Female worgen models and animations datamined

WARNING: This post is stuffed full of spoilers. It is a spoiled piece of concentrated awesome wrapped in spoiled paper boxed and shipped to Spoilertopia courtesy of Spoiler Express. Don't click below if you don't want anything to do with unofficial information.
So far, this is what we've got in addition to the two YouTube videos above:
- The original thread on the MMO-Champion forums: This is huge, but it also includes a few speculative pictures from WoW Model Viewer with worgen models in different tier sets, and both the male and female hairstyles options.
- All of the available .gifs of new worgen (both male and female) animations collected in one place: You'll see warrior, rogue, hunter, casting, and several emote animations here (no /dance yet, though). Some of the animations (particularly for the males) are currently bugged with extra arms and floating bracers. Again, some are also placeholders from existing models, so don't freak if they look a little familiar. The new stuff, however, is so amazing it makes me sad for the races with less compelling animations already in the game.
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm will destroy Azeroth as we know it. Nothing will be the same. In WoW.com's Guide to Cataclysm you can find out everything you need to know about WoW's third expansion. From Goblins and Worgens to Mastery and Guild changes, it's all there for your cataclysmic enjoyment.Filed under: Cataclysm

That makes no sense.
"People complain about things, therefore things shouldn't be revealed"
People will complain later as well, does that mean things shouldn't be released ever?
"But it's an unfinished product!" You might say.
I say WoW is always an unfinished product, with constant tweaking and etc. and it is the nature of the internet to bitch. Take, for example, your bitching about datamining.
The comments section is a place for opinions and, not surprisingly, people who feel the need to share opinions tend toward the negative because people with positive opinions are content and don't need to comment.

Need the dance, maaan, I wanna see the dance!

I dream of the day that Blizzard's 3D artists learn how the hell a digitigrade leg is constructed, much less how it moves.
PalominoMule May 10th 2010 12:20PM
Aren't they *supposed* to keep their knees bent at a right or acute angle? I mean, why would they want to stand in an efficient and stable manner? That's just *silly*! :D

Why does she have hooves?
Nao May 11th 2010 1:40AM
I really hate this. Why does she walk like that? Why is she wiggling her hips around like that? Why does she have to try so hard to look "sexy"? Aren't these werewolves? I don't get it ... I mean, I want to play a monster, not a furry wet dream. I want to say that this is because, statistically, most female WoW characters are played by men (and the appearance of female character models is determined by what these men will find sexually attractive rather than what women like me want our characters to look like), but I don't want to generalize - I don't know if most other women prefer, as I do, that these characters look less sexy and more monstrous.
Anyway, it looks like Blizzard did a good job with what they were going for. It's really good work. It's just ... Really not what I wanted - although it is what I expected, I suppose. (I'm still wishing we could have the female troll models from Alpha.) Doesn't anyone else feel this way?

I have to agree that it's too sexy, particularly in its walk cycle. The hip-swaying is so overt it's painful. I'm not anti-furry by any means, but like you, I was kinda' hoping for a *monster*. And I, too, long for the alpha trolls. The sexual dimorphism between male and female trolls is laughable as we find it in the game now. I try to tell myself it's because of a long-time division of roles based on sex and gender in troll behavior, stressing strength and agility in the males (hence their coiled spring structure), and efficiency in the females (hence their more human structure). Still, that's kinda' stretching it. In an animal as complex as a troll, I can see different sexes having pretty significant differences in size, bone thickness and muscle build, but this is an enormous difference in skeletal structure. Plus, gender role division severe enough to cause that level of sexual dimorphism wouldn't be easily sustained in small hunter gatherer groups.
Admittedly, most women choose to play attractive characters, and that's fine. Most dudes probably would prefer to play thickly or athletically built guys rather than skinny things with no muscle or someone who's overweight. I think the problem is, we don't have a *choice*. Each race/sex combo has only one model, one set of animations, and only a few minor variations in texture. After fiddling with other character creation tools from other MMOs, it's just painful how anemic it is in WoW. Fiddling with the Star Trek Online character creator a few months ago, I was shocked to discover I could set different *stances* for my character, allowing me to use body language to reflect his or her personality.

I will never forgive the Alliance for taking my werewolves. Excuse me while I go weep into my Kashi.

Worgen should get a FAST SWIMMING skill (like the undead can last 233% longer under water).
Yanno, doggie paddle.
I'm HORDE as a rule, but the early releases of the worgen are dang tempting...

love it!

Actually....both shaman and shamans are correct. In the "regular"english you would say shamans that is because the last 3 letters don't come from the word "man" and because we took only the singular form from this noun from a foreign language but not the plural form so we had to turn it into a regular plural forms, adding the "s" at the end of the word. Provided that they don't have any connection, the plural can only be shaman is this case. But the plural of shaman can also be shaman , although it is only used in some parts of the english speaking regieons.

What's the point in posting a link if you're just gonna keep us out with a password??
Allison Robert May 19th 2010 2:36PM
Hi Darksektor,
The Photobucket album wasn't password-protected when it was first linked. It must be a pretty recent addition because I used the link a few days ago to see if any more animations had been added. I'm sorry the .gifs are no longer accessible, but with luck we'll see more information soon.

This is the Female Draenei Skeleton, IMO not exciting at all, just a few different animation with the majority unchanged. It is a bit disappoint but this is just the alpha, I'm sure Blizz will have time to polish it up. That is, if they intend to do so.

Doesn't look very ferocious. More like a doe than a wolf. :/
