Official: Dalaran Children's Week quests not repeatable this year

We are aware of the issue that is currently affecting the Children's Week quest line in Dalaran which does not allow players who have completed the quest line last year to take part in it again this year. We do not currently have a fix planned to address this issue at this point in time.
To clarify, this issue won't be able to be resolved for Children's Week this year. If you completed the quest previously you won't be able to complete it again for the other pet this year.

I think they can do better with the one billion dollars a year in our subscriptions.

Incoming hatestorm.

^^ Haha, true that. I'm glad Blizzard admitted it now than keeping people's hopes up any longer.

25 pages of QQ on the forums.
Not that I don't think it's lame that it's not being fixed.

So they're going to make people wait another year because they screwed up?
jfofla May 4th 2010 7:03PM
That just sucks. I was in the middle of doing all the Children's week stuff last year, and did not want to do both the Shat and Dal Orphan Tours. I said "Ah, I will just do two next year to get the Achievement".
Screwed...so now I wait another year.
michael.doucet May 4th 2010 7:05PM
You don't have a problem. This in no way affects your ability to get any achievements.
Meat 0verlord May 4th 2010 7:07PM
You don't have to wait, you just can't repeat it if you have done it already. You're fine.
Read the second quote again. ;D

I have no idea what you guys are talking about.
1. I got one of the three pets from Dal Quest last year.
2. I got the second of three required pets from the Shat Quest this year.
3. I did re-read the second quote and it STILL says I cannot do the Dal Quest this year to get the third pet.
So what am I missing?
Hollow Leviathan May 4th 2010 7:25PM
Because the three pets you need for the achievement are all from the Shatt orphan. Not the Azerothian nor Dalaran ones.
Henrah May 4th 2010 7:25PM
There's 8 pets in total.
3 from the Azeroth Quests.
3 from the Shattrath Quests.
2 from the Dalaran Quests.
People who did the Dalaran Quests last year, cannot get the 2nd Dalaran pet this year.
If you didn't do the Dalaran quest last year, you can do it this year.

I'm confused. You had three options for the Dal quest? There were two for Dal, three for Shat, and three for Org/SW.
There are also three orphans, and it sounds like you didn't complete it the first time. So, you can get the one set of pets this time. Whether you completed them or not, you can only get three pets total during the event.
Lastly, are you sure you did the Dal quest. That was separate from the Children's week. They didn't have it in time, so it was a special event that came with a patch. I want to say 3.2.
jfofla May 4th 2010 7:49PM
OK now I finally get it. Sorry for being dense.
It takes three years to get the Achievement because they only come from Shat. I got one last year, one this year, and one next year.
Sorry for the confusion.

Grab an orphan from Orgrimar or Silvermoon and do the quests with that one. You're not limited to the one from Dalaran.

Disappointing I'm sure. This isn't the only thing Blizzard has ever screwed up. It just stands out because the event only lasts a week and there is apparently not enough time for Blizzard to fix it and get all the servers updated before the event ends.
But remember this is only an "issue" because it only lasts a week. If this affected some new questline that wasn't going away any time soon, there would be no issue. I urge people to just accept it, get over it, and move on with enjoying the game, because (I hope) most people aren't paying $15 a month to do 1 week worth of quests.
jrb May 5th 2010 3:53AM
aah. the old.. "i'm paying $15 / month" line. If you've done the quests you've done the quests. You can still get the achievements from the other cities. Move along.
