Daily Cataclysm Screenshot

The latest Cataclysm screenshot from Blizzard is shown above. Click it for a higher resolution image. Quite a nice scene! The water represents the new rendering that we've been hearing about for a while, and the entire environment has some very nice textures applied to it.
Mike Sacco thinks it could be from the (upcoming) Twilight Highlands. Other people on staff think it could be the Swamp of Sorrows or Wetlands post-Cataclysm. We won't know for sure though until Blizzard says something. (Note to Blizzard: Can you provide some lore associated with these screenshots? Or at least a few lines in a blue post telling us where they're from? Thanks! Love, The Community)

Looks awesome, my concern is this: I think my character is going to look very out of place in something like this. Cartoony characters + more and more realistic environments = visual cacophony?

Well with a screen like that, I highly doubt that they will leave the models as they are, it would be such a letdown.
They just aint telling us they are gonna do it till the last minute to make it all the more exciting when they post some human models that are not wearing skin coloured oven gloves.

They're going to look like super mario next to that you're right. This I think is why blizzard keeps making armor models that hide more and more of your toon, to hide how shitty they look compared to the rest of the expansion!

Joking aside for a moment of relevant sarcasm. Thank the maker they redid or removed druid forms just in time for this collision of hyper realism and fantasy combat mmorpg.
Sarcasm aside for a moment of awe. Dude- wow. That looks awesome. I think Blizzard is going to make thousands of players across the country want to upgrade their computers.
Awe aside for a moment of fiscal responsibility. Anyone else see an uptick in computer supply company stock coming around the time of Cataclysm launch?

No problem I got personal solution.
I got wooden PC so that means I will never get to see these graphics without frying my 3D card or making huge lag because of that water.
Im bit pessimistic because yeah, wotlk looks sick with shadows and all but honestly it lags my computer so damn much I have to use lowest of lowest graphical settings because sadly the shadows arent that well optimised (because it would take ages to make them so, I understand).

See Tirion's face on the Arthas death movie? Maybe characters will look like that, which is a huge improvement, but doesn't matter how realistic Blizzard makes WoW look like with the lastest dx11 engine, your chars will always have cartoonish graphics, it's proposital.

Twilight Highlands. It looks like the Wetlands but less swampy, and reminds me a lot of the mountain areas like Dun Argol for some reason. Ergo the Highlands.

It's Gilneas. Lamp styles are the same as the other Gilnean pics, and the skybox is identical too.

Oh, I can see how this would be Blasted Lands. Remember a while back in a Twitter Dev chat they said that the Tainted Scar would become a new worgen area? Bingo.

I vote Dustwallow Marsh too. Looks just like one of the bridges right outside of Theramore. Even if it isn't it looks like a good time I start looking for video card upgrade. lol
