Situational Awareness is the skillset I was referring to, it's right there in my post, but I guess there isn't an addon that reads comments for you and picks out the important details. It's not about where your icons are, There are addons that do not automate the game, Xperl for instance, that allow the player to filter what buffs show up. I'm fine with improving the look of the UI and the information it presents, but this takes it too far, in my opinion. Rather than simply "TellYou" this addon will "TellYouWhen," meaning that instead of paying attention to all aspects of the fight, you are simply waiting for a chime and a light to tell you when to push a button. If you like a game telling you how to play, then more power to you, I prefer to play a game with my own skills and experience taking the lead, not a stimulus->reaction experiment.

For what it's worth, TellMeWhen comes with no presets. It's up to the player to decide what they want the addon to tell them, and how. If it's a stimulus/reaction experiment, then the player is both subject and scientist.

Cat DPS rotation required so much debuff/buff notification that Blizz themselves acknowledged that the default interface was simply inadequate and that addons were required because the default debuff/buff placement and setup simply didn't tell the player enough. Skilled feral cat dps would know that they DO have to watch out for a ton of their debuffs/buffs, and that they DO have to use addons like this to perform at their peak. TellMeWhen tells me if Killing Machine has procced or Rime has procced. It's up to my decision to a) decide if I have enough Runic Power b) Wait for a KM proc instead of using up Rime straight away and c) it's far better than just staring at the small debuff icons on my target window.Right now, all you're nitpicking about is the size and placement of a debuff/buff icon. That's it. If you want to squint, that's your prerogative. Me, I like the ability to actually know what's happening around me without the need for tunnel vision (especially when I switch to Tanking).

Before I pick you apart for being such a self- important ignoramus, I'd like to point out that I have never run with more than 5 addons at any given time, one of which is Peggle. You don't have to preach to me about self-awareness.To put it bluntly, it is none of your god damn business what add ons people choose to download and implement. As was already stated, Feral cats have the JOHNEFFINMADDEN syndrome, and Blizzard has publicly stated that the flat Default UI is insufficient for them and other specs to get maximum output. Regardless of that, people can put any addon to work that they want, even if it just becomes an exercise in external stimuli reaction. As a rogue alt, I am FAR more incensed with the default UI than my shaman because of all the little boggling details you have to be aware of. I don't want hand holding, I want simplicity. That said, please, don't let me stop toyon your noble crusade. My suggestion, call a boycott on running with people that use DBM for example, see how many dungeon runs you end up in.Finally, I feel obliged to point out in all it's 'lolirony' your utter failure at replying. Looks like those 'awareness skills' are utmost, champ. Might I suggest an addon that helps you find the right button?

Yet they're still tiny, in a place that's inconvenient to look at, and I STILL have to target the tank to find out buff status, regardless of how they're filtered. More UI bullshit that I shouldn't have to deal with, distracting me from HEALING MY RAID. In today's twitchy raid environment, precious seconds with my eyes away from Grid and what's directly in front of my character can mean tank death. Next argument please.

"Press 5 when you see red, Mr. Peaches." Although a more accurate statement may be, "Press 5 when you see icon X above your head, Mr. Peaches.""Press 5 when you see icon X next to picture Y in your unit frames, Mr. Peaches." or "Press 5 when you don't see icon X next to picture Y in your unit frames, Mr. Peaches."So help me get this straight through my own head because I am really trying to find this line. What you are saying is that any monkey can do what I said in the first paragraph, but it takes a human to do what is in the second? You preach about situational awareness, yet in the first example, the icon is above my head so I can see my character and the icon clearly, but in the second, it is on the left side of my screen so that I have to take my eyes off of my character to look for it. And the first thing supposedly hurts my awareness while the second ... improves it? Makes me more human? Please, help. This addon is, in fact, about where icons are. If I am mistaken, please explain to me how it is not. You said, "I'm fine with improving the look of the UI and the information it presents" and that is ALL that this addon does. You gave X-perl as an example. X-perl will tell me if the tank has Earth Shield. It will even tell me WHEN he doesn't. It will even tell me WHEN it's about to expire, how many stacks, etc. I used to use X-perl for this very reason. Trust me, I know. I would just like some clarification on how there is a difference between using X-perl and using this particular addon for the same information. As an aside, on curiosity, what class is your main? Maybe that will help give me some insight too. My example was in defense of a restoration shaman, which I happen to have and use. It's the character on which I use Power Auras the most (and it's use is entirely in line with the use of TmW), which gave me a good base and insight on an example use.Now I agree that there is a line. I agree that any monkey can click a button that pops up on the screen. I even agree that any monkey can press 5 when they see an icon above their character's head. What I must respectfully disagree with is the assertion that there is a difference in a monkey's ability to differentiate an icon in the middle of the screen and an icon on the left side of the screen (or lack thereof). If there is more to this situation than that assertion, then apparently I fail to find where that aforementioned line is and do ask that you help me to find the line between a gamer and a monkey.

Let's use Slice n Dice as in the graphic for our example. This addon puts the Slice n Dice icon in an easier to see place for you the user, rather than on one of the action bars at the bottom of your screen. The addon does not activate it for you, it just shows you the same as what the icon on your action bar shows you.It extends the basic UI, it doesn't play the game for you. Blizzard might someday make it part of the interface, like how features of Outfitter became Equipment Manager.
