Since the
Friends & Family phase of Cataclysm testing is currently active, it only makes sense that the private forum for testers is also up and running, as it has been in expansions past. And with that forum comes new icons for players who've rolled goblins and worgen! To the right, check out the basic (pre-85) icons for male and female goblins and male worgen, straight from the official forum art assets.
Unsurprisingly, and hilariously,
female worgen still don't exist, even in forum icon form. Unconfirmed rumors state that the model isn't even in the alpha client at this point. Wonder what the holdup has been for these past nine months.
Or maybe this is just a special icon for female worgen shadow priests. That must be it.

The Blizzard design team is probably awkwardly trying to make worgen female look good while still grappling with their insecurities…
Samwise Didier: How’s this look guys?
Glen Rane: Oh, awesome!
Chris Metzen: Yow, that looks hot!
The rest of the design team:…
Tom Chilton: Okay, now I feel weird about it.
Chris Metzen: (embarassed) yeah, me too.
Samwise Didier: Back to the drawing board!

They are still grappling with the issue of 2 or 6...
warriorpanda May 5th 2010 4:44PM
I say go with 12.
Killchrono May 5th 2010 10:55PM
I knew it.
They aren't releasing the female Worgen so they can tease the furries.

Deep within the walled borders of Gilneas, the once human kingdom has fallen to a terrible curse. The inhabitants, who formerly led quiet lives of peace behind their sacred walls, have slowly succumbed to an ancient evil...
welfare dependency.
The problem began slowly, with the Gilnean males spending less and less time in the fields and howling at moon, and more and more time lazing about on the couches of the gothic, rundown city. Gradually, the women began to notice that the issues of unemployment and laziness were not, in fact, a direct result of getting "wifed up" by the local deadbeat - their mothers were not right after all - this was an epidemic.
As the empty flagons of mead rolled from the front doors of nearly every house on the block, with only the un-mowed grass of the front yard to hide them, the women of Gilneas staged a revolt. On the eve of the full moon, a fortnight before Arthas would fall within his citadel, these resounding words of rightful empowerment could be heard in every house in Gilneas:
"If thou dost not rise off thine ass and obtain gainful employment, I will henceforth cease to dwell under this roof, and thou canst conjure thine own damn dinner!"
The phrase, carefully crafted and emotionally executed in every sense, was met... with silence. A silence which was soon followed by a "Woman! Retrieveth me a sammich!"
And thus began the exodus of the females of Gilneas. Every grandmother, woman and girl could be seen that night, scaling the great wall in the light of the waning moon, suitcases in tow, never to return again.
So it has been since that day, and so it shall be after the great Cataclysm, that there will be no Worgen females found, neither within, nor without those looming walls.
Therefore beware, curious player, before you venture thine toon into the city, lest you find yourself unable to quest, to raid, to progress - gripped instead by an insatiable desire for potato chips and reality television.
You have been thusly warned.

Except there are already female worgen outside the walls, in both Pyrewood Village and Grizzly Hills. Their transformed model is the same as the men's.
I really, really hope the gendered transformed models are very similar. Can I please play a big, hulking, slavering werewolf and not a porn star in a fursuit.
Snuzzle May 5th 2010 6:45PM
One look at the silhouette is all you need to conclude that won't be the case, Slythwolf :(

I've got it! Blizzard is going to tell us what everything in the expansion is going do look like, except worgen females. After this year's Blizzcon, they will make female worgen finally appear in-game and be playable.
They have to keep at least one secret about the expac, after all.

Male Worgen:"Like my hair? This could be you. In Hair Club for Worgen we only use the finest materials to insure a luxurious, flowing mane that will enthrall the toughest critics.
Find your natural coat boring? Go wild with our wide variety of tints. I myself grew bored with my muted grey coat, went for a change and now look at my shiny suede leather top! It's amazing!
Hair Club for Worgens changed my life, it could change yours too!"

I saw a worgen drinkin' a pina colada at Trader Vic's
And his hair was perfect...

Not actual in-game stuff, but here is the artwork from a panel discussion.

Damn, she's a fox.
clundgren May 5th 2010 3:47PM
Didn't the goblin female already appear in Gremlins 2? She gets married to the doctor from Star Trek: Voyager.
Sithril May 5th 2010 3:47PM
The female goblin looks wickedly nice!
Cant belive Im posting this :D
Coffinshaker May 5th 2010 4:12PM
There IS a Worgen female image! She just looks surprisingly masculine...
kunukia May 5th 2010 4:27PM
I like the foxy look! Names all saved...
Kia May 5th 2010 5:08PM
This female worgen thing is seriously getting out of hand. What the hell is taking so long?!
Possum May 5th 2010 5:34PM
Judging from the silhouette they're still confused about the difference between cats and dogs.
Voltaire May 5th 2010 5:23PM
Anime over furries any day imo
