Choose My Adventure: Week 3 recaps
Choose the adventures of the WoW.com staff as we level our characters in <It came from the Blog> on US Zangarmarsh-H.
Our schedule for the rest of the week:
Amy Schley as Patent, the troll rogue
Greetings from da Patent troll. Dis week's adventure ... well, dis week's adventure started out nice enough. A whole group of us went down to da goblin town of Ratchet to meet up, and we had a huge dance party in da inn. Dose brudda trolls really know how to dance mon! Afta' dat, we headed south and killed some pirates for da bossmon goblin as a great big mob. Lotsa fun!
Oy boy, doh, afta' dat, we had some big trouble mon. We decide dat being loyal membas of da Horde, we oughta go defend our sawmill in dis battleground. Me and da bossladies Faience and Robinemia try to do our part in defendin' our flag. Dis not work out too well, doh, wit' dis nasty gnome lock and evil druid constantly killin' me. Not fun mon! And den of course da battleground leader was all mad at us for not knowin' what ta do or how ta do it.
I gotsta admit, I never done dis stuff before mon. And I'm still not too good doin' my rogue voodoo. I don't come from a rogue fam'ly by de way. All my brodders and sistas eit'er kill t'ings from a long ways away or do deir fightin' wit' a great big sword and shield and wit' metal on. Me? All I gots is dese two little daggas and some animal skins between me and da spirit world. I been seein' da spirit world a lot.
Mon, I be gettin' down on my knees ta say dis. For da love of da Luas, for all da voodoo, for da love of Bwonsamdi himself, please don't make me do dis again! I be a good troll -- I will kill every hoofless zevhra in da Barrens, find da wife of poor Mankrik blindfolded, do ya' any embassage to da gnomes rat'er dan go into a battleground again!
Matthew Rossi as Andrenorton, the troll mage
I ran to Silvermoon. Once in Silvermoon, I assassinated night elves and dwarves for some blood elves, then turned two apprentices into monsters for their teacher and sold the bag he gave me. I then ran south, gathered party supplies for a madman, and fought a lot of Scourge so that I could verify for a blood elf mage that the Dead Scar is indeed infested with necromantic magic. You'd think they would already know this, but there you go.
I also spent a lot of time running around trees with angry forest lynxes very slowly chasing me. Frostbolt became my go-to spell because without it, things very quickly caught up to me and stabbed me right through my nice red dress. (Attached is a picture of my nice red dress, before it got lots and lots of assumed tears from lynx claws.) I then was tasked with wiping out some Wretched, but by then, I was fairly tired.
Being a mage is very odd. I'm hoping to run around trees less next week.
Michael Gray as Grayfields, the tauren hunter
I was going to write this in character. But, as the votes decided I would PvP tonight, I hit Warsong Gulch with a fury hereto unseen. How'd I do? 100+ honorable kills, Warsong Perfection, Grim Reaper, Not In My House and a few others. The experience of Warsong Gulch on a hunter -- even one relatively low level -- is like poetry in motion. Sure, sure, I had the same angst everyone else did (damn shaman!), but I got lucky and the teams I played with worked together, was helpful, and all was well.
Robin Torres as Robinemia, the undead mage
Death and orange. Orange and death. Going to Warsong Gulch at the earliest possible time in one's development is not something I encourage any mage to do. I imagine that healers do much better, because at least they can heal the flag carrier, but my Frostbolts were ineffective on the more experienced Alliance that were my opponents. I attempted to protect the flag with Patent and Faeince, and I died. When back in the Barrens, there was more orange, but less death. And pirates! We slaughtered pirates for the goblins in Ratchet. We also slaughtered cats for their claws and raptors for their heads.
The Ratchet goblins sent us to fight a group of people called The Venture Company. I need clarification as to why The Venture Company is bad, but the Steamwheedle Cartel is good. They seem to do much of the same things. I do tend to have issues with this bad/good distinction in general, however, since I am technically not alive. It is hard to value life when I no longer have it. Regardless, Faience and I took care of some bad goblins, ogres and their colleagues, as the good goblins requested.
More polls will go up on Friday. In the meantime, we have more pictures, some which have been taken from our fellow <It came from the Blog> guildies:
If you want to join in on the fun of Choose My Adventure, please join us on US Zangarmarsh-H in <It came from the Blog>. Ask Robiness, Robinemia or any member online for an invite. Guild ranks of Lurker or above have the ability to invite. You are all welcome as long as you play by our simple rules, that can be summed up with "Don't be a Funsucker!" Also, please see the guild FAQ for the most common questions.

Haha, moar PvP please..! Maybe wait a few levels, ok, but you'll get it, little troll rogue :)
Never forget that dying will always be part of the BGs for many classes. Just wait for your res, and go at it again with a vengeance!
Also, more importantly, the question on everyone's mind: WHEN, when oh WHEN, can we finally vote for Archmage Pants to roll his warlock?! Bring it on!
Possum Apr 21st 2010 9:22AM
I think the wait is so that they can stockpile enough liquor to get Belt drunk enough to actually roll a Warlock.
CottonCandi Apr 21st 2010 10:13AM
He is shivering in his frosty pants over the whole ordeal. Be hard to badmouth locks when he finds they are better....Get him drunk and lead him to the dark side!!!
Kittens Apr 21st 2010 10:23AM
/cackle
And if he doesn't get fully converted to our delicious darksided corrupting-everything-in-sight and feeding-on-mage-QQ-beverages lifestyle (quite addictive, that stuff), he can at least have the pleasure of Hellfiring his own lock to death as many times as he wants..!
Until Cata that is.

@ Possum
Probably should throw a few pies in there, too
Pyromelter Apr 21st 2010 12:07PM
Varian Wrynn will be laughing and joking with Garrosh Hellscream at a Winter Veil feast before Christian Belt rolls a warlock.
Kittens Apr 21st 2010 1:18PM
@ Pyromelter
Yes, but the beauty is, we can MAKE him roll one now :D
If only they whip out the poll for us to do so!
And I think it's gonna be loads of fun to read his warlocky adventures :)

Heading in to WSG on a new alt is a truly humbling experience for most I think. I have done the 10-19 bracket WSG on 6 or so classes and some of them clicked but others... well the spirit healer is awfully nice for offer no complaints to frequent customers. Keep at it I say, once you get a little closer to the top of the bracket, I am sure it will be more fun.
Also, what kind of BG leader thinks that it's OK to harp on people in that bracket sheesh, other than twinks most people are just figuring out how to use thier PvP abilities at that level.
Derrek Apr 21st 2010 10:25AM
The 10-19 bracket is the most imbalanced in the entire game. A level 19 can easily 1- or 2-hit a level 10-14 player.
Rogue and Hunter are the absolute best classes to take into this bracket. Their high crit chance at low levels lets them take on higher levels with some chance of success. They hit hard enough at the high end that a even a group of several players level 15 and below poses little threat to them. I had the time of my life tearing up absolutely everyone in WSG on my rogue at level 16-19.
For a rogue, get a slow, hard-hitting sword for your main hand and a fast offhand. Open with Garrote and spam Sinister Strike. If you get 2 or more CPs use Slice and Dice on targets that don't look very dead and 3 or 4 CPs to Eviscerate on those who do ( unless they're running away, in which case Rupture before they get out of range ). Beyond level 15 you'll kill things fast enough that you usually won't have a chance to spend your combo points, so getting even a 1-point S & D or Rupture will be an attractive damage option.
Groth Apr 21st 2010 10:13AM
The Steamwheedle Cartel is good because they give us gold. The Venture Company is obviously bad because, hey, if they were good, we wouldn't be killing them, right?
jjtwalton Apr 21st 2010 11:09AM
I would bet my house, 2 cars and tuesdays hooker (Kandi) on the fact Rossi despises rolling a mage.
Poor guy.
Tori Apr 21st 2010 11:35AM
Props to you Matthew for not using the 'pretty' troll face. Even better...not the pretty face with a mowhawk. x)
Honestly, every female Troll looks the same because 90% of people seem to choose only that one face, and again most of them choose the mohawk hairstyle as well. There's nothing wrong with that really, I understand why, but it just gets a little stale seeing the same female Troll everywhere you go.
When I play a female Troll I want her to look savage, not vapid. I try to choose some of the features that aren't commonly picked so that I stand out from the others.
Tokkar Apr 21st 2010 1:13PM
<raises hand, sheepishly>
Guilty!
Even when I created the machinima, "Quest: Impossible", which later became my "Tales from the Crossroads" webcomic, I used the "pretty" face with the mohawk for Oln'a.
<hangs head in shame>
Hmm...maybe she'll get involved in a huge fight, get all scarred up and have her hair butchered so badly that she's forced to change the style?
Meh...only if Jekk switches schools and becomes a warlock do I see that ever happening...
...hey...that could be...hmm...
Tori Apr 21st 2010 1:23PM
Haha, no worries. xD I was mostly teasing about it, there's nothing wrong with choosing that face. It just amuses me how many Troll clones I see everywhere.

I LOL'ed at this because of my own XP as a mage. If anyone has ever fought a good mage, which requires chasing him all over the map and died a slow and frustrating death and then nerd raged about it they can rest assured that the mage died many, many.....many horrible deaths before honing those skills. They are well represented in PvP because of their extensive toolbox of abilities. However, the learning process is a slew of very quick and frustrating deaths resulting in a trip to the graveyard.
Pyromelter Apr 21st 2010 12:02PM
Hunters are by far the most overpowered class in pvp at low levels. Your pet alone will wreck people, and if you take the survival talent to increase range at a low level, you are basically going to be an untouchable killing machine. On top of that, if you get a decent ranged weapon with some decent ammo... really, you are unstoppable low-level pvp god.
I don't agree with the poster above about rogues though. Yes, they have a lot of burst, but they don't have a lot of their higher level abilities that make them a real pain. Rogues are also super squishy at low levels. Also, the overwhelming majority of rogues are not taking http://www.wowhead.com/spell=13971 at low levels, and can be seen through stealth very easily. The exception to this would be dedicated pvp rogues, and outside of the twink non-exp bg's, there probably aren't many doing this.

Rossi sounds so confused being a clothie its hilarious.
Pyromelter Apr 21st 2010 1:35PM
Dear Mr. Rossi,
I know that playing a mage for you must make you feel like a rhinocerous in a skirt. I would urge you to stick with it however, because frost mages actually can do some tanking. Get yourself into the mid level 50's, and head to Alterac Valley. Make a bee-line for Captain Balinda, make sure you have a healer, put up Ice Barrier... voila. Mage tank. (If you want to be really pro, you can see when she is casting fireball or frostbolt at you, and you can use fire/frost ward to absorb that damage.)

Does raid at all? My RL friends have left the game and I'm considering transferring to Zanga but want to know more since moving my whole army of alts will be quite expensive.
