Looking at the subzones, it would seem that the underwater zone of Vashj'ir is pretty big and seems to have at least one (and most likely three) dungeons associated with it. The Battle for Gilneas seems confirmed to be a battleground (as there is info in this file for both The Battle for Gilneas and Gilneas City), so fortunately it will not rob worgens of a capital city. Other zones of note include Tol Barad, the new quest hub in Cataclysm which resembles Wintergrasp meets the Isle of Quel'danas, and Uldum, the long-awaited "Land of the Titans" at the southern end of Tanaris. It's also interesting to note that Grim Batol will finally open up.
Check out the full list of zones and subzones (including current zones in Azeroth) for yourself and see if you can find other places of note.
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm will destroy Azeroth as we know it. Nothing will be the same. In WoW.com's Guide to Cataclysm you can find out everything you need to know about WoW's third expansion. @all the stupid annoying doubtful haters (no offence, btw, not trying to be a troll) who said there would be no new capital cities:

You can type out a giant annoying paragraph of HAHA, but I still think the doubters are correct. Let me explain:
Both the goblins and Worgen starting zones are heavily phased. They start out with cities, and then by the end of the starting zones they're gone.
Goblins: I mean, the entire reason that they're on the Lost Isles is because the Cataclysm destroyed. They run away from their city and don't return
Worgen: During the starting zone they'll have their city... and then as part of that experience the Forsaken invade, and the city becomes a battleground.
So the zones you're seeing in this list are just the earlier phased portions of the starting zones.

Dire Straits, I lol'd. Anywhere an itrepid explorer could get their hands on a sandbox version of cata for EU client? :D
Poonicus May 6th 2010 4:40PM
Two that I saw that I thought were of interest were 1531 - Emerald Forest and 2714 - Seat of Life.
Kylenne May 6th 2010 7:08PM
The Seat of Life is from the Halls of Origination, that's where we'll be fighting Ammunae, construct of life. There's a sweet screenshot on MMO Champion.

IRONFORGE AIRFIELD!!!!!! Finally!! OMG wheee!!!!
Icediamond May 6th 2010 5:08PM
# The Frost Queen's Lair
# Putricide's Laboratory of Alchemical Horrors and Fun
These are both subzones in Icecrown Citadel (doesn't anybody on here raid?)
# Gillijim's Isle
# Island of Doctor Lapidis
These are two islands off the east coast of Stranglethorn (available in WoW alpha, then before before WoW was released.)
Just a couple of corrections for ya.

Actually, there's already a Goblin with the last name Gallywix in the game. He's Venture Co, and you kill him for a quest. So, I'm not too sure if Gallywix is Maldy's last name, the new leader's last name, or if the Venture Co. took over Azshara and the Bilgewater have to take it from them with phasing.
Hey, the Worgen have to fight someone in their starting zone, and the Gilnean-Forsaken (Lordaeron) fight is pretty interesting. What would be more interesting in Azshara than Goblin on Goblin battle? They already do economic battle, and none of the cartels like the Venture Co (allying with gnomes is eew). This would also help show the players the difference between cartels. Nothing shows priorities and allegiance quite like battle.

Was supposed to be a reply earlier in the thread. Reposted, so do with this as you will.

Good news, everybody!
I'm not dead!
Why is everyone pulling a Mal'Ganis these days?
Avan May 6th 2010 5:52PM
I think Battle for Gilneas could go two ways: A battleground, like suggested; What the phased starting area of Gilneas is called internally.
There also seems to be a second battleground, Twin Peaks. You can see screenshots of it on MMO Champion and it looks like a box canyon with no discernable way in or out that pits Horde versus Alliance.
Deathknighty May 7th 2010 2:32AM
Have you ever heard of these things called flying mounts? You know how we have zones designed around them? :)
Pantalones May 6th 2010 6:51PM
Ummm, "The Island Of Dr.Lapidis" does anyone watch Lost? Apparently Blizz employees do. I hope there's a smoke monster that flies around the island. A thousand gold says there's plane wreckage on the island.

..."The Battle for Gilneas seems confirmed to be a battleground (as there is info in this file for both The Battle for Gilneas and Gilneas City), so fortunately it will not rob worgens of a capital city"...
How about giving the Goblins the same treatment? Can we keep Kezan?
jishdefish May 6th 2010 7:55PM
Not Kezan, because Kezan is home to more than just the Bilgewater Cartel, so more than 3/4's of the city would be neutral, not Horde.
I see Kezan as just an early starting zone (levels 1-5). Not sure though.
However... Bilgewater Harbor in Azshara could be your Capitol. I could see Her Tallest in that building with the Giganto-mongous cannon on top.
Kylenne May 6th 2010 9:13PM
The key word here is "phasing", guys. At Blizzcon they said the new starting zones are going to use phasing extensively, like in Acherus. Please keep that in mind. I seriously don't understand why people keep thinking Gilneas is going to be a proper capital city, when everything Blizzard's told us so far has been to the absolute contrary. Barring some massive change down the pipe in the beta or something, neither Kezan nor Gilneas are going to be in the game as usable capitals past the starter levels. It's all phasing. The "Kezan" we're seeing is a tiny part of the island held by the smallest cartel (Undermine is the actual capital of the island, and it's underground), which is going to be evacuated because of the Cataclysm. Goblin PCs will be there probably all of 20 minutes, if that, depending on how long the phase of "pack up your stuff and get on the boats" lasts before they wash ashore on the Lost Isles. You could make an argument for the Bilgewater spot in Azshara, but that's not anything more than something tacked onto Orgrimmar's backyard. (Why build a complete capital city right next door to one? Makes no sense.) Blizzard's said a bunch of times now that Org's going to be the Goblins' city, and that Azshara's just going to be a low level goblin quest hub. The Autobahn they've got going just confirms that IMO. Think less Thunder Bluff and more Camp Whatever.
As for Gilneas, the same thing applies: phasing, phasing, and more phasing. We know the Forsaken are attacking it, and we know that Gilneas itself is going to be a Battleground. There has been absolutely nothing to suggest so far that Gilneas is going to be a capital city, why on earth would it be one if it's going to be a Battleground? The most likely probability based on the facts currently available points to freshly rolled Worgen starting in a heavily phased version of Gilneas, with the Forsaken stuff being introduced as the starting quests go on, and then the Worgen PCs hightailing it out into the wider world with no Gilneas to go back to unless they want to get some honor kills (other sections behind the wall might still be useable).
Obviously, it's still very early in development and anything could change. I'd personally love to see a part of Gilneas get reclaimed in a future patch, akin to the ruined part of Silvermoon vs. the capital part, or the Goblins build that harbor up into a proper city. But going by what we actually know right now, it's not very likely.
jishdefish May 6th 2010 7:40PM
Yep, there is a Gallywix in the Venture Trading Company, as the poster above me stated.
This Gallywix was killed in a rogue quest, so he's probably dead, but they're probably related. If so, does this make the new Gallywix Venture Co. too? I know Maldy is one who sold them into slavery, but maybe Gallywix was the buyer. If so... MIDA THERE IS HOPE FOR YOU YET!
