The Queue: Wherein Gray feels guilty

I caught up on The Queue this weekend and only then did notice Sacco's ungulatophile nature. I was immediately stricken with an overwhelming sense of guilt. Why would I feel so guilty, you ask? I only had just then finished making plans for my first pig roast.
So, like, there I was, researching and making plans on how to roast a pig. Then I tab over and am immediately presented with Sacco's tiny baby piggy. So I felt a little guilty. Sue me.
I will now assuage my guilt by answering the questions of our loyal Queue readers. I'm using you for catharsis. It's like a pity date, but I deliver at the end.
The infinitely well-named Knuckleneck asked:
"It seems inconceivable that no one from Blizzard has even commented on the uproar over the School of Hard Knocks achievement for the Children's Week meta. Should we take this to mean that Blizzard is going to ignore complaints from both PvE-centric AND PvP-centric players, and keep such a frustrating "every-man-for-himself-regardless-of-the-week-long-ruination-of-battlegrounds" achievement as-is?"
Welllll. To be fair, there's a difference between "hearing complaints" and "taking the action the complainer might want." Crygil posted back in 2009 that they don't consider the achievements outside the reasonable bounds. But while Blizzard might not be making any changes regarding the School of Hard Knocks, there's no doubt they're plenty aware of how many people dislike the achievement.
What we don't know, though, is how many people do like it, how many people completed it just fine or if the achievement as-is will remain in Cataclysm. I'm guessing that we won't be rocking the same long, strange trip in the expansion, at any rate.
Wellsee asked:
"Please help me with this noobish question. I need something made that I can't make myself, and the people I know can't make it either. Once I get the materials together, I'll go to trade chat in Dalaran and ask for someone who can make it and offer a tip.
When I find someone who can make it, do I just hand over the mats (worth hundreds of gold on their own and about 1500 once made into the item) and just trust the person will make the item and give it back? What can I do to protect myself, other than asking them to link their profession and be sure they have the formula?"
Handing over expensive materials to a craftsman is scary as heck. There is nothing you can do to protect yourself from fraud, if the crafter decides to take your stuff and bail. You can open a GM ticket, and I've heard some good results from that. But as a rule, if someone is going to fraud you, you're hosed.
Consider posting on your realm's official forums if you're nervous; that gives you a little more chance to find a reputable player than random trade chat.
Hex asked:
"In Cataclysm, will the Blizzard designers be completely redoing the underlying mesh of the landscape, or are they patching what already exists to make it flyable?"
On a conceptual level, they will be making use of what already exists. Since the new land resembles the old land, it should be visually reminiscent.
On a technical level ... the only people who can know for sure right now are the designers. However, I think the complete redesign of the areas mean they're probably starting from scratch for all intents and purposes. They might get to save a little time with the odd bit of terrain and model. But when you're talking about something of this scope, the difference between reusing tiny bits and a 100% fresh game is relatively mild. It's kind of like saying that this edition of The Queue is a repeat because we've used all of these words in different posts, in different contexts.
Talyre asked:
"My toon is a female but whenever Deathbringer's Will procs, i turn into a male version of the new race. Any idea if Blizzard plans to bring some gender neutrality to the proc?"
I was stymied on how to answer this question, so I asked a good friend of mine who plays a female warlock. She popped Metamorphosis and said, "It's probably not going to become gender-sensitive any time soon."

Where have the daily blues gone? Seriously its been more than a week someone must have said SOMTHING since the last one.
Bernie Roscoe May 3rd 2010 2:25PM
Agreed. I miss them.
dawnseven May 3rd 2010 2:33PM
I've seen people ask the same question multiple times in different comments sections, but I've never seen the issue addressed. Are the Daily Blues being held for ransom?? Is that it?? >.>
Vaeku May 3rd 2010 2:54PM
They were nice, but I don't miss them as (to me at least), they're easier to read at MMO-Champ. And I have this site, MMO-Champ, Wowhead. and the official forums all in a folder so I can open them all in tabs at once.
V Magius May 3rd 2010 5:03PM
I think it's less held for ransom or nothing to say as, it's been covered in a different article.
Take Children's Week and the Northrend Orphans. Do we need to put that in Daily Blues? It's been covered exhaustively on it's own.
Oriflame May 3rd 2010 7:21PM
It was funny, a few people were grumpy about the feature when it came out, saying MMO Champion covered the same ground. I liked it because I didn't read MMO Champion that often... but now that the feature died here, I read that site way more.
Sedirex May 3rd 2010 8:34PM
MMO-Champion does a much nicer job of laying them out.

Why don't any of the fountains in Stormwind work? It seems a trivial thing, but it seems like a city as large and rich as Stormwind, which has canals running all through it, could put up a little dough to turn the pumps on and get the water flowing.
Pauguster May 3rd 2010 2:04PM
How did she say that while Meta was popped? And if she did how did you understand her?
BubblePriest May 3rd 2010 2:41PM
Clearly the answer is that he's a disguised demon and can therefore understand Demonic perfectly.
Maymer May 3rd 2010 4:00PM
Rosetta Stone:Demonic of course. I hear they are introducing a new Murloc one as well...but all I hear is MRGHALDGHGHGGLLLAGHLL...i think that means QQ or something, I don't know
Qot May 3rd 2010 4:22PM
Loosely translated, it means "You no take seashell!"
ScorchHellfire May 3rd 2010 4:28PM
Funny thing is there aren't even female models for most of the races that trinket uses... the only one would be Vrykul... although I doubt female Gorlocs would look much different from males... and you would think Taunka females would have a distinct model but no... they are just female taurens...

Do you think they might get around to changing the class combinations for tier tokens in Cata? I'm tired of having had the same people fight me for 5 tiers. Our token lists for warriors/hunters/shamans and drood/mage/rogue/DK are literally half the length of the pally/priest/lock list. Some of our warriors are working on a 5-set bonus, while our pally healer is still waiting for his second token.
Alternatively, they could just shift the drops to better reflect the raid makeup. 80% of the raid is pally/priest/lock, there's an 80% chance to get p/p/l token.
Zandrae May 3rd 2010 2:52PM
My raid team has never seen a pally/priest/warlock token drop in ICC, nor have we seen one drop in Ulduar until after it was no longer relevant content.
Approximately 50% of our 10 man raid team is on that token.
Jimson May 3rd 2010 3:01PM
It's so frustrating... back when Naxx was current, our 10 man group consisted of 2 pally tanks, a ret pally, 2 priest healers, and me (a lock). I ended up switching guilds to do more 25 mans, and ran into this group. We generally have at least 4 raiding locks, not to mention the glut of priests/pallies.
Tbah May 3rd 2010 3:53PM
To comfort (?) you, in the 25-man raid guild where I raided for couple years the raidgroup usually had 3 rogues, 4 mages, 4 druids and 3 DK's.
Competition was awesome.
Not.
threesixteen May 3rd 2010 5:56PM
my old guild ran EIGHT hunters (partly why i left) in ICC25. plus 2 Shamans and 2 Warriors. lol. and there was no dkp. just free rolls. /wrists.
tresser May 3rd 2010 2:08PM
I get asked to link the item i'm about to make for someone, even after the customer has been spamming it in trade for the past X minutes. "oh, could you link it for me so i know i have the right mats." is what i see most often. I'm happy to oblige.
I also don't mind if you want to group with me so you can see it being made in my cast bar. or i'm on my alchemist, and you want to see the procs.
I get it. And i understand your fear. Just be sure to tip appropriately. thank you.
