I think you mean Anubis, not Sphinx. Or, you might mean ancient Egyptian in general, since Anubis is a male deity, but other depictions of Egyptian deities can include zoomorphic humanoid females.

Bast or Bastet is the Egyptian deity of cats, and a female. Anubis, the jackal-headed god of the dead, was male.
