Breakfast Topic: What's new with you?

I've been having a lot of fun with my It Came From the Blog alt lately,(check the polls and updates to follow along with the latest adventures from the guild!) now that I've hit level 20 and I can ride around in comfort. With level 20 came a few milestones; getting a mount, the fact that this is the first time I've gotten a warrior beyond level oh ... 15 or so, and suddenly I had a level 20 warrior quest! I realized as I accepted it that this was something entirely new. I'd never done this quest before. For someone that has Loremaster on multiple characters, this is a rare and exciting thing -- I had no idea what it was for, or what I would be doing, or what I would get at the end!
So I decided to go through the chain and deliberately keep myself in the dark. No Wowhead, no hints, no spoilers, just playing it through how it was intended to be played. I'm in the middle of the chain now and the quests are red, so I'll complete them as I go along, but I'm looking forward to finishing it! The warrior class is entertaining -- I find I'm enjoying the aspect of being the one that wants to be hit, rather than the one that's trying to avoid it.
Speaking of having my head beat in, the other "new" thing I found myself doing was registering for the 2010 Arena Tournament last night. I don't arena. I barely PvP. I'm terrible at PvP, so I've simply never done it, because I figure it is better not to clutter up the arena and frustrate other players with my outright awfulness. However, a friend has convinced me to give it a try, and against my better judgment I am going for it -- after all, the worst that can happen is I will get beaten repeatedly.
Arena scores don't go into the negatives, right guys? ... right?
So what's new with you? What's something in game that you've never, ever done before? It's rare that I find these things and seek them out, but as Cataclysm approaches I find myself wanting to try the things I've never done before just in case they disappear or change. And an additional challenge to those of you looking for one -- that new thing that you thought of? Go out and do it! You may end up like me, somewhat bewildered by the experience but thoroughly enjoying it.

Um...first thing I want to do before Cataclysm in case it changes...OOH um...Pull all of Gnomeragon and kill everything and everyong (including that annoying Thermaplugg) in one fel swoop. Consecration + Retribution = Screwed low level instances. I mean..who knows how long we have to punt those disease infested gnomes? Get em!

SPOILER ALERT: Gnomeregan isn't going away anytime soon. We only retake the surface.

Honestly, i'd like to see a lightsaber duel in-game, whether it be by NPC's or with those foam swords from the card game.
Happy International Star Wars Day everyone!
May the 4th BE WITH YOU!

"Arena scores don't go into the negatives, right guys? ... right?"
For you? Im sure they'd make an allowance.

So you're registering for the arena tournament as part of doing everything you can in case they go away with Cataclysm... right after a post about non-disclosure agreements?
What an interesting coincidence with no possible further meaning whatsoever.

I'm not good at conspiracy theories, but I think I just might see what you're driving at here.
Blizzard caused the oil spill, right? No? Uh...Eyjafjallajokull maybe?

One big hole in that conspiracy theory you got going on there though. He never said he was doing it in case it went away with Cataclysm, just that it was something new he was trying.

Errrr by he, I mean she, of course. Sorry Anne!
Lousy missing edit button.

I just finished the rep grind for the skywing mounts! I love doing these type of BC things at 80 where it's less painful than agro magnet'ing at 70 ...
neogramps May 4th 2010 8:46AM
Ditto - just got my Sha'Tari Skyguard Ray mount last night - was a fairly easy grind, and made a fortune in greens, greys and cloth!

New. Um. PVP Healing. I've been getting my pewpewpew lazer pants on.
It's equal parts frustrating and rewarding. It's given me a lot more awareness of pvp healers out there (lots of disc priests) and it's a whole new ballgame as they say. Nothing like bubbling someone at 10% then lazering them up again and watching them turn around and kill their now infuriated attacker! :D
Beruza May 4th 2010 8:33AM
I think I saw somebody on my realm with the name pewpewlazerpants, or at least something very similar....
Possum May 4th 2010 9:44AM
That's cause pewpewlazerpants is an awesome name :D

When I started playing BC had just recently come out and when I was approaching lvl 50 Wrath came out so I never really stopped to enjoy a lot of old world stuff. It was just a mad dash to hit 80. I never did ANY instances or raids before hitting Outlands and can count on my fingers the number I did there that were not lead by a lvl 80 guildie. Now I am leveling a mage (lvl 57 atm) and doing so with great help from the Dungeon Finder and 20% XP bonus via heirlooms. It is really interesting to see all these old instances and how they compare to ones made for BC and ones made for Wrath. AOE seems to be king in the ones I have done so far... so much so that I am nearly tripling the DPS of the next best person. I can't wait to see what Outlands instances are like when the entire group is of the proper level.

Well with the return of the mohawk grenades, a few guildies and myself took it upon ourselves to deliver the night elf goodness to the denizens of Azeroth. We even tried to hunt down our guild's "Den Mother" while she flew all over Kalimdor trying to avoid her pitious fate. It was a lot of fun as we talked trash over vent. There was laughter, tears, BETRAYAL! It was pretty awesome. A really good bonding and getting-to-know-each-other experience for a lot of us.
So for me, it was really the first time I ever really talked in vent besides the occasional "So can someone go over this for me real quick?" I finally feel like I'm starting to really become a part of the group, granted I've only been a member for a few weeks, but still.
I also capped the flag for the first time in EotS last night...Also won it for the first time, too. And surprisingly, School of Hard Knocks managed to get me to actually LIKE one of the BGs I outright despised.
Squatstopee May 4th 2010 8:52AM
Getting comfortable on vent with strangers who then become people you can count on for help/advice who then become good friends is a good feeling. A warm and cozy feeling for sure!
Felix_NZ May 4th 2010 5:47PM
Don't even start on EotS. Had a griefer on our own team last night who took the flag, then spent 10 minutes running round and hiding, refusing to cap the damn thing, so that no-one could get the achieve.

The other day I found a quest in Howling Fjord to kill (rekill?) a murloc's undead son, and in Dragonblight I did some group quests to kill a series of successively larger magnataur. Those were new for me.
Um ... I rerolled the same undead warlock multiple times until I got an imp with a name I could stand (seriously, the first time it was named "Kupnut". Ugh), and now I have a level 6 warlock? Of course, knowing my luck my voidwalker will probably be named "Thatlishp" or something. Blizzard needs to institute some way to chuck out your current pet and summon a different one.
rncbinc May 16th 2010 3:17PM
@ Fletcher
You can , all you have to do is dismiss your pet and re-summon it.
