WoW.com's Weekly Comic: Byron, the Tauren Rogue!
Welcome to another edition of the WoW.com Weekly Comic, Byron the Tauren Rogue!
People. He made it. He's finally there. Nothing can go wrong.
Nothing.
Mark my words.
Also, sorry about the less-than-stellar shading job. I had to rush home after work, so I had to borrow a wee 4X3 Wacom. There will be a prettier comic next week! Come back for more Byron, now with the recommended daily dose of action.
Check out the full version right here, and tune in next Tuesday morning for a new page. You can also see all the previous pages in the gallery below.

Well-Done lighting, skilled use of a limited Medium, a Rare reference to the faction/race language barrier, delicious Talbuk steak on toast..... and now I've made myself rather hungry.
Anyway, that's some commendable honesty on the shading job. Given the time and environment of the setting, I probably wouldn't have noticed anything amiss if you hadn't said so. The strength of the other artistic aspects (especially the angled shots) filled the gap in its stead.

Kelly, you are tearing me apart!
I love the Alliance... stealing Bolvar's shield?! I could never condone such a despicable act! You monster!
But then... you make Byron all loveable and such. Could I really wish for his failure and demise?
I just don't know what I believe anymore. Who am I?

One of those moments in a story that always makes me want to warn the hero of the impending trouble.
Watch out Byron! There's a tiny pink-haired monster with a serious attitude problem after you.
Special K May 4th 2010 11:37AM
Yeah. That happens sometimes:
Watch out! Creepy cow-loving Stormwind Guard!
Watch out! Crazy Gnome lady!
etc...

TALBUK ON TOAST!
deathpool1984 May 4th 2010 11:34AM
Outstanding job! I do believe this is my favorite comic series yet!

I don't get to see the game from a horde player's perspective much. Thanks to this comic, I can now see how downright creepy that pigtail silhouette can be. Haunting....
galestrom May 4th 2010 12:06PM
Byron better look out. He's inadvertently incited the wrath of the pigtails, which as every boy knows, is a /very/ bad idea. =)

Those pigtails...
Those GNOMES...
*rocks back and forth*
Never having played Alliance myself, I've tried to put a lot of work into making Stormwind look acceptable. Only time I've been in there myself was to get the Elder (and do Stormwind Keep on the fly). Big as Bryon may be, Evi's a tiny ball of daggers and fury...what will happen?

HE GOT THE SHIELD!!! YAY BYRON!!!
Nizari May 4th 2010 1:01PM
Once he grabbed it, shouldn't he have just hearthstoned out?
Tokkar May 4th 2010 1:39PM
The CHICKENROCK??? ;-)
Cadychan May 4th 2010 1:39PM
....Shhh. >_>;
;)

An orc or undead rogue surely would have h'stoned, but he's a WALKING STEAK and he doesn't think quickly enough.
But Byron is fantastic! Props to his creator. I pay homage to him everytime I get the Toshley's station engineering teleporter debuff that results in male tauren form by stealthing (I play a dwarf rogue) and standing in the doorway to the AH in IF or SW. Everyone stops to look at the Tauren Rogue.

Byron had filled his packs with poisons, engineering supplies, and [Thistle Tea], just in case. Thus, when he found [Fordragon's Shield], his bags were full, so he had to drop SOMETHING - and his hearthstone was the only thing in his packs he hadn't paid for.
After all, it's not THAT far a walk to Kargath...

Congratulations, Byron, but I think it's time to cue Admiral Ackbar!
I looked at the comic before I read your post on it, and I thought the last panel was artfully done using flat, contrasting shades for the objects. I don't know if that was a creative solution of the limitations of the tablet you borrowed, but I liked it regardless.

Silly Kelly, don't you know about what they say about tempting fate? XD
Bart May 4th 2010 4:06PM
Whats with the silohete? (Can't spell)
*jaws theme*
oh dear...
