No comments on the possiblity that melee combat is just gone for hunters? They said something about removing mongoose bite and having more ranged abilities early which implies there may no longer be a close range penalty.

We'll still have raptor strike for melee -- and the real important one, Wing Clip!
Keep in mind that since they're giving level 1 hunters pets, beginning hunters won't be meleeing nearly as much (or at all) and I can definitely see that putting all those melee abilities in the very first experience you have with the class kinda gives you the wrong idea as to what the class is all about :)

I would be so happy if they removed that dead zone.

For the love of Nessingwary, let this be so.
That comment and the fact that Disengage will have a high focus cost are strong indicators that we may be coming out of the beta thinking for our class and being seriously re-thought and re-worked.

Yes, for the love of god, please get rid of the dead zone once and for all. It's a stupid and archaic mechanism that has hung around far too long. Either remove it, or force every other ranged class to have their own dead zone.

Although it's true that we're one of the unique classes that can deal a good chunk of our max damage even though we're moving (Shotspams still prove a nice spike damage), I still think it's unfair when we are the only ones who HAVE to stay out on Marrowgar and Festergut/Rotface (I forgot which one had the ooze and the angry poo-poo). I'm sure there are other encounters, but while all other RANGED classes can cast stuff like FIREBALL (Burnt hands, much?), FROST NOVA (Cold feet?), Chain Lightning (Bad Hairday in a click of a button) and other spells in zero-range, we can't use our guns as a Coup de grĂ¢ce, and bows and crossbows as a pile bunker? I don't really see why we suffer so much from range.
And I don't know about you, but on bosses with HUGE hit boxes, I always back out too much to avoid the damn dead zone that I'm out of range for healers. Perhaps that's just me and my baddiness, but is that really necessary for this one class?
