Cataclysm screenshot of the day
The latest Cataclysm screenshot from Blizzard is shown above, featuring a look at a part of the Gilnean wilderness. The elven architecture embedded into the tree is very cool. I don't know why, but I always find that sort of growth fascinating. Give trees enough time and they'll move any of our junk out of their way.

Do i see a night elf arch embedded in there? I smell the origin of Worgen druids.

you may see an elven arch, but I just saw the flat-footed arch of a spammer, and one with cajones, considering he also used the first comment of the post to defile us all...

DON'T DESTROY HOMETREE :(

It's actually inside that tree from Blasted Lands, you've had a north facing angle and a west facing angle now you have INSIDE TREE ANGLE!!!

-all your home tree are belong to us-
Sorry, not enough sleeps. Would be nice if all of the Blasted Lands transformed into the dark swamp(though we know it isn't), the pic reminds me of Nektulos forest from EQ2.

I once saw a tree with a motorcycle in it.
Duulket May 17th 2010 10:01PM
Maybe it just wanted to go for a ride.
Suzaku May 17th 2010 9:19PM
Isn't this the Blasted Lands, not Gilneas? I'm pretty sure this is like the third screenshot they've posted of the Tainted Forest with that tree lurking in the background.
RogueJedi86 May 17th 2010 9:41PM
It's 4 shots of the Tainted Forest, and not this one is not of that area. Today's screenshot is too dark to be the Tainted Forest, plus the night elf ruins in the tree. I think pictures from the alpha leak are why people think this is of Gilneas. Looks like a Cataclysmed pit in the southern parts of the zone.
Sietchtabr May 17th 2010 10:56PM
It is the worgen starting area, I believe its called the blackwald or something along those lines. It was something not a lot of people talked about before the leaks where shut down. You can tell that it is not the tainted scar since that tree is up on a hill, not in a valley.

Creepy Forest.
Eddy_D May 18th 2010 10:17AM
Yes, very Zul Drakish..
Logaz May 17th 2010 9:28PM
Is there going to be a difference between the Southern Blasted Lands, and Gilneas? I actually think that this is them just showing off the Southern Blasted Lands again, because they haven't done much else that they are willing to spill the beans about.
Sargenus May 17th 2010 9:37PM
I never recalled Night Elves being anywhere near the Eastern Kingdoms before the Black morass turned into the Blasted Lands. And looking today, I see no Night ELven ruins in the Tainted Scar.
Gemini May 17th 2010 9:39PM
I never saw Worgen anywhere near the southern Blasted Lands either, and yet there they are.
Logaz May 17th 2010 9:46PM
I'm almost positive that I read somewhere that a population of Worgen were taking up residence in the area south of the dark portal.. Not entirely certain where though.
Corrian May 17th 2010 10:03PM
It could be a previously hidden part of the tainted scar. And the existence of that strange kaldorei structure could explain why worgens moved in.
Tethra May 18th 2010 3:18AM
It's not Blasted Lands. Blizzard confirmed that it's Gilneas.
Codexx May 17th 2010 10:05PM
This is a tree that is just a little northwest of a small Gilnean village located at the beach in southwest Blasted Lands. The swamp takes up the gray area on the map now. The tree has been posted several times. They probably are posting it so much because the rest of blasted lands isn't so radically changes, aside from the beach east of the Gilnean village. It's probably, to them, one of the more interesting changes we haven't seen before. The village itself needs work, so they won't show that. Newer zones like Twilight Highlands are unfinished, and they probably can't show off Loch Modan with an unfinished zone right behind it.
Narak May 18th 2010 12:45AM
Definitely not the same tree. But I do agree that it's probably in that same sub-zone. Or maybe a phased version of the tree?
