i like GearScore only because it lets you know, at a glance, how good the players gear is. I always remember though that they could still be retarded and not know what there doing.

It does give you a decent at-a-glance at their potential, but it's also possible that the gear score is being gathered from gear that is absolutely terrible for their spec in some way or another. I think it's probably a better idea to look at the items and ask if there's anything uncertain about gear choices, personally.

Gonna say again...I don't agree. I tried...TRIED to heal a person with a prot spec that was "gear score" 'd at over 5700 in H HoR and that person got hit like a paper frickin cup. A paly...with a lower gear score by 1k than what my husband who I have healed tons of times in there. So imo gs means nothing....after a few times of fail dps/tanks/healers/etc that didn't meet up to their "gearscore" I deleted the app. It's honestly not useful these days. I've seen 3800 gs'd peeps out dps 5300 gs'd peeps on a daily baisis.

I meant 1k gear score less than my husband. He's rockin a 4800 gs and I have no problem whatsoever healing him in H HoR even when we aren't in the same room....

OMG...fail...twice....Whatever lol. Hubby is barely geared to tank H HoR and I have no porb healing him. GS means nothing these days of handing out gear. It goes to talent...but you can't skip someone not having an achievement to gauge the talent. You will eventually miss out on that one person who will help u pull through

No, it doesnt even tell you that "someone has good gear".
There was this elemental shaman "LF7M ICC 10 Must have 5.2k GS". I took some time to inspect the guy with addon called EYES and what did I see:
Spirit leather gear, green quality gems (that were something like stamina+crit), unsocketed slots, no enchants at all. Some spirit gear would've been ok but the fact that they were bought with badges, making him actually choose leather version of gear instead of mail version was just fail.
My example might be extreme but its not only one happening. Also the fact that people actually joined this guys pug with that kinda gear just tells how many people just blindly follow certain people with numbers. How many times you've heard people needing on "that melee/caster trinket in ICC 5mans to just most likely get better GS"? I know I have a lot of times.
Lastly: I really liked this post. I've always been wondering about priest gemming. Even tho I dont play one, it makes me you know.. know priests bit better. Priests are still bit oddball for me. I have no idea how they get mana and all those simple things (then again I think some priests mana regen is based on "druid innervate me" mana regen..)
