Breakfast Topic: I want to sing

The other day I took my tauren warrior into ICC 10 as DPS. I got some compliments for my DPS which was nice, but more importantly, I didn't tank anything at all. Frankly, I've been a dedicated tank since the end of Ulduar, and while I still love tanking it's ever so nice to get a break from it every once in a while. This is probably the reason I'm still keeping my shamans current, as going to the occasional run as a healer pushes me out of my melee comfort zone. It's nice to get to see fights from a different perspective even if it's only occasionally.
Similarly, I'm a notorious achievement hater and yet, when people ask me if I'll help them get the things I usually don't refuse. Partially it's just to be nice, but also I kind of like seeing my achievement score go up without actually working at it: every achievement I get is a happy accident, complete with surprise foosh and a brief announcement.
So how about you? Do you ever stray out of your comfort zones?

I hate to hijack this, but I am giving away a StarCraft 2 beta key.
Since we can't send private messages on here, and I don't want anyone posting their email address so spammers get it, I am just going to post again, and post it.
First person who gets it, gets it.
This is NOT a contest, this is not a scam. It's just a key. If you get it, you get it.

Figured I would get downvoted, as it was hijacking, and looks like a scam.
I replied below, but it was a reply fail.

I too dislike the achievement system. But don't complain when they fall in line with what I'm doing at the time.
I dont like the need some people feel to gather a higher number just for the sake of a higher number. Gear makes my game better, striving for better gear is a worthy cause, achievements on the other hand, dont. And I just dont feel the need to chase them.

Recently I find myself tanking on my now 52 drood, this is because the constant dps hunter slot is begginging to be a bit stale, and i find that many groups love to help when it comes to what I'm doing right and wrong, it's a very welcome change from elitist complaining about GS and DPS, and I love it!

Ugly Kodo.
On topic. I'm on a PvE server and there's definitely those times when you run into an enemy zone and just think "I'm going to tear this shit up until I disconnect, die, or I'm forced to Bubble-hearth!" Hopefully - judging by the base-layout in Mount Hyjal - there'll be a lot more interaction between factions while PvP gear is also easier to get for those who want to get their fight on.
I guess Paladins do everything fairly well, so nothing in PvE is 'new' but I like the idea of more forced PvP in Cataclysm.. get people fighting and having fun. After all, it's only a game... your character isn't real, and you rez in like, 30 seconds.
For most PvE weaklings like me, I think PvP (especially World PvP) is the biggest comfort-shock in the game. So yeah. Looking forward to BGs in Cata!

I love it on those rare, rare occasions when my pally and druid get to DPS instead of heal. It's always an eye opening experience. It's like the classic Eddie Murphy sketch where he becomes Caucasian for a day.

Ugh. I had to go boomy last night. I'm a hardcore healer. I love healing...I love the sound of wild growth...I love bringing someone back from the brink of death, and in those rare cases, bring them back to life.
I mean, it was cool to learn the fights I know by heart from a different perspective.
I was way out of my comfort zone. It was not bad to do something different, but I just..don't....enjoy.....dps as much as I do healing.

Unfortunately I cannot as the game is region separated, if you mean StarCraft 2.
The reason I gave a key away is because we keep being given keys. They gave away another key to people to invite their friends, then some more keys went out, and now they sent two more keys to people. I already gave away one of them, and wanted to give the other one away, I didn't have anyone else to give it to.
You are welcome.

Please delete thoses comments, for the sake of preventing people to fall for that!

Fall for what? I am in the StarCraft 2 beta test. I have extra keys, I gave one away. Do you see a link above to a website? Do you see me asking for an email address? No, I just gave away a key.

Yep, this late into the expansion, I'm really enjoying stretching my paladin's wings (he, he) and doing a bit of Ret-DPS rather than tanking all the time. With an excess of Frost Badges giving me the ability to buy ret-pieces, I'm having fun with my off-spec in raids and Arena.
Good time for it! :-)

As a long time druid, I've pretty much run out of official comfort zones. I tank, heal, DPS as melee or balance as I want to- I've got raider gear for all the specs.
I've also got PVP gear for all the specs, so when I want to have a break, I just respec, change glyphs and I'm away.
The only real difficulty i now face is levelling my priest. And after doing a mage, that's hardly fraught either.
Webwolf May 5th 2010 8:32AM
Strangely enough, my comfort zone? Anything that involves my druid. I am of the Swiss Army Druid persuasion, which basically lets me go Bear/Tree/Cat and fit into any role needed.
Of course, this means that stepping out of my comfort zone involves.... oh, I can't say it, it's just too terrible....
....rolling an alt.
I swear the only reason why I've got alts now is to 1) Work towards my goal of having one of every kind of healer, and 2) To prove that yes, DK raid tanking is viable, an experiment to push the limits, as it were.

I've been raiding as a druid since Karazhan, first as a healer, now as moonkin. I also raid on my mage on weekends and occasionally pug with my paladin. Now that both my moonkin and mage are in ICC 10/25, I've found it incredibly easy to just get burned out on the place.
So on a whim, my husband and I decided to start PvPing. The furthest I had gone into PvP before was an occasional battleground, and then I usually died so much I stopped after one or two. This time we took the time to acquire gear and now we're doing arena.
We're not awesome, but we're enjoying ourselves (we just passed 1000 rating, a pretty big feat for us! lol). Arena is one of the last few shiny "new" things we haven't really explored yet, and it's so nice to find something different to do.

I'm currently leveling up a Prot Warrior to do just that! I've raising a a Ranged DPS (Shadow Priest), Melee DPS (Enhance Shaman), and Healer (Disc Priest and Resto Shaman) so tanking is the only thing I haven't tackled. I'll tell you though, tanking Keri in Normal Nexus (I'm level 73) last night was scary as shit. I'm not used to having a dragon breathe in my face and look at me for more than like 5 seconds.
Dazdor May 5th 2010 8:42AM
I've raided as*
