New details about Twin Peaks battleground, Dragonmaws backed by the Horde?

If you're a big ol' lore nerd like me, recent details released on the forums about the upcoming Twin Peaks battleground in the Twilight Highlands probably at least got a "Say what?" out of you.
Grim Batol was founded by the Wildhammers. The Wildhammers abandoned their new home after the war with the Dark Irons left the place tainted. The Dragonmaw clan later moved in and attempted to harvest the eggs of Alextrasza for sinister purposes, though they failed to fully satisfy Deathwing. With the four Dragon Aspects confronting both Deathwing and the Dragonmaws, Grim Batol was abandoned. Members of the Red Dragonflight stayed behind to guard its corridors in the Twilight Highlands. ...
That I can't say, but there will be a Twilight Highlands Battleground called Twin Peaks. The Alliance will be working with the Wildhammers in a struggle for land against the Dragonmaws backed by the Horde.

The reason this goes into "Did you just say what I think you just said?" territory is apparent to anyone who did the Netherwing dailies in BC or read the novel Day of the Dragon (or our KYL feature on the Red Dragonflight). The Dragonmaw Clan are bad news. As Golluck Rockfist, the Horde Ambassador to the Wyrmrest Accord, so clearly put it, "In years past, the warlock Nekros Skullcrusher abused a powerful artifact to enslave Alexstrasza and much of the red dragonflight. Zuluhed and Nekros are dead, but the debt we owe to the reds is far from repaid."
Zuluhed and Nekros? Dragonmaw. The orcs hanging around in the Wetlands attacking people randomly? Dragonmaw. The toothy fellow above? An adventurer disguised as one of the Dragonmaw in the service of Illidan Stormrage himself. The same Dragonmaw clan that made a deal with Deathwing's consort thinking it was Deathwing himself they were working for, mind you. The news that the Dragonmaw are now pledging their allegiance to Garrosh's Horde is very, very interesting, to say the least.

If there isn't AT LEAST an NPC named Cooper, I will be wildly disappointed in Blizzard.
If every single character in the battleground is a reference to Twin Peaks and a picture of David Lynch's head replaces the sun in the skybox I'll be impressed.

It better have a backwards-talking Dwarf in it.
Sturmovic May 15th 2010 3:30AM
At this rate the Horde'll be going into battle with a WWWAAAAAAAGGGHHH warcry.

I think this is going the way of Garrosh will tear apart the Horde forcing Thrall to return and take action. I think we will see the Spirt of Grom play a big part in it to like King Menthil did in Wrath.
Maybe Garrosh will march on the Emerald Dream, Thrall and Spirit of Grom will stop him but it will be to late causing some problem in the Emerald Dream. So leading to the next expansion.

Don't be so quick on jumping at Garrosh. I have personally hated Garrosh throughout the WotLK content-cycle but there are quest chains in the Cataclysm alpha that will make you change your perception of him.
As to why the Dragonmaw are backed by the Horde, think about it; the Dragonmaw failed Deathwing at both Grim Batol and Outland (although Outland was only by proxy since they were dealing with Sinestra there). Now Deathwing isn't exactly the forgiving type so it could be that the Dragonmaw are trying to regain their honour. It will also allow them to make up with the Red Dragonflight (although it'd probably take multiple generations to do so).

Someone should be muttering "She's De-ead . . . Wra-apped . . . in plastic"

This is gonna be awesome, I hope I see backwards talking dwarfs.

Sense. This makes none!
devilsei May 14th 2010 5:12PM
Course it makes sense, since Garrosh is leading the "Horde" now, he's gonna join up with any "real" orc he can find, and nothing screams "Ork! Ork!" like a bunch of red-skins bending dragons over to ride them.
Al May 14th 2010 5:22PM
If he makes it through Cataclysm alive, I expect he'll recruit the Blackrocks as well.

You should probably consider that the Dragonmaw in Azeroth probably haven't had any contact with the Dragonmaw in Outland for a long time. Also consider that the Outland Dragonmaw had been given the blood of Magtheridon, turning them into Fel Orcs, while the Azeroth Dragonmaw haven't had any contact with demon blood in a while.
Moonkinmaniac May 14th 2010 6:28PM
Maybe its an excuse to let us make orcs with red skin.
RogueJedi86 May 14th 2010 6:32PM
I have an easier way to make it make sense. "With the death of leaders Nekros and Zuluhed, the Dragonmaws were crippled at the top. Combined with the rise of the Red Dragonflight back into prominence, the Dragonmaw clan has decided to cut their losses and rejoin the Horde."
Simple and no plot holes whatsoever.
brian May 14th 2010 6:59PM
Or what about the fact that the Dragonmaw are without question the best at fighting and subduing dragons. Garrosh finds some, and gives them some options: rejoin the Horde to regain your honor, or we kill you. Simple enough. I'm sure you can guess which option they chose.
Besides, what would be a better way to make the Dragonmaw atone for their actions than to make them fight against their former ally and employer while simultaneously helping their former victims? Glorious.

Bluh?

I think this is some sort of redemption story for the Splintered portion of the dragonmaws in the wetlands. Not the corrupted dragonmaws of Shadowmoon.
Grovinofdarkhour May 14th 2010 5:11PM
Garrosh will apparently team up with ANYONE who wants to kill Alliance.
