The Queue: Goblins and worgen

Whoa, Cataclysm questions that we might be able to answer? No way! I'm in shock. Truly. Look at the shock on my face. Do you see it? Yeah, pretty sweet, I know.
Babaloo asked:
"Will places like Gilneas be available to other races in Cataclysm, also, will they function as towns and stuff or for one time, one race staging zones? I'm really worried because it seems like they could've done a lot for those."
So far it sounds like Gilneas is going to be primarily used as a starting zone and then a battleground after that. Unless I'm horribly mistaken, they haven't said anything about us getting new capital cities at Gilneas and Kezan. You'll do the starter quests and then you'll move on. Hopefully this analogy isn't totally useless, but picture it as the draenei starting zone except Exodar is a battleground instead of a city with an auction house and that whole bit.
Andostre asked:
"Do we know what the goblin and worgen racial mounts are going to be?"
Goblins are getting some sort of hot rod roadster. Like a Formula 1 racer except smaller, crappier and a goblin made it so it's probably going to explode. Worgen? From the concept art we've seen, they ride some kind of bizarre abyssal pig or something. Personally, I think they should just ride horses since they were originally human. I suppose that would be pretty boring though, they need something original. So they get to ride some absurd thing the Cataclysm coughed up from the bowels of the planet.

"Mage? Or Warlock?"
Shadow priest.
KJP asked:
"What happened to the mobile version of WoW.com?"
It's still there. If you're not seeing it, that's most likely because you hit the link choosing to click through to the full site once upon a time. When you do that, it tells your phone to remember that you did so, and it will always take you to the full site so you don't need to click through every time. It assumes you prefer not seeing the mobile site. Yeah, it's pretty wonky, but the alternative is you need to make that choice every time you switch pages. So it's annoying for some one way, annoying for others the other way. If you clear your cookies on you mobile device it'll go back to the way it was.
No promises, but we may have an iPhone app coming sometime in the future so this isn't even a concern. Don't expect it tomorrow, don't expect it next week. Don't expect it next month. Don't weep if it never happens. It probably will though.
Eldoron asked:
"Are there seriously people who want to roll a goblin? I mean, of course I cannot understand gnomes either, but goblins, really?"
Uh, yeah? Of course I'm rolling a goblin. This world clearly needs a sultry female goblin technomage in it.
Yeah. That's right. I used the world sultry to describe a goblin. You have a problem with that?

The one by the Orgrimmar zeppelin to Grom'gol also offers to take male characters into the steamy jungles and "show them a real jungle cat." She's quite a sassy little green minx.

They're definitely at the right altitude.

Goblin girls are spunky and adorably bad ass rather than saccharine and vaguely creepy Loli-tastic the way gnome girls are. I freakin' love them.
I've wanted to play a Goblin ever since they announced WoW, to be honest.
Wrabbit Apr 21st 2010 3:08PM
Goblin mount FTW!
Seriously though, all my toons are Alliance and I'm rollin a Goblin Rogue day 1. Waaaay cooler than Worgen IMO.

the only thing about the goblin mount that gets me is..
How on earth are you going to fit a tauren on that? the goblin barely fits!
Grovinofdarkhour Apr 21st 2010 4:29PM
Tauren will have to fold the seat down and stand on it. Remember Michael J. Fox truck-surfing in Teen Wolf?
kunukia Apr 21st 2010 7:28PM
Goblin on day 1 for sure!!

I wanted to point out what I think is a mistake on Mr. Ziebart's part. He suggested that the blue post which indicated there would be no "capital" city in Cataclysm refers to the races. That is not what they were talking about. They said there would be no new "Shatt" or "Dalaran" in cataclysm.
They have, to my knowledge, said nothing about the worgen and goblin starting areas. It would be way out of character for Blizzard to make those two races without any "home" of their own. It's one thing for the dwarves and gnomes to share "Ironforge" since their two cities bordered the same low level zone. Same idea for the Trolls and Orcs.
The Goblins won't be sharing the same newbie zone with anybody, nor the Worgen ... so yeah ... I'm pretty sure they will have cities. At least, I'm pretty sure that Blizzard hasn't said they won't.
Wrabbit Apr 21st 2010 3:13PM
They are giving Gnomes and Trolls back there home cities, so with that knowledge I don't think they will be adding another TWO new cities on top of that in the same expansion.
Ulurjah Apr 21st 2010 3:19PM
Wrabbit ... what logic are you applying there? They're giving the Trolls and Gnomes their own starting areas. To my knowledge, they are still sharing Orgrimmar and Ironforge, respectively.
That doesn't change the fact that without a city (trainers, professions, bank, auction house), the Worgen and Goblins will be the only races that don't have a city that borders their starting zone. That would seem to saddle anyone who plays those races with a hefty disadvantage right off the start.
Narayana Apr 21st 2010 3:20PM
Goblin starting zone is Azshara which abuts directly to Orgrimmar after the cataclysm.
Ulurjah Apr 21st 2010 3:22PM
Really? I read that the Goblin starter zone is out in the sea a bit and you get to see how Thrall brought the Goblins into the horde *shrug*.
Also ... Azshara is quite a bit away from Orgrimmar at present ... and I don't recall reading anything about it shifting to bump up against Org.
Resident Horrible Apr 21st 2010 3:37PM
thought the new Goblin City was in Azshera?
Eldoron Apr 21st 2010 3:23PM
They only give starting zones to Gnome and Troll, not entire cities. Gnomes, for instance, won't retake all Gnomeregan, only the upper halls. The dungeon will remain too.
Nerina Apr 21st 2010 3:27PM
Pffft. They will both have newly-built cities in the Western Plaguelands, after George Michael fuses with Deathwing and wipes out the Scholomance area in an event called "Caerless Whisper."
eragon147 Apr 21st 2010 3:29PM
Actually, they are adding a northern entrance to Org from Azhara
Guttsu Apr 21st 2010 3:32PM
Actually, the Goblins are going to be building a small section of their own in the back of Org that links directly to Azshara. And Ulurjah, Azshara has always been directly connected to Orgramar, its right above it actually. I'm sure the Worgen will have a similar setup.
Wowcoholic Apr 21st 2010 3:41PM
Check out the zone information at wowhead, they have a nice run down of things we know so far. As for Azshara (the zone) it will have an entrance to Orgrimmar and be a lower level than it is now. It is NOT the starting zone for goblins, that's Kezan and the Lost Isles...which are off the coast of Azshara.
And the worgen are getting a new section of Stormwind to call their own, probably just northish of the Catheral district.
Rob Apr 21st 2010 3:54PM
My guess is that the devs will take the lessons of silvermoon city and exodar to heart and not make any more cities. They'll have a starter town, then a quickish way to get to SW or org from there. It would be completely pointless to spend dev. resources on a huge town that won't be populated by more than 5 people a month after launch.
Noid Apr 21st 2010 3:10PM
If worgen come from humans (put in short that is), shouldn't their mounts be a creature (or some type of animal) that came from a horse? In other words....
Worgen derive from Humans.
Worgen mounts should derive from Human mounts (hourses)
