Phat Loot Phriday: Sleeveless T-Shirt

Name Sleeveless T-Shirt
Type Shirt
Attributes
- has no sleeves (obviously)
- has flavor text
- has the distinction of being the only shirt in the game to be stealthily upgraded from poor (gray) quality to common (white). That's right, even the developers thought the shirt was so badass they decided to change the item quality in Patch 3.3.3!
How To Get It: One of the coolest things about the Sleeveless T-Shirt is that it only drops off Alliance players in Alterac Valley, which means you have to PvP in order to get it. Or, you know, hop into the battleground and loot dead bodies while avoiding any actual combat (nobody has to know). You can also fake your awesomeness in battle by buying it through the auction house, although it boggles the mind as to why anyone would sell such a fantabulous shirt. Alliance players can luck out on the shirt through neutral auction houses, but it seems strange that they would need to do so considering the shirt is standard issue among the rank and file. I mean, they do drop it, after all.
How To Get Rid Of It: Why anyone would want to part with a shirt inspected by Earl Z. Moade himself is anybody's guess, but the most desperate (not to mention tasteless) individuals can sell it to a vendor for 3 silver and 61 copper. More enterprising types can obviously course it through the aforementioned auction houses. The honorable way to dispose of it would be to destroy it while in battle, maybe as you fall to an overwhelming enemy force. It's an RP thing.

For alliance rogues, nothing but an imported [Thug Shirt] will do.

"has the distinction of being the only shirt in the game to be stealthily upgraded from poor (gray) quality to common (white). That's right, even the developers thought the shirt was so badass they decided to change the item quality in Patch 3.3.3!"
But the wowhead tooltip in this article shows it's still gray quality. So what's this talk of its quality moving up to white?

Check the Undocumented changes list at WoWWiki. it lists this change. Not everything on WoWHead is updated immediately. Something like this would be low prioriety. I have seen things listed unchanged on WoWHead for a couple of weeks after (low-end things.)

Wowhead database isn't reflecting the change. As a certified Earl Z. Moade-inspected shirt owner, I can most assuredly vouch for its Common rarity or white-ness. MMO Champion's database reflects the proper item color.

I happen to be wearing one on my mage, and can verify that it is now a white item. And yes, it looks great!

Someone will complain "This isn't Epic! What's this piece of crap doing on an article about phat loot? Who cares about a piece of crap white! This article is stupid!"
And that person will be a moron.

This reminds me of that one time (last week) I ninja'd precious' ribbon on my guild 10 man. I had no idea what it was I just walked up and looted it. It went kinda like this:
"Oh look a green" (we don't ml greens if there's no enchanter with us)
boxes pops up warning me that it will bind on pick up
"thats weird"
click
Guild - Uh wait why did he get it did he roll?
me - what?
I hate this stupid pink shirt, it is my mark of shame.

The same thing happened to me, but that's the way it goes. Whoevers turn it is to loot Precious gets the shirt if it drops. People complain, QQ, scream and cry even moar... but in the end it's not your fault. Blizzard should have made it epic to ensure the ML got control of it. Nothing you can do, and certainly not your fault.
tatsumasa May 21st 2010 5:52PM
same. got mine on my moonkin in the first couple of weeks, before people knew about it. there was jealousy, but no asking for a roll for it. so now she was the best moonkin in the show - but to be fair, she was the only moonkin in the show...
RogueJedi86 May 21st 2010 6:00PM
But aren't all BOPs tradable for like an hour after you loot it, just to ensure no problems with accidental looting?
Arashikou May 21st 2010 6:20PM
@RogueJedi
Strangely, that never seems to stop anyone I've run with from complaining anyway.
cidninja May 21st 2010 6:29PM
@RogueJedi86
actually, it doesn't seem to be the case for the precious shirt. i picked it up, greens weren't masterloot, and then we tried to roll for it afterward but it wouldn't let me trade. guess that rule only counts for blues and up!
so now i'm an orc warrior with a pink shirt. :(
Ostentaneous May 21st 2010 6:44PM
It's not tradeable (sp? chrome dictionary wants to say trade-able, I dunno) because its green. That's what I figured and didn't think twice about clicking the confirm for the BoP warning, but alas that only applies to blues or higher.
Another note; Adam replied to me, that's kinda cool. You guys should have your text be blue or something like the wow forums.

You use Master Looter?
I'm sorry, i know every guild has their own way of doing things, I jsut can't but find that amusing.
Enjoy your shirt.
Gormaggus May 21st 2010 11:54PM
The simple solution: Turn the ML threshold to uncommon just before pulling Precious :P
