The Daily Blues

Not Blizzard related, but Portal is available for free over Steam for both the Mac and PC. This is a great distraction if you're looking for something other than WoW to play between raid times.

Ghostcrawler
Ghostcrawler -- Death Knight rotationThe point is not that we want a DK to hit a yellow attack then sit around waiting until they can do something fun again.
The point is that we have no room to add anything to the DK rotation. If we wanted to add "clearcasting" style procs or cooldowns finishing sooner or runes regenerating sooner, we can't really do that because the DK doesn't have room in a very tight rotation to use those abilities. If you try and use your GCD on anything else, then the whole rotation collapses because then your runes aren't coming back at the right time or your diseases are expiring or whatever.
Imagine 1-4 are rotational abilities like Icy Touch and Blood Strike and F = "fun thing".
DK rotation today: 1233331233334123333123333
DK rotation in Cataclysm: 123333-F-12-F-33334123333-F-

Ancilorn -- The Blizzard feedback toolIn the Public Test Realm builds for major content patches we have a tool for reporting player feedback in the form of bug reports, suggestions and player surveys.
You can find this new tool via the blue "B" button to the right of your mini-map, clicking on it will bring up the Feedback UI. You can also access the tool by typing "/bug" or "/suggest" in the chat bar.
Please use this tool whenever you encounter a bug in the game, this tool gathers character and location information that QA uses to identify and document issues. Even if you intend to post about an issue here in this forum (which is still being monitored) please also submit an in game report at the time the issue occurs.
Some tips when using the tool:
- Submit any issue you encounter immediately, not only will the details be fresh in your mind but the information the tool gathers will be most relevant.
- Write in English.
- There is a limited amount of space to describe your issue, refrain from including information not directly related to the issue.
- Make sure to accurately answer the initial questions this helps us classify issues and see trends.
- Be sure to submit bug reports and suggestions appropriately so they will reach the correct people.
Thank you :-)

Character and identifier
Friends list and Real ID friends
Achievements

These database wipes allow us to test release conditions as well as to help remove any old or incorrect data as we continue to patch the testing environment. We want to once again thank everyone for their patience and continued help and support in testing StarCraft II.

im really concerned on the point that they didnt pull anything from ptr forums seeing as ptr is dead almost by the fact that premades and shot lag is horrendous and quest are screwed to hell
Shane May 13th 2010 12:54AM
Poor Byran, he just wants to make friends.
Veloxe May 13th 2010 12:56AM
That's a horrible rotation GC! Needs more 3.
Shane May 13th 2010 1:11AM
I'm really excited about 1 and 2, but I'm unsure about 3.
Eternauta May 13th 2010 1:16AM
Not enough F in my opinion.
I'm always for fun things, and my DK didn't brought me too much fun so I deleted him before level 70.
Eberron May 13th 2010 2:16AM
@Eternauta
You don't really get much of an idea for any real rotations until you hit raid content. Leveling content is closest to PVP. Run in, spam your spammiest ability, loot, move on.
Look at feral DPS for an example. They're crazy complicated, but leveling it/s just Claw/Mangle until 5, Ferocious Bite, repeat. Throw in Savage Roar if you're gonna be killing more then one mob in the very near future.
Schwiiing May 13th 2010 3:24AM
I'd personally like to see more cowbell in that rotation.
DarkFinch May 13th 2010 7:42AM
'F' = 'More Cowbell'
ChaosBolt May 13th 2010 10:46AM
I'm assuming he's lumping "DKs" to mean "Unholy DKs"? (since that's where most of them are now...because Blizzard made it the strongest spec for practically the entire expansion).
Anyone who's played Frost DPS knows that, with all the procs you have to watch out for, your rotation is not the 1246335355124335 etc of UH DKs (IT,PS,BS,Pest,SS,DC...6 abilities lol)
Eternauta May 13th 2010 11:10AM
@Eberron:
Good points.

Another StarCraft 2 wipe.
The irritating thing about that is for both 1v1 and 2v2 you have to do your placement matches again.
1v1? 5 matches.
2v2? 5 matches.
Every friend you played with in 2v2? 5 matches.
That, and going back to the same default avatars, that you got sick of a week after they came out with. And all your Achievements reset, which is one way you get avatars. I feel sorry for the guys who got the "50 wins" avatars, or the "25 wins with each race, and 25 wins as random" avatar.
Ashzora May 13th 2010 6:09AM
How is it exactly that you feel sorry for people? You do grasp the idea we are beta TESTING SC2, not beta "play and have fun for free", right?
Remember kids, you are not there to get a free game. You are there to make sure the game you BUY is all that much better.
Drakkenfyre May 13th 2010 6:34AM
Hey, I am the one on the forums bitching at people who come in and complain about not having a demo. The ones who don't realize this is a beta test. The ones who expect the game to be finished.
The only thing I am complaining about is the placement matches.
5 for each game, and 5 for each friend you play with.
With it being reset once every week or two, and then once twice in one week, it's not fun (fun, yes, I know, it's a beta test) when you have been playing for a couple months.
The ones I feel sorry for are the ones who have done the 25-25-25-25 wins, and have proudly come on the forums to show off their avatar. I feel sorry for them because they get wiped, and all of that is erased. Do I feel sorry they lost it? It's more of a sorry that they will lose it, and may or may not know that.
Yes, it's a beta test, and we tell them "That's great, but the bad thing is you are going to get wiped."
The placement matches used to be 10, but was bumped down to 5 when they did the first reset. I don't care if they reset the stats, I don't care if they reset the achievements, it's just that going thru the 5 placement matches for each bracket, again, after multiple wipes is "Man, placement matches, again?"
The wipes are important, especially when there is data corruption, like when people log in and their profile displays someone else's name, and your wins/losses go on their record, or the people who are sitting at "undefined" as their rank, like I am for 1v1. And at this point some Platinum players are intentionally throwing their placement matches so they end up in Copper to stomp on easier people. So that part of the testing is becoming screwed up.
For the people reading this, and not knowing what a placement match is, it works like this. There are currently 5 leagues in StarCraft 2. Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. To see which one you fit into, you have to play 5 matches for each game type (1v1, 2v2, ect. and for every friend you play 2v2 with) and it places you against people in different leagues. So if you are a Copper league player, you will be matched against Platinum at least once. Until you do these matches, you won't be ranked, or gain points. You also won't be matched up to people close in your skill level (or at least, as close as the beta allows right now.)

I am really interested to see what the DK rotation looks like when they are all finished. The total lack of changing it up that GC talks about above is something that has annoyed me from the beginning.

Yes, come on here, spam some generic comment, then spam your product's name. You expect someone is just going to google it?
"Oh, I'm going to be slick, if I don't link it, they won't realize it's spam!"
You know, it's sad that some company has to spam their crap on every website they see, even if they know it's a site that has nothing to do with their product. But the sad thing is, people still fall for it.
