Celestial Steed mount and Lil' XT pet to be sold on the Blizzard store

We don't know any details. That's all there is to say on that. So any speculation about price, functionality, etc... it's all just that. Speculation.
We do know, however, that this is the first mount being sold at the store; and the first useful in-game item you can directly buy with real world money (if you don't count the mounts from the WoW TCG game).

There is a HUGE difference between selling a mount and selling gear. The mount does not increase your performance in the game. Better gear would. You do not use the mount in any fights, therefore it DOES NOT affect your performance in the game.
I am ALL FOR Blizz selling cosmetic enhancements in the game. If they would sell a "color kit" so that I could customize the look of my armor, I'd buy it faster than I'm going to buy this mount!

There's a difference between an item that is useful and one that is essential. As cool as this mount is, it is not a necessity. It's a vanity item. If you had to buy your riding skills for real money instead of obtaining them in game? Then there'd be a problem.
If you're opposed to them selling a mount, no one's making you buy the mount. :3

I would actually buy that.. if it isn't too expensive

A mount isn't "useful" in the sense that you don't gain an advantage in-game, other than oooohs and ahhhhs over what you're riding.
And if it's going to be so easy to get, everyone will have them and nobody will be oooohing and ahhhhing anymore about it anyway. It won't be a status symbol, but instead will become a mark of whorish shame.

Does it matter if everyone and their dog has this mount, really?
Surely buying it for your own enjoyment matters more than raising that e-peen meter?
Barinthos Apr 15th 2010 10:17AM
I completely agree. There are dozens of mounts in the game that only the dedicated raider or extremely lucky player can get. ONE cool looking mount that anyone can get and people get their panties in a wad?
Bronwyn Apr 15th 2010 10:27AM
@Bar
You forget that people are selfish jerks. If they can get something they don't want anyone else to be able to get it.
It's stupid imo.
Barinthos Apr 15th 2010 10:35AM
True, it's pretty sad when stuff like that happens. It's just a mount, anyone that's level 80 pretty much already has a flying mount.
Just because this look different doesn't mean much else. It's not like the Steed is going to crap out epic gems and pee gold. It's traveling, in style! :P

I'm petting my credit card with rapt anticipation of this release. Soon, my precious, soon.
That being said, I'm a casual player and leader of a casual guild. We don't raid, we just DON'T raid. Why? Mostly because you have to be an elitist jerkwad with more time than sense (and a mouse--I'm on a macbook) to Raid.
EPEEN oh sorry, GS of 6m and DPS of 583m or else you can't even roll to be in it. Oh, and you have to have the achievement already because no one is allowed to have a "first time" in a dungeon/raid. Oh yeah, and only after you've run this 15 times (not with us) and already have all the gear will you have a chance to roll on the gear.
Sorry hardcore-ers. Kiss my celestial burrow. I love my 75+ farmed pets, 60+ farmed mounts, AND my casual play style.

I don't understand why everybody is so shocked that Blizzard is selling a mount. It's not the first time it's happened, or did you all forget about RAF? I'm sure a majority of players who got the Zebra and who plan to get the Rocket will be purchasing their own accounts and game time to do so. What is the difference? If anything the Celestial Steed will be cheaper by comparison.

Straight, hardcore, unadulterated, dirty, nasty, sloppy, wet, squishy, dripping, quivering PROFIT.

At first I thought you were describing my Dwarf Hunter. LOL!
Tolsimir Apr 15th 2010 10:14AM
Excellent, one mount closer to the elusive Blue Dragonhawk... not to mention it's INCREDIBLE LOOKING.
Zalvi24 Apr 15th 2010 10:16AM
after getting celestial steed, i highly doubt you be riding the blue dragonhawk
Burnaphatone Apr 15th 2010 10:17AM
I think you meant Invincible looking....
Arras Apr 15th 2010 10:15AM
i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it *gasps for air* i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it i want it
I think I'd pay 15-20ish for the pet (lil' XT is a pet, right?) and a max of 50 for the mount.
Who am I kidding? I've paid almost half my paycheck for the spectral tiger, so I'd certainly pony up for this....pony.
I'd be curious, though, if the steed will work like boa pets from the store and apply to all characters under one account or if it's just one character/one mount? I have a feeling it's only going to apply to one character
