The Queue: High above the mucky-muck
Welcome back to The Queue, WoW.com's daily Q&A column where the WoW.com team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky will be your host today.
I feel like some music today, particularly The D. And remember, Tenacious D discovered Northrend first. The video is moderately NSFW, but nowhere near as awesomely NSFW as some D.
Before anyone mentions it, The D are truly immortalized in WoW with the Tenacious Defender.
Nonentity asked ...
"Why do people care so much about this damn dance studio? I'd much rather they continue working on Cataclysm or a thousand other things rather than this. Honestly, how important is that thing? Once/If/When it goes live, people will play around a bit with it, everybody will be dancing different dances everyday for two weeks, then everyone will find their favorite one and use it about as much as now, which is maybe once a day. I wish people would quit asking about it, jeez..."
People want the feature because it interests them. Obviously it doesn't appeal to everyone, but that's okay. WoW is a big game for people with lots of different interests.
As far as folks constantly asking about it, it stems from two things. First, Blizzard originally said it was going to be coming out -- but then took it off the table. This created confusion, and is an example of why they don't say things are coming up until they're damn sure of it. Now some of this confusion rests with the community, and some of it in the way Blizzard communicated a list of potential expansion features.
The second reason people ask about it a lot is that Blizzard is now not communicating about it effectively enough. A sticky at a top of one of the official forums would take away a lot of questions.
And I think the designers would agree with you, too -- they're obviously working on more important things for Cataclysm rather than the dance studio that's been talked about for years.
Grovinofdarkhour asked ...
"Is there any chance that in Cataclysm, leatherworking won't suck?"
Yes, Blizzard has said professions are getting a lot of changes, and the end-game recipies will continue to be made more useful. The exact details are not known yet, but we should have a more solid understanding of professions in a few months.
Shauna asked ...
"Is there, or will there be some way of transferring characters from area/location to another area/location (ie: US to EU)?"
No.
Andrew asked ...
"Where does Mr. Belt's deep hatred of warlocks come from?"
Arthas.

Marginally related: R.I.P. Dio
Josin May 18th 2010 1:23PM
I spent all day yesterday wondering, "Am I the only one who doesn't give two shits about Dio dying?"
Apparently, yes.

WHAT!? Dio died!? omg...
I have to go sit in my dark place now.
imsobuzzed May 18th 2010 1:58PM
Josin must be a mage. A Warlock would never say such a thing.

Who, or what, is Dio?
-googles and wikipedias it for answer-
Oh.
Erzfiend May 18th 2010 5:33PM
WHAT?
"For every moment of truth, there's confusion in life"
Rest in peace, Dio.

Christian Belt's parents were killed by a warlock. now he is on a crusade to end their menace once and for all.
he's pretty much the Batman of mages.
(cutaia) May 18th 2010 1:11PM
Afterwards the warlock kept asking, "Have you ever /danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?"
jishdefish May 18th 2010 1:20PM
"Why so serious?"
Vogie May 18th 2010 1:35PM
More like the Robin of Mages.
Mages that wear short shorts
Thanatos May 18th 2010 1:47PM
His parents weren't killed by warlocks, but they were greatly agitated by them. Warlocks don't have the power to kill a mage, only irritate them.
Eyhk May 18th 2010 2:37PM
So Warlocks "fear" Mages.
Wait, that doesn't sound right.
Mages are "feared" by Warlocks.
What?
Damn it.
WTB Spell Name change "Fear" -> "Scare" or "Frighten" or "Boo!"

Belt saw his mom killed in front of his eyes by the blonde warlock...
In shock, he turned and silently looked at her
With steely eyes, she met the poor future mage's gaze and said,
"It was not my intention to do that in front of you. For that I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it coming.
When you grow up, if you still feel raw about it, I'll be waiting."
And with that apology, statement and invitation, she walked out the kitchen side door...

What, no evil cackling?
I vote there should be an official, unofficial story on the animosity between mages and 'locks....and why mages are so jealous of 'locks
Anathemys May 18th 2010 7:50PM
Truth of the matter is, mages hate 'locks 'cause of ONE thing...
Succubi. (Or Felguard for the gals)
Neither can really get a date legitimately with their spindly, non-muscular bodies, but at least 'locks can summon one. The best mages can do is sheep a girl and talk her up before her trinket gets of CD.
True Story: Mages once were planned to have a spell called "Sleep".
