One time, back in 2005, I fell asleep before a Majordomo Executus pull in the Molten Core. I conked right out seconds after the pull. This probably wouldn't have been a huge deal if I wasn't a main healer. This incident was probably the most embarrassing thing I've ever done in
WoW, and I still am reminded of this fact every once in a while. Well ... maybe not the most embarrassing, but definitely up there. Like that one time I was tanking Malygos and my sword broke, leaving me to hold aggro with a shield,
Consecration and
Hand of Salvation. I didn't hear the end of that one for awhile. Or that time my mouse auto run got stuck and I ran right into Vaelastrasz, wiping the raid. Or that other time when I forgot to equip my
Phaseshift Bulwark ... you can imagine the result.
I guess what I am trying to get at is that I've had my fair share of screw-ups. Nothing devastating, but screw-ups none the less that stick with me, haunt me and never let me forget that I am still a human being, as opposed to the invincible tank I like to pretend I am. My mistakes were never handled maliciously, unlike the torrent of hate that has been exemplary of pickup groups. Mistakes are mistakes -- one won't kill you. But you may look like a doofus.
Now, it's your turn. You've made mistakes. We all have. It's confession time. What's the biggest screw-up you've ever been a part of during a group or raid? What was the reaction?

When I first started playing my main charcter, a Mage, waaaay back in...2005, I think...I was running away from a group of Orcs in Redridge Mountains. You know, on the cliffs above Lakeshire? So what did I do? I used Blink. And ran. Off a cliff.
I fell into a group of Murlocs. It wasn't a pretty sight.

I have had several instances like this but the worst were i was MT in Naxx 25 and passed out on patchwerk. Now this wouldnt be a big deal except one of my friends who has been in the same guild with me since realease remined me of the same exact incident that happened to me ON PATCHWERK on 40 man naxx!!!

Once, while tanking Patchwerk, I fell asleep too. My face landed on the 'w' key on my keyboard, and I pulled him all the way to the other side of the room. Apparently, it was quite hilarious.

One of our DK's put Hysteria on Dreamwalker once, her health went down to about 20% and the rest of the raid thought it was a bug, we all had a good laugh once he told us tho, its brought up everytime we start the encounter now xD

Well just yesterday I mistakenly passed on the 264 ele shaman pants thinking they were the same as my 251...
Funny thing was I didn't realize until I thought about it about an hour later "Hey that was 25 man VoA...doh!" Sometimes you can be right in the middle of something, so obvious & you just don't see it.

It goes the other way too.
On some last boss, don't remember which, I tried to roll on some gear on my death knight, but clicked the wrong one....
But it was still better so I ended up wearing spell power healing plate for a while...

Well, right now I recall falling from Kologarn's balcony back in Ulduar while Tanking, I was Main Tanking, and went ahead, pulled him with Avenger`s shield, and tought I could not fall through the breach, but I did. Then everyone in vent went quiet for like 5 secs and then the healers said, WTF? Where is Logan? BREZ! And the druids said "I cant target him" then I said, "Erm guys... I fell". And vent exploded in laughter.
After that first week in Ulduar, before pulling Kologarn we did a little checklist, and it was : Tank ready? healers Rdy? DPS rdy? ok, Logan, remember not to fall...
Raven2212 May 24th 2010 11:17AM
I have one almost the exact same, it was first week or two of ulduar and I was MTing as a druid. As a lazy tank I charged him thinking I would end up right in front of him....I did not.
Also once tanked Curator in Kara (at 70) in cat form. I had been switching from Tank to DPS all raid long and didn't listen to the explanation or who was doing what. I was confused when I ran in and was the first one at him....also confused when no one else cane and someone pulled him as my friend said "ummm you are tanking here". sigh.
Both still get brought up.

Every single one of our paladins has fallen off that cliff at one point or another. Every single one. It's a pretty hilarious running joke now.
Grubba May 24th 2010 5:41PM
Yep, I'm part of that club too. Mid-fight after tanking the rubble, I went to run back to him, and thanks to a stuck key just kept going right over the edge.
Dannyboy May 24th 2010 8:16AM
My main is a mage. My guild did not raid for a week and I leveled my Deathknight tank. I got so used to taking that when I did raid again I ran with my mage right into the begin mobs of Icecrown. Everyone was like WTF!

How about clicking on your land mount instead of your flying mount.....
I jumped right off of Naxxramas, riding my bear.
Aloix May 24th 2010 8:22AM
Using a mount macro will prevent these sorts of things (which you may have already figured out after doing that but in case anyone else needs to know..) ;-)

I thought it was just me. The landing pad at Telaar always got me. And the Aldor lift.
Josin May 24th 2010 8:34AM
$25 for a sparklepony, and this will never happen again.
Jennifer Matt May 24th 2010 8:51AM
yeah, I have a sparkly pony now... I'm not much of a macro person, but yeah, live and learn. I'm sure to all the people at the summoning stone, it was hysterical. I didnt fall to my death, I'm a priest. Levitate ftw.
Moorit May 24th 2010 9:04AM
I did that in Oculus. I always click my mount macro instead of the "summon fancy dragon" button. Jumped immediately after casting, then looked up to see my very upset charger wondering exactly where I thought I was going.
Mr. Tastix May 24th 2010 9:22AM
I do this in Oculus...
Orkchop May 24th 2010 12:03PM
My mount mod, Mountiful, was bugged and would occasionally summon a land mount instead of a flying one. There are quite a few times at the Dalaran landing pad that I ran to the each and almost jumped off.
Natsumi May 24th 2010 1:49PM
I've done this I don't know how many times. WTB Slowfall on Warriors :p That'll teach me to move my flying mount buttons.
