We first posted about RedEyeLobine's Frontline Preview back in March of 2009. Man, how time flies. We knew at the time this video would be pretty awesome, with some impressive graphics, a fun metal soundtrack, and lots of badass action. The great news is that RedEye's completed the movie and released the final version of Frontline.
This is a hell of a video and gets me pretty pumped to go dust off my warrior and kick some tail. RedEye hints that there's a storyline which he'll develop in a later movie. But even without the story, the general gist is pretty clear. Basically, there are these two warriors. And there's this tail that requires kicking. The warriors then set about kicking that tail. There's a brief moment where things seem dark, but then reinforcements appear, and the tail-kicking recommences. Also, metal plays in the back ground, which is fairly mandatory when a pair of warriors are busy doing their warrior thing.
All in all, Frontline felt like a warrior anthem to me, and was a great video.

I remember when this was first being worked on - glad to see it's done! Nicely put together, great action sequences...but seriously: get Michael Bay involved...needs more explosions...lots and lots of explosions. You can't have a metal soundtrack without wall-to-wall explosions. :-)
I turned the sound off about when the singing started - phone call. I listened to it again just now...yeah, it's sort of like grunge meets Stryper. Ick...not my cup of tea by any stretch, but it sort of fit the feel of the video, I guess.
Just an assumption, unfortunately. I hope they do another ganeral graphical update for Cataclysm. And "ultra" is the setting on your effects slidebar that says "max everything, gonna make my rig squeal!"
(that one's my 8th try to level a warrior and the first that's made it past 20)
Very nice machinima, I wanted to just glimpse at it for a second and watch it later but I just couldn't hit the pause button.
The added effects were very well done, although I got tired of the 'woooosh' lightning fast movement fast, that reminded me a lil bit too much of Anime. Don't get me wrong, I like - some - Anime but that belongs there, not in WoW movies, at least not to this amount. Lil bit here and there is fine. And yeah, I know it was probably supposed to be Charge... still....
That's the only 'problem' though, other than that it was great.
4 minutes of pure badass. Bonus points for recognizing everyone they slaughter.
...I really think my favorite part was probably the song though. I'll probably end up extracting that from the video... Is it something they did themselves, or something they used? I'd never heard it before, so I don't know.
It counts as Nu-Metal, like Linkin Park and bands like that. Not "Metal" in is purest form, but a branch of it. It was a fine song that fitted the video.
And the video itself is awesome. Maybe I didn't feel the urge to roll a warrior because I play Alliance, and Orcs are not my thing. But Orcs are definetly the staple of a Warrior, and it did the job pretty well.
In Cata though, I'm rolling a Worgen warrior. All that armor should look amazing on Worgen form.

I agree, but metal? Eh. I dunno. It loses it's metal cred when you use pop-punk vocalists. :(

Still needs explosions.

Mute the song and put Suicide Run from the ME2 soundtrack on

I lol'd at Nyhm and Gigi getting slaughtered at the beginning.

That's how I knew this thing had a chance at being really good. XD

Yes, that moment alone was worth watching!

kick ass

Great video, and it's very impressive how gorgeous he gets the models to look. Hopefully Cataclysm's "ultra" settings will look half as good as this.
Danielle May 5th 2010 12:56PM
Cataclysm is going to have "ultra" settings? What's being enhanced, other than the water?
I am genuinely curious.

I am gonna say it. Man, orcs are HOT! Especially geared in plate warrior orcs.
Great video, really makes the models look awesome.

That said... brb, rolling an orc warrior.

It's "Frontline" by Pillar. I'm guessing the video was named after the song.
Gendou May 5th 2010 12:55PM
I have a fully-heirloomed Orc Warrior sitting in Orgrimmar, waiting for Cataclysm...
... now I'm not sure I can wait. Very nice video, RedEyeLobine.
And Michael, I'm not sure that Pillar counts as metal.
'Frontline' is a great song, don't get me wrong - but metal it ain't.

Are we calling this sort of music "Metal" now? Huh.

Voted up for truth.
