LK fight... The more people that run into the bubble the bigger it gets (so something based around teamwork) - maybe the bubble would enable an aura for better healing or 'pop' eventually giving out a heal based on the number of people in it.

Stooooooooopid. For the DPS, tanks and other healers have to run around finding these bubbles to stand in would hurt the raid in terms of dps and strategy. nobody wants to stop what they are doing to go find a bubble to help you boost your HPS.

For shaman, combining all totems into a Mecha (ala Power Rangers :D). Who can shoot rockets that can heal :D

You've been to a doctor before right? "this is gonna sting a little"
At least your doctor has needles and scalpels imagine trying to do that work with tree branches

We used to have a disc priest in my guild who used Penance to punish people because it looked like it would hurt to be hit with it.

It always makes me smile to see big burly tanks flinch when the Prayer of Mending hits them.
DeathPaladin Apr 9th 2010 10:39AM
Seriously. Who opened the Ark of the Covenant?

Something like Hemorrhage, which would cause some healing and then increase all healing the target takes from the next few dozen healing spells, would be awesome.
Andraste Apr 9th 2010 2:14PM
A little bit like a disc priest's grace then? ... although I suppose it doesn't cause a bit of healing to start - it just has to be stacked by heals.
Vladeon Apr 9th 2010 8:09AM
Holy Avenger's Shield.
Got 3 tanks on 25 man all on Marrowgar and they need to be healed? Bam! Holy Avenger's Shield. It's like chain heal, but on a frisbee. Now that's something I can get behind.
