Lemming, TBH, that's what gets me. The idea that druids are *supposed* to shift forms - something they stated over and over last I recall - which we have to do in order to get offensive spells! If there is something I really want (cyclone or dash, lets say), then I shift out of a form to do it. Its a trade-off that we knew going in to the class. I've played long enough to remember dreamstate healers to get around the "you can't dps in tree form" issue, but trees were always the better healers of the two. (When comparing apples to apples, of course, as far as skillsets / gear went.) Dreamstate druids could heal, and do it well when played right, but if you wanted to really run an endgame raid, you were a tree. Movement slowness and all. (And it forced you to shift of tree to keep up with the raid... I still do this out of habit sometimes.) And vice versa, if you wanted to really DPS via spells, you were a moonkin, EOF.
If I want to pop a tranquility as a cat because we're taking massive aoe damage and a lot of ppl are low on health, i shift out and do it...
If I need to BR someone as a bear, I shift out and do it... (and pray I don't die from the armor bonuses going away while tanking a mob... lol)
My first reaction to this was a far extreme "HELL NO!!". After reading stuff before posting, I'm still more on the side of meh on the issue than seeing it in any sort of a positive light.
If the "bloom" (or new TOL) sprite could be made, why couldn't that BE the new form, if the explanation is that they didn't have the resources to make an update to the sprites, so they changed the mechanics?
Why couldn't there be a glyph to "show armor", instead of the other way around? You can still show off your armor via inspect... And if being in tree form in PVP meant you died first, then go caster form, popping tree when you had to. It doesn't take THAT long in a 3v3 to figure out who's healing, even without being in a form and having 3 classes that are capable of healing. Half the time when I'm healing WG, I start off in kitty form anyway, just for the stealth / stun in the beginning.
And to whoever said to yap about it a year ago, I didn't know about it then. All that I had read on Cataclysm was very hush-hush to the point where I gave up. No one said anything about anything that I could find.
Admittedly, I didn't pay it as much attention, because I thought at the time that it sounded like they would do some thing that would *entice* me to switch forms more... Put back the movement restriction perhaps. Not *force* me to switch forms *less* because it's on a 3-5 minute long CD and it only lasts 30 seconds. Staying in caster form for the CD actually goes against their stated wish that we switch more, since we'll probably save it for use only when we really need it...
And I already do shift quite a bit, so do many (not all) that are not "top dps", or "top heals" because shifting to do something else will cut down on the recount meters. I think thats why a lot of druids DON'T do it, actually. They're too concerned that their guild / raid will kick them for underperforming (or are too busy showing off), when a well timed innervate / tranquility / etc from a kitty / tree / owl / bear could save the group. Same with top DPS rogues... Many have not 1 interrupt during a fight - even if the fight needs it.
Since I'm equally feral dps / resto (I don't really have a "Main Spec", other than what I'm specifically running in a raid at that moment), I'm both a happy kitty, but a very sad tree...
