At this point, you must be familiar with the name Erunno. Not only is Erunno a popular blogger over at the Myndflame site, he's also a successful machinimator. He's been called the Uwe Boll of machinima with a tongue firmly planted in cheek, but I swear I had nothing to do with that. If you don't recall, though, Erunno was the machinimator behind the award-winning A Dead Bug's Life.
This is part 1of Wardens of Azeroth, the prequel piece to his amazing TheWhite Drake. Wardens breaks machinima standards by presenting a silent movie, encouraging the audience to frame and interpret the action on their own. In my opinion, Erunno's technique is actually creating a more interactive experience for the viewer. The viewer is forced to not only observe the action, but also to think about the story taking place.
While we'll be featuring the second part of Wardens of Azeroth tomorrow, I'm especially curious to see what you folks think of just this first part. What is the story saying to you? How do you feel about the characters?
Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an e-mail at machinima AT wow DOT com.
From what I can see (i watched both parts, but will comment on Part 1).
There is this rare Albino Drake who is about to be born into this world. He is of some importance because Alexstraza and the leaders of the other dragonflights are there to watch it be born. Its a story about this Drake entering the world, young, naive, and curious as to what the world has to offer. For a couple of years the Drake is mentored by each dragonflight and tought there ways and their purpose in the world of Azeroth.
What is truly unique about this Drake is that he isnt born into the Blue/Red/Green/Bronze/Black dragonflights, so he is truly unique, yet sadly alone in the world as he is the only one of his kind. He learns and observes and begins his journey on Azeroth being "caught up" on the current state and events.
But what is his true purpose? What will be his mark on Azeroth?
Amazing movie....cant wait for part 2 =) To me, it's saying that there is something bigger and more important happening behind the scenes of all the changes Azeroth is going through....a "master plan" that is being tended to above all costs (so far...hehe)
"He's been called the Uwe Boll of machinima with a tongue firmly planted in cheek" - I called myself that since I released my first machinima... Don't know where others got it, but I guess it must be true then. :P
Yeah, and I'm gonna bet up every reviewer who dares to flame me! I challenge you to a 2v2 arena match! ;)
It actually touched my heart (no homo) just by looking at this first part made me think how interesting is going to be part 2. Nice machinima to be precise,no wonder he won the prize.
I thought the story was going to progress into him becoming an adult and joining one of the flights. When the story turned to the black flight, i thought the leaders would turn him into Halion, the Twilight Destroyer, but in the end he resisted. I love the little twist at the end.

Is it really good to be the Uwe Boll of anything?

For those asking, part 2 IS out. I already watched it on youtube. I really like these movies, and part 2 is even better.

Well done. And actually better than any stuff that Uwe Boll has directed.
