If you don't have enough bars, you should seriously look into using Power Auras.
Some times, you don't actually need a timed bar for some things, you just need to know if its on or off, or how many stacks. Power Aura is great for that.

For example, procs are things you can't really control. They usually proc as soon as the battle starts and then again after the internal CD is up. I use Power Auras to show me when each proc is up so I know when to use my cooldowns (or ask for one like Hysteria) for multiplicative benefits. When my screen starts lighting up, I know its time to go all out!
