@LandMineHare: I hope that was a reference to the original Jurassic Park!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE
I had alot of fun beta testing Wrath and SCII. Time to move on to cata imo :D
Special K May 13th 2010 5:53PM
Why do so many ppl think that because they got into Wrath, BC or SC2 Beta that they should get into Cata Beta?
Jason May 13th 2010 1:37PM
I can't wait to be goblin up a Beta Key.
AMS May 13th 2010 1:40PM
Seeing as how the FF Alpha could last to July, isn't this a bit early?

I'd be curious to hear what previous timelines have looked like on the Alpha>Beta>Release cycle. Anyone have this information handy?
V Magius May 13th 2010 2:14PM
They need a wide date range to be sure people hear about the opt in and have a chance to join.

So far, the estimate is at least six to eight weeks behind (depending, as ever, on Blizzard's meaning of "soon"). But the timelines for BC and WotLK should be helpful regardless.

Not really. They did this for Wrath too - they had the F&F alpha for 2-3 months, did an invite of people with beta keys from Blizzcon, then did waves of invites of people who'd opted in on their account page.
Heads-up though - the beta servers are CRASHY. Bug ridden. Slow. It's kind of fun to see the zones and stuff early, but if server restarts, bugs and lag bother you, skip the beta.
Ralod May 13th 2010 3:20PM
Actually they usually do the first few waves of opt in invites before the blizzcon beta invites. I was in the first round of wrath opt ins, and it was a few weeks before the blizzcon people got in.

If you opted-in to the StarCraft 2 beta, and left all the checkboxes alone, you don't have to do anything.
KrusherX May 13th 2010 1:53PM
Man I received a beta for SC2 but what I want is to get in Cata's beta, screw RTS!
I sat this often but...
GARÇON! A pair of new underwear please.
Eric May 13th 2010 2:14PM
I opted in to all the beta's the day they announced the beta opt in feature, and they skipped over me for SC2, even going so far as to give keys away to Facebook first. Heres hoping that I get in for Cata with out having to jump through hoops like that.
Drakkenfyre May 13th 2010 2:22PM
Opting-in is NOT the same thing as "Let me in, I am guaranteed to get in."
It means you are interested in getting in, and your system will probably run it. No people with Windows 98, running an Intel Pentium 2 with 128MB of RAM are getting in. It's always a random chance of getting in. "Opting-in" simply means you are expressing interest in getting in.

OMG! It's finally here!!

This reminds me - I need to update the system settings now I've upgraded to an i7.
Here's hopin'.

Now the question is will they screw us if we opt in with a Mac profile instead of a Windows one like they did with Starcraft 2...
