Daily Cataclysm screenshot
The latest Cataclysm screenshot from Blizzard is shown above, featuring a look at ... some fish, I guess. They're far more detailed than the schools of fish we see in-game today, which should make underwater adventures much more enjoyable visually. Also, I can't remember the name for those gross critters that look like rolled up tongues shoved into elongated ice cream cones. It's driving me insane. Ghostcrawler, Mr. Marine Biologist, help a guy out here!

Das reel purdy.
RogueJedi86 May 7th 2010 7:05PM
Those would be tube worms.
Brakkas May 7th 2010 7:08PM
ah, beat me to it
Alex Ziebart May 7th 2010 7:12PM
I blame the simplicity of that name for why I couldn't remember it.
brian May 7th 2010 7:52PM
They're worms... in tubes!
The simplicity is only surpassed by the sheer genius of it!
Brakkas May 7th 2010 7:07PM
It's a tube worm, I think...
If it is, all that time playing the old Magic School Bus games was worth it :D

Hell yeah! I had the Rainforest game, and turning into one of those lizards that can run across water was sweet. I think there was something about birds catching bugs too.

oh my god, I had that Magic School Bus game and I loved it. I originally wanted to be a marine biologist and that game entertained me for hours. But then I discovered that Earth Science was awesomer and here I am, in college as an Earth Science major.

Good news, everyone!
The boat stuck in Shimmering Flats is floating again!

Read, of course, in the voice of Prof. Hubert J. Farnsworth.

Oh, I forgot that Ghostcrawler's a marine biologist. Too bad he didn't mention to Metzen that a bunch of SALT water flooding into Desolace will not make it lush and beautiful, but worse off. Salt water doesn't make stuff grow, it kills plants and animals. Come on, guys. At least try with this stuff.
jonas May 7th 2010 7:17PM
Looking at desolace screen shots, it looks like the greening is more due to Cenarion influence than anything else. Looks like a bunch of the zone is still pretty barren, and the green spots all have "druidy" names (and critters) in them.
Howwie - Staghelm May 7th 2010 7:35PM
you also forgot to realize that plant adaptations may be different on Azeroth than on terrestrial earth there Mr Biologist, who knows, those plants in Desolace may be very similar genetically to the Salt water mangrove forests.
jbodar May 7th 2010 8:43PM
A wizard did it.
Ethan May 7th 2010 9:09PM
Who says all planets have saltwater oceans?
SpuneMan May 7th 2010 9:21PM
Agreed with the Cenarion influence. There are those dryads near the troll village in Desolace that are on a mission to restore life to the land. Currently, only area immediately around them has been affected. Looks like they may have completed their mission
wesleyshawn May 7th 2010 10:27PM
who the hell cares?
Fletcher May 7th 2010 10:30PM
Go to Inner Maraudon. Look at all the pretty plants. Kill the ugly giantess. Talk to Zaetar. Plants everywhere! Druids are to blame.

Daily Cataclysm screenshots have been sort of ruined by the recent huge influx of pictures on MMO. We've seen it now... I'm actually a little gutted!
