Hunter's Log: Icecrown day 32
Location: Argent Tournament... detention facility
At least they let me keep my journal, for that small favor I give the ever watchful and ever nit-picky guardians of the Tournament a tip of the hat. There aren't many people down here in the belly of the arena doing time for breaking rules in naught but tabards and blankets and the bitter cold but apparently they have one of these down here anyway.
It all started with this jousting training thing. I'm old hat at a lot of things. Bombing runs, sure easy. Infiltration, I make a damn convincing arakkoa. Animal handling, the trolls of Zul'Drak sure appreciate my help. As for mounted combat? Haven't heard much from Mally-poo lately have you?
But this jousting thing... I don't know.
So here I was sitting on this pretty white pony with a horn... unicorn who am I kidding... and facing off with my first opponent in the jousting ring. One hand is steering the steed who doesn't like listening to my commands while the other is holding a pole one and a half times my height, a third of my weight and has a big damn shield on it. And I'm supposed to throw the thing. My chosen opponent is a Draenei on an Elekk... meaning he's up way higher than me and from his vantage point taunting the 'poor little elfy' and her apparent lack of skill.
So I did what comes natural to any hunter when the chips are down... went back to the basics. I threw that damnable stick at him, reached back and pulled my crossbow and shot the bugger clean off his mount.
You would think I woulda won...
So lesson learned... despite the apparent importance of the tournament and what it stands for. Despite being on the other side of the glacier fields from Arthas himself... I have to play by the rules. Which involves throwing big huge sticks at smarmy cavaliers and not shooting them. While mounted anyway. Should have seen the irate look in that Dwarf's eye when I jumped off that horse and shot him too.
And that's how I wound up here. This is going to be harder than I thought.

PS: invest in more fur lining its cold up here.
