Around Azeroth: Child's play
Oh, how the mighty have fallen. After Iover of <Legion of Chaos> on Eonar-H killed the Lich King, she decided to add to the humiliation by decorating the broken Frostmourne with a campfire and a child's train set. Well, I guess it's better than ending up in the garage.
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as emailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use Alt Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, Val'kyr on mounts or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran. Older screenshots can be found here.

Abasik Campfire is clearly the next Lich King! Why did you fools have to go and vote for him?!
Tokkar May 14th 2010 9:18PM
Nah, he's just in TRAIN-ing.

Bolvar: "I'm struggling to keep Nerzhul's conscience from dominating mine. Sitting in this ice cube and telling nobody to come here should help." *freeze*
*one week later*
Ljenkins the Patient: "GUYZ I gots new train set ZOMG"
*infernal chugging noises from an entire raid group*
Bolvar: "WHAT IS THIS DISTURBANCE? Suffer, mortals, as your pathetic train set betraaaaaays you!
*Wind-Up Train Wrecker*
Bolvar: "I will show you the justice of the grave... and the true meaning of fear.... again!"

Y'know, this image sort of sums up the appeal of the game for so many...

*coughs from smoke*
The Train Set, representing Blizzard's ability to poke fun at themselves, and the inclusion of popular culture references to enliven what could easily become A Very Serious Game.
Abasik Campfire, presenting the community's heartfelt involvement with the game's lore and their love for the game.
The broken Frostmourne, representing meeting of the two halves of the WoW equation: the official lore of the game, and the struggle by players to overcome the game's challenges.

Wow! my pic got chosen! cool! but I am an alliance, not horde, as the armory shows :) thanks for all the awesome compliments and funny comments, lol

I wonder, lore-wise, what's going to happen to the Frostmourne. It's broken, but I doubt its powers are gone. Look at Quel'dalar.
Iirdan May 15th 2010 4:58PM
The difference here I think is that Frostmourne's immense power was somewhat if not entirely tied to the souls bound within it. Breaking it released them, so I would assume that it is certainly weakened if not useless now.
