I hear what you are saying and i agree, but you have to understand the how large of a commitment this game is or has become for some players.Me for example, I had 5 years in when i decided to hang it up and move on. Now thats 20-30 hours a week. We'll say an average of 25 per week for the calculation. There are 52 weeks in a year times 25 hours per week which comes out to 1300 hours a year, times 5 years, and we have a total of 6500 hours. Not counting the time to download game patches, research game info (quests/specs/items/raid strats/addons), and sit down to create well written rant posts. 6500 hours is 135.42 days played which comes out to 4 and a half months of continious, non-stop play. Thats just the average time put in.Now if we look at the amount of money put in, right off the bat, i spent $50 for the game and the 2 expansions, so $150 right there. In addition, i paid $15 per month for 5 years. 12 months in a year times $15 dollars a month equals out to $180 dollars a year. Take that times 5 and you have $900. And that is not including the electricity bill to run the computer, the price of 2 new computer upgrades in order to stay competitive in the game, and however much I paid an ISP to have a broadband internet connection to play the game. So, without the details, 4.5 months and $1000 dollars is my average commitment to this MMO. People say, "We'll if your hobby becomes a job, then you should quit" and i agree. But my point is, i'm figuring low end here. What about those players who put 40-50 hours a week in, have multiple 'at-cap' toons that they move from server to server or faction to faction in order to game with a group of friends or find better servers that they fit into that constantly research, blog about, and rant to the co-workers about (or in some cases, lose their jobs over)? Its just insane to try and calculate it and with people needing to put even more time into class research and etc whenever Blizzard decides to make a monor class change, it becomes an overwhelming pot of mixed emotions. The casuals who manage to only sink 15 hrs a week laugh at those that do 3 times that and then have even more fun poking at these people when they create passionate pleas to the game designers not to make the changes so that they can keep playing their class(es) without having to put more time in a relearn and restudy things. So, it was it is. You can't get on a soapbox and tell everyone to just relax, because its never going to happen. Either people will vent and feel relieved that they spoke their 2 cents or they will quit the game and happily move onto other hobbies or time investments.
