Female worgen preview
Have you, like our own Mikhail Saccovich, been dying to see what the new female worgen models are going to look like? Die no more! The Escapist has you covered, my friends, in detail. Copious screenshots of the new lady worgen models in cloth, leather, mail and plate gear to give you a general idea of what they'll look like when you roll one. The article emphasizes that these are works in progress, but I dig them. I really like how sinuous they are. My worgen rogue just might be a lady after all.

World of Disney?

I'm not sure what to think of this comment.
The Warcraft Universe has always (long before WoW) had a cartoon style, with a fair dose of silliness.
Even the "harshest" of WoWs races reflects this. The Worgen models seems to fit right in to me.

Disneywolfs lol

When comparing the above shot to the short animation of a female worgen walking by the river that was posted a few days back, I must say that I like them better without hair.
Can't wait to start my own worgen though. I even have a name saved. :-)

The wolfboobs look ridiculous. I never thought I'd be using female taurens as a favourable comparison (lol jk
Baneraven May 19th 2010 3:42PM
Wolfboobage FTW.

I don't know about you guys (and gals), but that looks more like a cat to me, rather than a dog or let alone wolf.
Now, that's not a bad thing.. not at all. I iz be lovin` catz, ok?! But I think werewolves are meant to be more dog/wolf like, is it not?
Tori May 19th 2010 2:02PM
Mm hmm, I get all sorts of impressions ranging from deer/cat/fox. Hardly any wolf. xD
PalominoMule May 19th 2010 2:23PM
Yeah...the stop is entirely too pronounced, the muzzle is too short, the nose is entirely too small and the ruff is painfully absent. Wild canids have ruffs, dammit - be they foxes, wolves, jackals, dholes or whatever.
Ata May 19th 2010 3:02PM
@PalaminoMule
There are a lot of rather sleek, fine boned canids. Greyhounds for example, or even something as large as a deerhound have a finer face that's more sleek and narrow, even a more 'aggressive' or 'traditionally wolflike' dog like a German Shepard can have a finer muzzle. Neighbors of mine had shepard/wolf mixes, and the female dog was a lot more sleek furred and finer boned than her mate and sons turned out to be, unfortunately I can't link an image for you. Most of the published pictures of wolves are of them in full winter fur coats, often times in the 'off' seasons it's rather difficult to tell a wolf apart from a coyote, as when they have the shorter fur they're fairly similar appearing.
Also, we're not looking at a wolf head on a human body, we're looking at a creature that is a mix of human and wolf, so it doesn't really need the 'scruff' (which isn't as pronounced all the time as you imply) or longer ears or longer muzzle....it's a blend of the two, and I personally think that in Blizzard's style, they've nailed it. If you prefer your werewolves to be more upright walking wolf, then something from Champions or City of Heroes might float your boat a bit better.
PalominoMule May 19th 2010 3:57PM
@Ata:
I can make allowances for the sleek look, I suppose. True, wolves do have pretty sparse coats during the summer, revealing the right skinny beasts they are beneath; and some wild canids do have pretty short and even coats, like the arabian wolf and the african wild dog. The problem is that this is combined with so many traits that don't fit the standard appearance of a wild canid, and particularly one from a Gilnean climate.
The ears are silly, narrow, pointy things devoid of fur. The eyes are angled wrong compared to the standard canid skull. The muzzle is short and tall, the bridge of the muzzle has the wrong shape, the nose isn't a canid's at all, the jawline is swollen, and all suggestion of fur around the ears and neck are gone. There's too many things pulling it away from a standard wild canid. If you're cool with that, that's fine, but I was under the impression that worgen are supposed to evoke *werewolves*. I've got no idea what that thing up there is evoking, except maybe a weredesigner-dog.

PalominoMule: These things are magical creations, not products of evolution. They don't need to follow any sort of ideal.
jmjm May 19th 2010 1:42PM
Wow. My comment got cut off.
I really do think female taurens were handled better than the female worgens.
These are too high and too round, like bad implants.

What a Dog!
vaarsej May 19th 2010 2:17PM
where are the tails? I'd like soft, luscious sexy tails that I'd rub all over my -
oops, sorry.
shotiechan May 19th 2010 2:30PM
Worgen do not, and have never, had tails.
Baneraven May 19th 2010 3:41PM
Well, pre-Cata they were also skinnable. Are they going to be classed as humanoids now?
Natsumi May 19th 2010 4:20PM
Yeti are classed as humanoids and you can skin them.
Shrike May 19th 2010 4:21PM
Worgen are already classified as humanoids, despite being skinnable.
