I usually spend 10-20 minutes flying around mining when my JCer is doing the daily JC quest, which, on a good day, nets me a couple stacks of saronite and a stack or two of crystallized earth which I use to craft JC rings that vendor for 3G and change. The green quality gems on my realm all go for less than 1 G, with the exception of sun crystals and chalcedonys..both of which are over-supplied on the AH so I just make the JC rings and vendor them.

Don't vendor the rings: disenchant them, sell the mats. The market for infinite dust and cosmic essence hasn't dropped THAT much.
