This new piece by Asiko, Gigi, and Nation is a response to the bajillion ... anti-fans of their work. (What's the word for someone diametrically opposed to a fan? I don't want to say detractor or troll or such, since those words have much different connotations. Anti-fan it is, I guess.) A lot of this video boils down to the message that "you might hate us, but we're successful anyway." Unto the anti-fans they say, Cool Story Breh.
One of the interesting things about belf rap, though, is that it is successful. While there's something about the genre that drives many people insane, traffic and subscriptions to those folks' YouTube channels, videos, and webpages tend to be pretty high. For all that commenters and reviewers often dislike belf rap, they get pagehits and a very large audience.
And I know from observation and personal experience that very few people bust their hump as hard as Gigi to work with new folks, bring new artists into the light, and try and get traffic to struggling machinimators. And while rap (or belf rap) certainly isn't my bag of tea, I definitely respect her attributes in that regard.
Edit: Due to oversight on my part, I wanted to make sure I pointed out that WoPairs is the machinimator behind this piece.

I don't know about everyone else, but when I say "Cool story bro" it's almost always sarcastically. To clarify, if someone's story fell flat, or there was no punchline, I'm tempted to say it to almost recover the situation with a joke. My friends are all nerds and geeks, so they all get it...
Reading through that again, I'm not really sure I was clear, but I don't know how to say what I mean. I'm definitely aware of how ass-holish it sounds, but it's just a joke that I only use with people who get it.
It has always been in my experience, when something (anything) is successful even in the slightest, there are always people opposed to it "just because". These people tend to be: Ignorant about the subject, impossible to talk to unless you agree with them, flock in packs of 3 or more. If this sounds like you, please learn to learn :P
You know, Im not a big fan of Gigi. Its not to say she's not sucessful, its just her voice is grating. But for all their talking about not caring about all the trash people are talking about them, Why are they taking time to make a video QQing about it? Just a question.. and
In fact, if you as me, it's more like they're responding to it. People say stuff like that to machinima artists all the time and do it to try and get a rise. The fact they aren't going on about how "zomg u gaiz r rong! i r 2 so kul!" they're responding that they don't really care that you don't like them. There are plenty of people who do.
Now I'm not a big fan of rap and I agree Gigi's voice can sometimes be a little hard on the ears, depending on the song, there are some good things about her work.
First off... I LOVE BM. My hunter is BM and I actually do pretty well in pvp. Have a pretty decent arena rating going... which just reset with a server transfer but regardless.
Play the game for you, and how you want, not how someone else tells you to.
Anyway, these artists need to keep doing what they're doing. They're having fun doing it, so who cares? You don't like it? Don't watch it. I find it funny reading comments like some of the ones featured in the video.
"You suck, I don't watch your vids or even vids featuring you." Yet you comment on them. Mmhmm. Validation right there.
I dislike BE rap, but then I dislike most rap. Trolling people in game because your jealose or don't think they should get the praise they do is weak and lame.
As far as the song goes I think its about standerd for BE rap, I didn't like it but I'm sure plenty of people will. No idea why though.........
"But for all their talking about not caring about all the trash people are talking about them, why are they taking time to make a video QQing about it?"
I'm one of those people who has been critical of this, "genre," but it blows my mind that there is anyone out there that would actually bug people in-game or even email them with personal attacks. That's ridiculous!
Meh, I'm just glad to see the vid's that break this mold and take creativity to the next level. I don't see that in this genre but, no big. :)
People who troll other people's specs and such seriously need to get out in the fresh air.
Dr. Dre vs Eazy E, Tupac vs Biggie, Emenem vs Benzino. Now its this guy and whoever he is talking about. The rap game is pretty hardcore, I hope no one gets hurt this time.
Thing about youtube vids is that the number of page hits does not differentiate between the "im watching this video because its good" or "look how amazingly horrid this is" as you show it to your firends or whatever. Someone could hear the name and think "i'ma find out what theyre talking about". All adding to the total "success" of it.
Kinda like 2 girls 1 cup. It doesnt have page hits because it's good.... it's got page hits because it's bad.... sooooo very bad.
Very true... But what's if every video you ever post becomes an instant hit? You can claim it about views but not when its every single video you put out there... Also, what about the number of followers that press the subscribe button so that they continue to watch what you make? Ponder it. =)

Cool story, bro.

Nothing to do with the video but I HATE that expression. So dismissive, so pretend-jaded, so over-used.
Next time you (the generic you) are tempted to reply, 'cool story bro' think about just how dumb and ass-holish you make yourself look.
/end rant.

Hiwa, I voted you up, based on how much I enjoyed your tale.

To their argument that criticism is invalid, I say: success and popularity are not the same as acclaim and quality.

Except those isn't 'QQ' video... It's mocking the trolls in a fun & comical way

I wouldn't say they're QQing about any of it.

I believe antifanatic is the correct word in English for someone opposed to a fan, which in turn, is a shortened form of fanatic.
I have to admit, I didn't enjoy this video very much.
The backing is far too repetitive, and it all just sounds like endless whining.
Deathknighty May 4th 2010 12:17PM
Yeah, the actual message it was conveying was alright, but the way it was presented was basically QQ about QQ.
