Emerald Dream is a big collaboration move created about a half dozen machinima personalities. The lyrics were written by Gigi, who obviously also did a large number of the vocals. But you can also hear Sharm and Princess Superstar performing in this piece. Other collaborators include Bloodvein Movies, WoPairs, Teagen and Kam. The video is in part intended to bring some attention to snowleopard.org, so take a moment and go check out that site after you've seen the video.
Emerald Dream is a pretty interesting music video, and I think it definitely grows the "belf rap" genre by leaps and bounds. The music is refreshingly original, although I'm sure as soon as I say that someone will point out that I don't recognize the original version. Even if that's the case, the lyrics and beat were both intriguing. I felt like the overall narrative was much stronger than most music videos, and it definitely raises the bar for these performers.
The video was obviously beautiful. I think if we were to ever see the Emerald Dream archetypified in the game, this must be how it will look. My hat's off to the machinimators who created this video.

Okay, honestly, just because a girl is cute and she games, that doesn't mean everything she does is amazing. I'm fairly impartial when it comes to Gigi, but I just can't stand how you have to include that she's a cute girl to justify why we should like her work.
Maybe my server is female-heavy, maybe I play with mostly other girls, but I just don't find gamer girls so remarkable that I need to make a big 'girl power!' example out of every one that I find.
Get your eyes checked. Don't let a girl's "interest" in WoW distort her looks. If you think she's cool because she plays an awful belf hunter, that's fine. It just doesn't make her physically attractive. There's a reason she's with Nation, you know. 50% of accounts are owned by women. It's not exciting anymore. Acting like it is only encourages girls to act like spoiled brats because they pay $15 to do the same thing you do.
Gigi's voice is growing on me. I don't love it, but it does not make me instantly change the video anymore. However, the chorus in the video was horribly done. I could not understand what was going on. The background music was too loud and the voices had that weird hissy thing going on (I think that may have been Sharm singing and I still can't tolerate her voice).
But overall, the video was nice looking and Gigi is definitely growing as a singer.
I'm not a huge Gigi fan myself, but she does have a good voice when employed properly.
The Marilyn Monroe video was a joke and I had to struggle to listen through it. This complimented her vocal talent more, and with backup singers it actually worked out really well.
I feel this is a good start to redemption over the Marilyn Monroe video.
Yeah, usually I'll give any video put up here a chance, even if previous works of one machinima author has been bad. But even I couldn't get through the Marilyn Monroe video. It's rare that I stop watching something midway through like I did with that one.
I liked the light-hearted and whimsical feel to the video as well as the music, but I found it too hard to understand what was being said. The singing should have been louder and the sound effects quieter. For instance when the dragons roared it completely overwhelmed the video and you couldn't hear the lyrics.
Also, it's nice to see people adding in a good cause to their videos, though I still dislike the amount of intro and ending fluff sponsor-like segments.
Okay, Again, i'm willing to give anythign a chance, even Gigi... over and over again.... and over and over again, im dissapointed.
So despite hating Gigi (justifiably), I listened, I love the nutcracker suite, The lyrics were great, Sharm and princess Superstar were awesome, the machinima was very well done, pretty much everything but Gigi. Really,
This would definately be one of my favorites if it weren't for the fact that it has Gigi in it, After reading Micheal Gray's description, and watching it, i was about to give Gigi props for her songwriting skills at least, but then i saw the credits. So props to Jaja Jarrar for the lyrics, and WoPairs, Teagen and Kam for the machinima. very well done.
Let me adjust that, As i said i was going to give gigi props for her songwriting skills. I didn't realize Jaja Jararr was gigi. so I will indeed say she can write.
I still do not enjoy her singing at all. I wish she would relaly just stick to behind the scenes writing instead of being the singer star, But i'll still listen to the next video that is posted of her work, and i'll hope shes gotten better. im sure i will once again be dissapointed. but we shall see.
Yea, I am Jaja Jarrar... thats my real name... Gigi is my toon so I felt it was more important to use my real name for "Director and Song Writer". I perhaps would have used "Gigi" for all the credits but this video will be shown in an Art Gallery on the 16th and as an artist I feel its a bit important to have my real name involved for the behind the scenes stuff.
Amazing how 3 minutes of a 6 minute video can be pure credits and promos. That's right, 50 seconds of WoW-radio promo and Snow-leopard promos in the beginning and almost three minutes in the end. Amazing way to enhance the length.
By the way, this video made me think that all snow leopard should just die..
I liked the snow leopard part. It's an important issue that they care about and there's nothing wrong with bringing attention to it. The credits at the end are ridiculous.... but at least they are at the END, and not the beginning.
I'm not saying it's not a good cause because it definately is. But I don't really felt like it belonged there, it felt more like one of those adds you have to watch before you can watch certain videos. It seemed forced. I think it would've worked better on its own, giving the narrator the time to explain and emphasize the problem and why we should care. I did not get that it was for real until it was over, because it was not what I requested to see. I requested to watch a WoW Music Video so when I see such a cause being spotlighted I take it for a joke and as a part of the actual movie - some people like to start off their song with a parody (hence: Morning Glory Dew from that Nyhm movie). I expected to watch a video and was therefore not able to take the Snow Leopard cause for anything else but a joke until I realized it was for real.
But 50 % credits is still unnecessary, stupid and a waste of time and effort. No need to make each name appear at a time. Do with the main names: Gigi, Sharm and whoever made the video and then just list them in a row from top to bottom. No need to spend so much of a movie on credits. In my opinion a music video does not even need credits.

I don't give girls special treatment. Even if Gigi was a guy, I'd still dislike her music just as much as I do now.

Cute, maybe, but gorgeous? No. Definitely not.
Certainly not enough to put up with that awful singing voice. Ick.

And a note, Gigi did write them. Her youtube channel has Jaja as her name. Jljarrar.
She did good on this one.

Here I was, hoping it was a parody of Beyonce's Sweet Dreams.

I thought the Snow Leopard thing was a joke, then I see it's a real thing for the real organization. That's fine. Long-ass credits however, are not.

Nice job capturing the artistic essence of the emerald dream. Entertaining. Well done. Good musical arrangement. It all coalesced.
