The Queue: Conclusions

Alright, alright. I'll tell you guys what I had for dinner the other day. I've danced around the subject enough. The vote was 50% for KFC and 50% for Taco Bell at the end of the polling day, so I flipped a coin and ended up going KFC. Since I had so many suggestions for it, I ended up going with the Double Down. I'll be honest, it was pretty good. Your heart would die a painful death if you ate them regularly, but as a one time thing? Yeah, it was delicious. Totally worth it.
Andostre asked:
"I read in the very last Blizzard Battle Plan that Deathwing is emerging from Deepholme. What is Deepholme? Do we know how Deathwing got there?"
Deepholme is the Elemental Plane of Earth. Or at the very least, it's a part of that plane. It's more or less Deathwing's domain. Deathwing got there by simply going. After his last failed attempt to do various generically evil things, he ran to Deepholme to tend to his wounds and plan his next attack. Cataclysm is going to be that attack. He's going to burst forth out of Deepholme, shattering the walls between Azeroth and the Elemental Planes.
Andrew R. asked:
"What happened to the Echoes of War soundtrack? The site has been down for weeks now, if not months. Amazon doesn't have the collectors edition or any variation of it in stock."
I've been avoiding this question until now because I have absolutely no idea what happened to it. None at all. I figured I would answer the question today with a link to iTunes and hope it was sufficient, but I don't think it's even on iTunes anymore.
Your guess is as good as mine.
R. asked:
"Will Blizzard ever institute a Bah Humbug achievement for those of us who despise and refuse to do any of the silly 'holiday' stuff?"
I have no answer to this question, but I am somehow amused that you want an achievement for your refusal to do achievements. I don't think that's how it works.
Alanid asked:
"Does the Lich King have amnesia? He has thousands of undead soldiers that could overwhelm the players just in Icecrown but for some reason he's just like, 'Nah guys it's cool, I'm just gonna chill up here for awhile. Wait, what's Tirion Fordring and 10 to 25 nameless heroes doing here?' "
If you're never going to do the Lich King encounter, go find a video of it. Specifically, find one that lets you hear all of the dialogue. I'll spare everyone else reading this the huge chunk of spoilers, but there's a reason the Lich King hasn't just murdered you all yet.

"Alex ... you're not crit immune!"
I had no idea what you were talking about here until I remembered that I linked my warrior's armory. Yeah, I know I'm not crit immune. I blame my trinkets. I've lost Loken's defense trinket to the DPS in the group a few times, I can't get any of the others to drop, and I don't feel like spending badges on trinkets quite yet. Badge trinkets won't get me any defense, anyway.
I've picked up my shoulder enchant and a new cloak since you saw my armory though, so my defense is a bit better. Still not capped for raids, but closer.

The Double Down made me think of Tracy Jordan's meat machine.
Trinket was the first thing I bought with frost badges (figuring that Cata will be out by the time I'd have 2 piece tier 10, anyway).

i dont understand all this negativity about the KFC double down - it has less fat and calories than a big mac (which is actually a pretty small burger nowadays when you look at the menu at places like hardees). fast food places almost exclusively use white bread on their food which is pretty awful for you as opposed to wheat. slap a bun on the thing and all of a sudden no one cares?
Matthew Rossi Apr 19th 2010 1:48PM
It's the massive sodium count that really concerns people, not the fat as such.
Wowcoholic Apr 19th 2010 2:09PM
ugh, sodium - i'm getting sore just thinking about it.
eROKv Apr 19th 2010 4:16PM
a mcdonalds double quarter pounder (not even considered an overly-large burger nowadays) has +200 calories, +10 grams of fat, and the same amount of sodium as a double down.
PvtDeth Apr 19th 2010 7:18PM
I'm an overly-large person and I consider the double quarter pounder to be an overly large burger.
The sandwich is not worse than some of the other ones on the market, it's just as bad. It's just the idea of it that's so disgusting.

I believe I had read in one of your add-on spotlights of a command that would allow one to view which add-on is responsible for a given UI element, but my powers of googlery fail me. Do you recall what command this is? TIA
vanye111 Apr 19th 2010 2:08PM
/framestack I believe was the command.

Well running threw the dungeon finder on one of my alts the past I started wondering what blizzard will do with the old school instances such as Maradon and walling caverns etc once deathwing sunders everything... Will they remain untouched or will they get an overhaul to fit the new theme of the zone?
Samutz Apr 19th 2010 2:25PM
We know that Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep are being upgraded to lvl 85 heroics (http://www.wow.com/2009/08/22/blizzcon-2009-cataclysm-dungeons/).
We know that there will be brand new dungeons.
We know Gnomeregan as a dungeon will be removed and become the Gnome's home city.
As far as other dungeons, nothing new has been announced as far as I know. Probably the least popular ones will be removed or revamped, and the popular ones will be updated with new lore since much of what we've accomplished in them will have passed lore-wise. Eg. Naralex in the Wailing Caverns will have finally completed his goal and will no longer be found there, but maybe we'll have a new reason to go there.
I also expect that some will be destroyed in the cataclysm.
Although, I would like to see some of them integrated with the main map and turned in to quest areas so that they aren't completely removed geographically. I think this would work well for outdoor instances, such as Zul'Farrak and parts of Scarlet Monastery.
divinite Apr 19th 2010 2:34PM
@Samutz: Actually Gnomer is not going away as a dungeon. The gnomes are only reclaiming the top part of the city. Gnomer will then become an instance within the city, much like Stocks or RFC.
Samutz Apr 19th 2010 3:14PM
From my understanding, they're reclaiming the surface pre-Cataclysm in preparation to take back the entire city. By Cataclysm's release, they'll have reclaimed the entire city.
It doesn't make much sense to be taking down Thermaplugg, for what's supposed to be the final time, just to reclaim the surface. I'll be very disappointed in Blizz if the Gnome's still don't have all of their city back by the time Cataclysm is out. We've killed Thermaplugg enough for it.
Healr Apr 19th 2010 3:56PM
Samutz, you are misunderstanding how chronolgy works in WoW. All things are not happening at the same time. The things you experience in low level happens before the things that happens at high level. Since the game world in consistent, this leads to some paradoxes (like Nesingwary being in three places at once).
Gnomeregan the lvl 30 instance, complete with Thermaplug, being in game while Gnomeregan the recovered capital being in game following the defeat of Thermaplug a second time, is perfectly normal in a persistent game world where you follow a storyline as you level up (and beyond).
Every day you enter Stormwind or Orgrimmar, you encounter characters that exist in the same place at the same time, yet are at different points in the storyline, thus in principle are in different points in time. This concept was probably easier to grasp back when they didn't progress the OVERALL storyline (throughout vanilla say), than it is today when they are also progressing the "current" storyline, that is, the part that level 80ies are at (even though lvl 80ies are obviously in different points, has the Lich King been killed yet for YOU or not?).
Time paradoxes is something you will always have to accept as a big part of an MMO.
Samutz Apr 19th 2010 4:19PM
@Healr:
I know all of this already. And this would apply if we were getting a whole new continent/dimension tacked on to our current world that leaves the old Azeroth largely unaffected.
But that's not what we're getting. We're getting an updated Azeroth. Cataclysm is finally supposed to progress past the lore that currently exists in old Azeroth. We're supposed to be seeing the results/effects/repercussions of the events that happened during Vanilla, not continuing to re-live them for at least another 2 years.
Blizzard has already stated that new players/character will be playing in the new Azeroth. There will be no return to Vanilla's Azeroth, or it's events, for anyone. This should be old Gnomeregan included.

Gnomeregan stays.
