WoW Magazine polls the community

The first is a request for tips, hints, and other useful information for the "Battlegrounds Back to Basics" feature, regarding Eye of the Storm in an upcoming issue:
The industrious gnomes and goblins at World of Warcraft Official Magazine are currently working on the next issue. One of its regular features is "Battlegrounds Back to Basics" - this time around covering Eye of the Storm
As part of that feature, we're looking for hints and tips from EotS veterans. Is that you? If so, please feel free to post your favorite one-line strategies, tactics and tricks that help give you the winning edge. They can either be team oriented, or even class specific. The best suggestions will be incorporated into the feature as quotes - and of course your character will be fully credited. Remember – these should be straightforward one-liners – we're not looking for long paragraphs packed with intricate details.
Thanks in advance to all!

The second involves the upcoming beta for Cataclysm, whether or not people are avoiding it and what those that are opting-in are looking forward to among other things. Is this a hint that we'll see the beta for Cataclysm before we see the next issue of Warcraft Magazine? Who knows -- but check out the post for more information on what kind of feedback they're looking for:
The gang at World of Warcraft Official Magazine would like to know if you plan on participating in the Cataclysm beta. What about it gets you excited? What should people know before opting-in and participating? Are you purposefully avoiding the beta and all information? Do you love to hunt down bugs, do you thrive in a world of the unknown, or do you despise the impermanence of a testing environment? Tell us about your best experiences from past tests, missed opportunities, your dos and don'ts, your beta hopes, and anything in-between! The best posts will be incorporated into the feature as quotes, and your character will be fully credited.
Thanks in advance to all!

I'm expecting the expansion following Cataclysm to be out by the time we actually see issue 2.
Tokkar Apr 23rd 2010 10:56PM
Well, in all fairness, they say that the $39.95 subscription is for 4 issues. They DIDN'T state, however, that this was, you know, 4 issues...per year...or in a row...or...
Moomin Apr 24th 2010 7:43AM
Yes, fair point. They didn't even say they'd be publishing them in the same universe.
Damascus Apr 24th 2010 12:59PM
They also said if you subscribed by Feb 28 you would get Issue 1. I did so, but they didn't process my card til March 2, and no issue 1! :)

One comment I have for EotS play is that if you are a veteran player and are in a pug, you often run into situations where players less familiar with the battleground will obsessively go for the flag and fight in the middle even when they have no bases or just one base. One way I have found to prevent this is to cap the flag initially and then just hold it. This encourages the rest of your team to fight on objectives and trains those new to the battleground that the flag is one one objective, not the end all be all.

Alexstraza looks to me like she could have Deathwing off in seconds.
A good tip i find for Eye of the Storm is to assign groups to certain objectives, but this is extremely rare, and depends on you being the Battleground leader (95% rate if you join as a group) So you organise players into hit squads.
This task is not for the weak of heart & mind, but you may find, every once in a while, you get to reap what you sew, and see your seeds blossom into beautiful non noobish flowers.

like anyone is going to tell me what to do. it's a a cap the flag game, and a battle ground. so i cap the flag and kill the alliance. to he|| with what some random chosen player that happens to be "Leader" says.
Angrycelt Apr 24th 2010 4:12AM
You just keep doing that. Nothing I love more than beating down solo-monkeys like you.

You my friend, is what we call in our world... And Imbosile
WaterRouge Apr 23rd 2010 7:59PM
....Alexstrazsa has certainly put on some...growth since we killed the Lich King..
Deathwing looks like the smallest (in power) final expansion raid boss yet!
Rombo Apr 24th 2010 11:36AM
are you serious?
Mike Apr 23rd 2010 8:15PM
I honestly dont think they need a poll on if people want in on Cata beta
jfofla Apr 23rd 2010 8:39PM
I have been in every Beta for WOW. I always do the same thing, download it, install it, log in and look around for 10 minutes, then never touch it again.
I am in Starcraft Beta too, did the same thing.
I just can't get excited to play something that you can't keep what you earn.
Murmel Apr 24th 2010 3:22AM
@ jfofla
Well, that's silly. If you get into a beta, you should use the key or just not accept the key so that blizzard can pass the key onto someone else so that they're getting valuable information from a tester, rather than having the key wasted. Not saying I want the key, If blizzard offered it to me, I would say no right away because I know I won't enjoy the beta and that someone else will enjoy it more than me.
Just a thought

If you're Alliance, the prevailing strategy seems to be fight in the middle until the Horde cap all the bases and win. This is somewhat similar to our AB strategy of fighting in the roads until the Horde Five caps.
(Still hoping they create a BG where the goal is to mindlessly fight in roads. It's about the only chance Allies would have of winning anything.)

@Joey lol
Too bad it's on the US forums when EU gamers can't post. I would have loved to take part to the thread on EotS.
My one-liner: If you capture the flag when the opposing team controls the flag respawn point, you are essentially giving them the flag. Don't do that. Always check the middle before stepping on the stone.

Betas are a No No for me.
I will also stop reading information sites like this one or others like it when actual gameplay info from beta starts coming out.
When I install and patch the game upon release I really need a fresh perspective in order to enjoy it. It will completely ruin the whole thing for me and turn it into just another content patch if I learn everything before hand.
Plus I don't like my characters being deleted by anyone but me. I cant even attempt to play anything I know is temporary.

I would pretty much kill to have a high res shot of that cover art for a wallpaper.
