"Press 5 when you see red, Mr. Peaches." Although a more accurate statement may be, "Press 5 when you see icon X above your head, Mr. Peaches."
"Press 5 when you see icon X next to picture Y in your unit frames, Mr. Peaches." or "Press 5 when you don't see icon X next to picture Y in your unit frames, Mr. Peaches."
So help me get this straight through my own head because I am really trying to find this line. What you are saying is that any monkey can do what I said in the first paragraph, but it takes a human to do what is in the second?
You preach about situational awareness, yet in the first example, the icon is above my head so I can see my character and the icon clearly, but in the second, it is on the left side of my screen so that I have to take my eyes off of my character to look for it. And the first thing supposedly hurts my awareness while the second ... improves it? Makes me more human? Please, help.
This addon is, in fact, about where icons are. If I am mistaken, please explain to me how it is not. You said, "I'm fine with improving the look of the UI and the information it presents" and that is ALL that this addon does. You gave X-perl as an example. X-perl will tell me if the tank has Earth Shield. It will even tell me WHEN he doesn't. It will even tell me WHEN it's about to expire, how many stacks, etc. I used to use X-perl for this very reason. Trust me, I know. I would just like some clarification on how there is a difference between using X-perl and using this particular addon for the same information.
As an aside, on curiosity, what class is your main? Maybe that will help give me some insight too. My example was in defense of a restoration shaman, which I happen to have and use. It's the character on which I use Power Auras the most (and it's use is entirely in line with the use of TmW), which gave me a good base and insight on an example use.
Now I agree that there is a line. I agree that any monkey can click a button that pops up on the screen. I even agree that any monkey can press 5 when they see an icon above their character's head. What I must respectfully disagree with is the assertion that there is a difference in a monkey's ability to differentiate an icon in the middle of the screen and an icon on the left side of the screen (or lack thereof). If there is more to this situation than that assertion, then apparently I fail to find where that aforementioned line is and do ask that you help me to find the line between a gamer and a monkey.
