"Their actions are hardly forgivable in the case of the humans, but one has to keep in mind that the crux of the conflict between the two was a matter of perception; the humans viewed the Forsaken as creatures no better than the mindless Scourge that had wiped out a good chunk of the population. The Forsaken assumed that the hostilities were something that could never be overcome, and so instead of trying to reach some sort of reasonable accord, they simply killed everything that stood in their way."
Except they were overcome. After Detheroc was killed and the mind control on Garithos and his forces in Lordaeron was dispelled, they ALLIED the Forsaken to retake Capital City from the dreadlord Balnazzar. It was Sylvanas and her undead who after the battle betrayed the humans and took Capital City for their own. It's not a matter of perception, things were very clear, the Forsaken willingly made themselves enemies of the Lordaeron forces there and by extension the new current Alliance and Scarlet Crusade.
