Blizzard details upcoming Echo Isles content

The official Echo Isles page indicates that there's plenty more going on to trouble the Darkspear than Zalazane, outright stating that Horde leadership will undergo a schism, and that Vol'Jin has potentially dangerous information about the political struggles that both the Darkspear and the Horde at large are undergoing.
One confusing bit of information in there, though -- this is on the official Cataclysm site and listed as a Cataclysm feature, but it was formerly announced as pre-Cataclysm content for Patch 3.3.9. Is it possible the new experience has been pushed back, or is this just being pushed as a Cataclysm feature to draw in new trolls?
Either way, Cataclysm should be a pretty exciting time for the Darkspear -- you get your island back and you get to turn into a bear.* What more could you ask for?
*certain class restrictions may apply

I seriously thought this said "Echo Isles Contest" at first, and at first glance the "*certain class restrictions may apply" further reinforced that confusing illusion!

Bad link on that official Echo Isles page

Nicely fixed.

Seems to me there's no confusion. The trolls take back the Isles pre-Cataclysm, in the final confrontation with Zalzane, until the next setback. Then any new trolls post-Cataclysm will start there, with all the trials and tribulations of re-establishing a settlement and these rather disturbing developments about the Horde's political situation...Damn you, Hellscream!!
Here's hoping the final phasing of Cataclysm Horde-side is Thrall returning to kick Garrosh's backside back to Outland!

That's how it read to me, too.

"...Echo Isles was merely a setback."
Vankay Apr 28th 2010 3:06PM

Tethra Apr 28th 2010 3:08PM
Yeah, it read that way to me, too. It seem to be simply detailing the new starting zone for trolls that will be in place after the event.
Vankay Apr 28th 2010 3:08PM
"maybe" freaking dislexia!!!
Alaskan Apr 28th 2010 3:15PM
Amen to Thrall kicking Gayrrosh back to Outlands so he can burn in his basic campfire back in Nagrand.
scott Apr 28th 2010 3:24PM
vol'jin should be next in line to lead the horde after thrall, with saurfang taking over leadership of the orcs. not some upstart chump.
sigh. viva la basic campfire!
Sithril Apr 28th 2010 6:42PM
/support Thrall kicking Garrosh back to Outland, WITHOUT a portal
Armenius Apr 28th 2010 2:53PM
It's saying the zone is in Cataclysm, not the taking it back event. I don't think they ever implied trolls would start leveling in Echo before Cataclysm
Juggynaut Apr 28th 2010 3:02PM
Hallelujah, My Warrior's coming home!!!
can I get an amen?
Alaskan Apr 28th 2010 3:17PM
Amen brother...now let's just hope you wear some shoes in Catacalysm.
Thon Apr 28th 2010 2:57PM
That political trouble sounds interesting.
My guess is that Vol'Jin, or some other important troll (or trolls) will find out about the potential Cairne murder, or maybe even witness it! (If that spoiler turns out to be true) As a result of people finding out about Garrosh's evil schemes, he goes apeshit, and as a result he has an angry political debate with Vol'Jin! I mean, uh, scratch that last part.

Hopefully in Lincoln-Douglas format.

"Be it known by all here present that on this day, I, Garrosh Hellscream, as duly appointed representative for the united forces of the Horde, do hereby charge the treacherous Alliance dogs with the summoning of a Demon Lord against warriors of the Horde on Tuesday, the fourteenth of April, two-thousand and nine on someone else's imaginary calendar, in the place known as the Argent Coliseum, northern Icecrown; and pursuant to this charge do hereby establish claim of grievance against said Alliance dogs for this and other crimes against the noble warriors of the Horde, for which all appropriate recompense is hereby demanded. Witnesses to said summoning including, but not limited to, Thrall, Warchief of the Horde; King Varian Wrynn of Stormwind; Lady Jaina Proudmoore of Theramore; and myself, shall be called to testify as to the nature and details of the events of the day in question."

Judge ready? Opponent ready? Ok, 6 minutes on the clock: With the coming attack on Horde settlements by Deathwing, Ragnaros, and Alliance forces, the Horde needs to stand strong under the guidance of a leader who is not tactically retarded and bloodthirsty nearly to the point of demonic possession.
Thus, I affirm today's resolution, "Resolved, the various component factions of the New Horde ought to follow the lead of someone other than Garrosh Hellscream" by enacting the following plan:
Plank 1 - All component factions of the New Horde will swear fealty to A Basic Campfire through executive order.
Plank 2 - Funding and enforcement through normal means.
Contention 1 - Garrosh Hellscream will cause nuclear war.
A) Hellscream chooses to fight with the Alliance instead of work against Yogg Saron. (Blizzard '09)
B) Hellscream wanted to fight with the Alliance in ToC, weakening our armies facing Icecrown. (Bilzzard '10)
C) Hellscream will eventually equip the Horde with welfare epics in order to make them stronger when fighting the Alliance (LFD, '10)
D) Internal Link: Welfare epics will destroy the in-game economy (Blizzard Forums, all the goddam time)
E) Impact: Economic failure will lead to nuclear war. (Mead, 92)

"...or is this just being pushed as a Cataclysm feature to draw in new trolls?"
That's all we need, more trolls in trade chat. :(
