Would like to do a Hordie but I don't really feel "the dark side" at all. But I am leveling up a gnome mage cause I never made one yet. And actually leveling up engineering while I'm at it. Would like to see what others say and might try out what their ideas are.

Level a Tauren, they're decidedly less evil. And avoid all the Forsaken quest givers. Especially in Hillsbrad or anything entitled "New Plague."

Just stay away from the Forsaken and you should be right.

I fail to see the evil in the things you're mentioning.

@Luci
There is also one where you kill a Tauren, after getting oozes out of Un'Goro. I did that one on my druid first. Talk about being pissed...I haven't done any of the plague related quests on that toon since.
Yeah, that means that I'm not going to be able to do Wrathgate on him, either. :( I may bypass the rest of Dragonblight (he's 74 now...) and go directly to Grizzly Hills.

I rolled a horde about a month ago just to give the horde side a quick look. It's a completely different game. I've never met so many friendly people in my entire life. O_o

I sort of feel the same way about the Horde. I have tried to level one a few times but hit a roadblock when I realized that I really just don't like the Lore/Culture/Setting it is based on (especially the Forsaken now). To each their own of course. The only one I have consistently liked are the Tauren. I have always said the Alliance should trade the Gnomes to the Horde for the Taruen. :)
So after reading the recent Wow.com article about the history of the Tauren I really wanted to see all their lore before Cataclysm changes it all. So I rolled a Tauren Shaman and am working my way through all the cow quests, really reading the text and talking to all the NPCs. It has been a LOT of fun. I don't know how long it will last past the Tauren areas, but hopefully my love for Cow Culture will help me push through. I would really like to see the BC and LK settings from the other side too.
Good luck.

You must be bizzaro Tim. Or am I bizzaro Tim?
I only play horde for the most part but have rolled a pally, trying to only level through questing. It is fun seeing the other side.

Tauren seem the coolest. Once you get to Stonetalon and move onto Thousand Needles it's all gravy. Plus the questlines there have some pretty choice pieces of lore going on.

If you enjoy lore, I would agree to go Tauren, but - and this is just my personal opinion, I'm sure others disagree - I feel that Mulgore is probably one of the most annoying areas in the game. It's large, slow to get around, and generally easy to get lost in. If you already know your Tauren lore well enough, I actually suggest Blood Elf. Not only is their starting area interesting and streamlined, now that BC is over and they're no longer holding a naaru hostage, the Blood Elves are probably - counting the race as a whole, mind, rather than just certain people - the easiest to relate to and feel sympathetic for.
And I agree the person that said to stay out of the Forsaken quests, they're all really horrendous - personally, I like to think that a lot of the Horde is more like, say, Thrall or even Cairne than Sylvanas. Heck, Vol'Jin's a good guy too minus the cannibalism thing. And Lor'themar (and the other belfs to an extent) were just being used by Kael'thas, they thought what they were doing was right until they found out what it really was. The Forsaken are the only horde race that seems actually "evil".
(Although Blood Elves are my favorite race. =P)

You know what's funny?
My two favorite races in the game are Draenei and Forsaken. You couldn't pick two races that are farther apart on the morality/alignment scale.
Although I've found that I also really like the blood elf storyline/questing areas, so right now I'm leveling a blood elf hunter, and will go level in Kalimdor while my forsaken warlock levels in EK.
